    an apprenticeship
    Hahaha……………..you’re funny !

maybe in a few years there will be a few apprenticeships!

No cullen-bay but you did equate usefulness with earning potential. How do you rate a degree with no obvious vocational application? Someone else made reference to “pointless” courses. My point is that high-level study in any field has social utility.

and my point is that they shouldnt be subsidised more than other Uni-goers.

    ernie_lynch – Member
might put a few off some of those pointless courses
And straight on the dole queue with the other one million unemployed 18-24 year olds.

I can think of better ways of scrapping “pointless courses” btw. so they should do a meaningless degree instead? they should cost £10’s of thousands to get a job they could get through an apprenticeship.

    flawed.

i dont think i said useless. I said less useful. I also didnt say that there should be no artists etc, just that they should have to pay for their Uni fees like engineers and £21+ earners will have to.

Well based on you career aspirations – you should pay full whack really shouldn’t you?

Yes, but so should the aspiring history of art students who I might be subsidising when im paying back.

I do agree with hans above, but i have to say, it is not the beauticians who will be paying for their education.

I think it should be. I dont think there should be a raise of the limit on repaying, 15.5k is enough, it encompasses more professions and discourages people from the less productive courses.

Cullen-Bay – this ‘hope’ you have? What’s it founded on?

    working away from britain.

more specifically. 5 years for chem eng, then 2 years law, having 3 languages and working in patents.

As an aside, I’m laughing my arse off at the concept that engineers are better paid than creative types.

    LOL

Unless the average wage leaps up to £50,000 in the near future, we’re pooched.

I hope to earn quite a lot more than that.

Isn’t it more likely to put people off the more useful courses.

Logic: more useful = higher earning and > £21K per year. Less useful = lower earning < £21K. so the people doing arts and design courses which are less useful to society are not put off as it is unlikely they will pay back anything, whereas the people who are would-be engineers might be put off by coming out of Uni and subsidising some of the other students.

I must say im annoyed at this… in a year and a bit im hoping to do chem eng and it seems il walk out of uni with around 30k debt. not that it would put me off as it is going to pay off in the long run.

    OOOOOH! that is nothing.

Where i ride and live there is a guy that hates cyclists. seriously. He has called the police many times and been told to MTFU, but it doesnt stop him. Lately he hasnt done anything, but he used to put rocks/logs across our trails and eventually it came to a head when one of our race team went over the bars when he came across a tripwire across trees.

But to cut a long story short, he has a rubbish life and has been cautioned by the police! 🙂

agree with the OP but would like to add in hayes brakes as a rubbish stopper.

also SRAM X5, X7 and X9 – made of crap.

and lots of endura clothing which falls apart (some has lasted), also dt swiss hubs, i go through them a little too quickly…
