I have raced an anthem X during a 1 hour cross-country race at drumlanrig sxc last year, and found it to be absolutely untouchable by other full sussers ive ridden in the same category. The cube ams hasn’t got as efficient a suspension platform for climbing, in my opinion. I am basing this on having ridden a few different full sussers and found the anthem X noticeably faster at climbing. downhill, i didnt get on with the cube whereas i did with the anthem x.

for me, if it were my money i would buy the anthem. I dont own one, but i did consider buying on for short xc racing this year.

the anthems results speaks volumes about its speed. it came 2nd at the national champs (elite) in 2010… that was the carbon anthem X. and it came 3rd (elite) in the national champs in 2010 (aluminium version, ridden by dave henderson)

I will be going round during a couple of the night laps with a younger member of the squarewheels team, but i do have to get home and sleep with prelim exams of the day after the event. Il look out of the van for sure and try and talk to you at some point.

it broke before the race?! thats fantastic, did it just break when it heard you talking about race?

I myself am not doing it, i will be kicking about though, and will probably do a couple of laps during the event.

should clarify, i go through an xt cassette/chain/rings every 4 months, im still using xtr shifters from last year, and they work fine.

heavy thaw on up here, most of what fell last night is gone now, especially some bits on the puffer that see the sunlight.
disadvantages: makes the firetrack harder to get up if the snow isnt frozen, it was a real mission getting to the top.
still loads of ice about, clear skies tonight means it could get nippy and freeze the melt water.

can’t wait to see people suffering this year rather than doing it myself!

I on the other hand am a smooth ox… and generally very light on this type of kit, as im only a little over 60kg. for me they are very strong rims, and needed truing 2 times last season.

Im 16 and ride for squarewheels, and there is a bunch of us who do.
I dont think about what i eat too much, which is probably having a negative affect on my racing.

I am 6ft 1 or a bit more, and weigh 65 kilos, so im fairly thin, but its all good because thats the shape to be if you want to do XC…

I have never recorded how much time i spend training really, during the summer it is 5/6 nights a week 2 1/2 hours a session sometimes more. during the winter it is 4-5 times a week (3 turbo sessions).

I go through an xt drivetrain every 4 months, but i am very light on my components compared to a couple of the other guys i race with!
