Yeah the roaming charges is what got me thinking about 3. Need to balance out UK coverage vs roaming.
cultsdaveFree MemberThanks for the info, didn’t realise that about wifi calling or sms reply. Had assumed it was the phone not the network.
cultsdaveFree MemberCheers GuitarHero, thats what my quick google seemed to suggest.
cultsdaveFree MemberThanks folks, after a bit of research, it looks like plusnet could be a good option. EE don’t do monthly SIM only deals but plusnet do and they use the EE network so it could be the best of both worlds.
cultsdaveFree MemberThanks, for my locality any network will be fine, I am more interested in general rural locations around Scotland. Always handy to have reception in the hills in case of emergency. EE have been reasonable for general coverage around Scotland.
Tempted by 3 for their deals and lack of roaming charges. Will have a look at Smarty.
cultsdaveFree MemberAnd to some people riding spooky woods at Glentress is the same as doing what G is doing. Charging for medical/rescue is a daft idea as peoples line of what is acceptable is different.
Doing tree surgery or farming is dangerous, should they be forced to pay for medical/rescue?cultsdaveFree MemberSo if you have an accident at work the costs of rescue the medical bills should be chargeable?
cultsdaveFree MemberApologies if Gee planned for any such eventualities and paid for the services himself to be there on stand by in case he stacked it.
This sort of thing is nonsense. Where do you draw this line? Why not draw the line at anything above a red graded trail? Maybe we should start charging a tax for anyone who rides a bike of a marked trail in case they have an accident? Whenever there is an accident in the hills reported the Daily Mail comments are full of ignorant comments about how the hills should be banned in winter etc.
If people didn’t push the boundaries of what was possible where would we be as a species?
cultsdaveFree MemberHe goes on to say,
Mr Burnham, who is MP for Leigh, stood by his comments, today telling Sky News: “I believe we’ve got to have a system that is more linked to people coming to fill a specific job in the labour market rather than speculative free movement, which has actually caused some difficult challenges in parts of Greater Manchester. We’ve seen downward pressure on wages.”
Is that racist or xenophobic?
cultsdaveFree MemberThis is what Burnham said on Asylum seekers, I am not sure it is racist.
Mr Burnham told MPs that places such as Greater Manchester “continue to take in the vast majority of the country’s asylum seekers and refugees and largely they do so without any strife or difficulty. I don’t want to hear anyone claim that people in places like Leigh that voted to leave are in any way xenophobic or racist.
“They are welcoming, generous people but they also want fairness and they don’t think it’s fair that the country’s least well-off communities should experience pressure on wages, on housing, on public services… without any help to manage it.”
cultsdaveFree MemberSmokey whisky in tastes smokey shocker!
Yeah but that is next level smokey I don’t mind the likes of Laphroaig but that Smokehead was just revolting.
cultsdaveFree MemberI had a bottle of this given to me. Tasted like bonfire water it was minging.
cultsdaveFree MemberI just bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B086N3BM25/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Only 30m but its a proper solid bit of kit, much better quality than the hozelock rubbish it replaced.cultsdaveFree MemberThrow it in the bin and use some other dry lube. That smooth stuff turned black and gunky in about 30 seconds, was impossible to clean off, was noisy and generally terrible. I tried using less and less and always left it to dry before use, so it wasn’t user error.
Fenwicks dry is my lube of choice for the road bike anyway. On the MTB I just use wet lube year round.cultsdaveFree MemberLine powered splitters, are they any good or is it worth getting a mains powered one? This will involve getting power connection to the loft.
cultsdaveFree MemberFound the ends! Coiled up in the least accessible point in the loft!
Next question is what aerial do I need? There are 4 TV sockets in the house with 4 coax cables ending in the loft.cultsdaveFree MemberI’d take the face plate off one of the sockets first, just to check if there’s actually any cable installed!
Done that, there definitely is.
cultsdaveFree MemberThis is a new build but not done by a big developer, so is slightly different. I can easily email the developer and see what he says, but he is away just now. I have looked at the plans, unfortunately they just mark the socket points.
CheerscultsdaveFree MemberIt’s a new build house, has never had an aerial fitted.
My guess is that it will be similar to what you describe in that somewhere under all the loft insulation there will be a load of cable. Just finding it is the issue!cultsdaveFree MemberWhat’s the indent got to do with it? All that matter is what the pan is made of – i.e. it just needs to be magnetic.
The base needs to be flat and have contact with the hob. Ours are like a doughnut so the middle doesn’t contact. They are fully stainless and having googled this others have had same issues with similar shaped pots.
cultsdaveFree MemberSRAM have a full service guide on their web page, its step by step and quite easy to do if a bit time consuming. Its usually quite obvious what is causing the issues when you dismantle it, usually a damaged seal. TF tuned sell seal kits.
The only pressure in it is the air chamber, make sure you let the air out first.cultsdaveFree MemberI think uses the same freehub as the pro 4
I don’t think that is correct. Sure the pro 2 and pro 2 40 tooth use the same freehub. The pro 4 is a bigger diameter.
cultsdaveFree MemberI would suggest this loop, we did it in one big day. It was 99.9% ridable on Gravel bikes. I am glad we did it clockwise, coming down Glen Tilt was a breeze felt like we hadn’t put much effort in to gain the height. Assuming you are both relatively fit 2 days should be fine.

