Well I did 2 weeks in France 1st week mega then 2nd week Morzine. We drove from Aberdeen and I think it cost me less than £750 for everything. Food accommodation beer fuel etc. So that is around the same cost as your flights to Vancover!

CRC as wiggles website is awful,
Much easier to navigate through to what I want using CRC’s page.

I have used various conti tyres both protection and UST their side walls are crap. Holes in them within minutes.
Now running a snakeskin magic mary up front with a High Roller Exo on the rear and no issues. I will not use conti’s again.

Used a 36 tooth one for 2 weeks in the Alps and had no problems. Had a Raceface one before that. No difference noticed.

Sounds like alot of money to me. More than 10% of the value of your items per year. Whats the excess?
Only worth it if it gets stolen and they pay out!

    Why wear clothes, in summer?

Just seems daft. Have clothes ever saved you? Thorns would just go straight through and they seem more faff than what benefit they can give you in warm weather. Why clad yourself/take yourself away from the lovely breeze running past your genitals?

Do not buy a 1.6 diesel ford. Do a google of the amount of engine failures as to why!

I have a 2.0 55 plate focus estate diesel and touch wood it has not missed a beat.

Power wise there is no difference.
XT’s have free stroke adjustment – it seams to do nothing though!
They have a wee knob for adjusting lever reach on the fly slx need an allen key.
Xt’s have ceramic pistons dunno if this makes a difference.

I use michelin pro 4 service course tyres. Never had a problem with them. Usually can be found for around £20 each too.

If you crash onto your face you will wish you were wearing a full face!

I have taken both with me. Used the skid lid for XC days and wore the full face on DH days. Only had a trail bike with me so the DH days weren’t too mental. Going back this year and will be doing the same

    Cheers folks,

Rich, my bike is running the new/better 650b wheels 😉 size so your tyres won’t fit.
    Cheers though

I have one and I love it. Only had it for 3 weeks but it puts a smile on my face everytime!
My old bike was a Cannondale Prophet and I notice no difference between climbing on that and the Rallon (using strava comparisons). I have done a big day out in the hills and it got up the steep landy tracks fine.
I do notice the extra length on the tight techy climbs but you get used to it.
I have it in the higher setting at the moment because I found the low setting too low for the local trails. The front end wandered around too much when climbing in the low setting.
Going to the Alps this summer though and it will get put in the low setting then.

I had a shot of a Demo one for a week before I bought mine. Contact your local dealer and they should be able to sort you out.

I ran one without a Clutch mech and it fell off regularly. I think it would be ok on a Hardtail but on a full sus due to chain growth etc it is more likely to fall off.

My bike arrived on Friday after placing an order for it back in December 🙂
    4 months of waiting!

A friend of mine was quoted £85 for 4 bearings for a pro II at a local bearing shop. He obviously questioned this. The guy then went out the back and on reapearing said, “Managed to get you a bit off. £35 please”
So magically he knocked £50 off! We assumed they are used to folk coming in and buying for business so they just make up a price and hope whoever it is doesn’t question.

Cheers for all the replies folks. I have ended up going for hopes on a set of wtb i25s hopefully they aren’t too heavy. It means I am getting them this week though.

Due to spending lots on a bike I am getting the wheels at a very cheap price. £150 for the pair so I can’t really cancel the order.

    cultsdave

What other ones do you suggest?
Not too worried about the wait as I am getting use of Mavic crossmax enduros until they arrive!

    cultsdave

    Both the same price.
I odered a bike 4 months ago but the wheels that came with it are crap. New bike arrived on Friday. So as part of the deal I got them to order a set of Hopes on Flows and we agreed on a discounted price of £200

Unfortunately the bike shop forgot to order the wheels and now both sets of rims are out of stock. There is an estimated wait time of 2 weeks for the hopes and 4 weeks for the flows. Hence the querie!

If you are fit 70 miles onn a roadie is not too bad. Just make up a 50 or 60 mile loop and give it a try, see how you get on. The most important thing is to eat and drink. Its tricky to get this right. Oce you feel hungry or thirsty its too late!

The Lomond hills are not too far away with some pleasant riding. But as for from Elie I am not sure.

Make sure you do the Elie Chainwalk at high tide!