Stealth ad, my Aeris 145 with 160 linkage is for sale in the classifieds…….cultsdaveFree MemberThe same BBC which this weekend published a long read piece by its political editor saying Johnson had never lied?
The article did not say Boris never lied. It very much played down and excused his lying and missed out verifiable facts that show he is a liar.
cultsdaveFree Memberchampagne socialist of the 70’s
??
I think you’ve just imagined that.
I really haven’t. This was a quoted directly from Tory voting relatives. They feared Corbyn and would never vote for him.
cultsdaveFree MemberDitto the disastrous brexit policy. Now remind me who thought of that one?
Starmer may have come up with the idea and supported it. But the dithering a blatant lack of support of it from Corbyn made it even more obvious he was keen for Brexit. Had he got behind a 2nd ref right from the start and had a credible Brexit plan instead of red unicorn version people would have held there nose and voted for him. Corbyn should have stood down after 2017. Too many voters associate him with the champagne socialist of the 70’s and would never vote for him.
I keep tabs on blogger Another Angry Voice and if he and his supporters in the comments are taken as a majority voice of the left there is no way we are ever getting away from more Tory majorities. They seam pleased with that too. The attitude seems to be give us all that we want or we shall actively help the polar opposite of happening. The country needs a gradual shift back to the left. The more that people realise that left wing policies help them the better it becomes. As for now, we are stuck with a showers of bellends.
cultsdaveFree MemberCheers folks.
Another highly recommended day out is the Fife coastal path. We got the train from Dundee to Dalmeny then cycled back to Dundee. From Lower Largo to Eilie was on the road but think we could have stuck more closely to the path. From Kingsbarns to St Andrews was on the road as that section of path was unrideable. It really was a great day out and with constantly going through villages you don’t need to bring much food!

https://photos.app.goo.gl/a93KPLfMscn6LSED9I surprised this isn’t a more popular route.
cultsdaveFree Member@eddie123 cheers. It was 100% rideable on the gravel bike. The head of Glen Tilt was tricky but fun and some other bits were a bit rough but not too bad. There wasn’t any boggy bits but its been very dry. Section of Glen Tromie could get boggy but again its only a short bit.
cultsdaveFree MemberHaha, aye its definitely on the cusp of a day. We thought it was just short of turning into type 2 fun!
cultsdaveFree MemberJust did the Tour of the Cairngorms on Friday. A superb and long day out on the Gravel bikes.

Strava here https://www.strava.com/activities/5179613020Would recommend this day out.
cultsdaveFree MemberBecause I have 2 kids and I want them to live in a U.K. which isn’t in such huge debt
Serious question, why do you want us to be in debt? I remember the last time labour were in charge. They left a message saying coffers were empty, good luck! Different flavours of turd
You do realise that government finances are totally different to personal finances? I don’t pretend to understand economics as it is a huge topic that even experts disagree on, but to state in such terms vastly over-simplifies things. It’s what the Tories have done for the past 10 years to great effect. Labour left a note as a joke as is apparently tradition and the Tories weaponised it.
cultsdaveFree MemberSurvey of Labour party members:
"Compared to Jeremy Corbyn, do you think Keir Starmer is doing better, worse, or about the same as leader of the Labour Party?"
Better: 61%
Worse: 29%via @YouGov, 17 – 24 Mar

cultsdaveFree Membernow we’ve stripped the places out we can see just how badly they’ve been built.
Exactly this. How would getting a structural survey done find the issues without stripping things back? This is why I think it will be pointless. Does anyone know what a structural engineer would do to confirm it was built correctly? I do not hence the question. There is no evidence of cracking or leaks anywhere. Building has been up for nearly 2 years.
cultsdaveFree MemberWhen I say it seems pointless on a new build, what i mean is how would they find the issues? There is no evidence on subsidising no cracking to plasterboard etc. My concern is that it would just be a tick box exercise as I do not understand how they would notice potential issues that would be hidden from any sort of view.
It is not that I think new builds are perfectly built i am fully aware of the pitfalls.cultsdaveFree MemberNot that a full SS would pick anything useful out. It’d just say
We recommend getting a damp expert in.
We recommend getting the gas tested.
We recommend getting a ….This is exactly my query, is it worth the paper its written on?
cultsdaveFree MemberIts not been built by a large building company. It was built by an individual developer using reputable companies.
The house feels well built, not like the papermache new builds put up by many others. My faith is mot in the new build my query is in what a structural surveyor can actually achieve by viewing a fully finished home. I was simply asking if a structural survey on a new build is worth the paper its written on or would it just be a tick box exercise.
Like I said above it sounds like the general opinion on this forum is that it is worthwhile.cultsdaveFree MemberFull Member
Firstly, it’s their money – you want it, you do as you’re asked. If it was generally accepted that it was a waste of money I would pass that information on to them and they would appreciate it as they wouldn’t want to waste money. The general opinion so far on here though is that it is worth it. My concern is that would just be a tick box exercise as I don’t understand what surveyor’s can do to a new build. How can they check the foundations or that the walls are constructed properly? The house has stood unsold for 2 years as it was overpriced. There is no evidence of structural movement in that time.
