Considering Google is ubiquitous it's amazing how few people know how to use it.

If you want to do anything beyond a simple search use the advance search link that means you can search in a date range or in specific forums as the podge said.

If you want the most recent results then when you get your search results back in Google click the plus to see the 'options' then select 'latest'. Simples! 😉

There is another thread that explains why STW have changed the search I suggest you search for it. 😉

I reckon that from now on any repeated posts/questions should be greeted with UTFS like on the LFGSS board. 😈

@west kipper are you having to prioritise some mail over others as there isn't enough capacity (staff etc) to get it all out the door and delivered?

Just to muddy the waters even further, are these DT Swiss X470 rims with Racing Ralph 2.4's in the photo below?

MY favourite of yesterday…I only take my camera out with me so it's not the best (plus I'm rubbish at photography). 🙂

Can you run a 2.4 Racing Ralph which the OP wants to on a TN719 or EQ27, has anyone?

You see I was thinking only flowers (under duress as it's a hallmark holiday) but then last night she mention she was going to get me something cheap but bike related… 😯

She'll be wanting to go out for a meal next. 😉

I usually aim to be out between 9 and 10. Had a lie in today though and headed off at 10:30. I tend only to ride when my g/f is at work (2 out of 3 weekends) though so in theory I have the whole day to ride.

What's the widest tyre you can fit on a TN719 or an EQ27?

Wouldn't a slick tyre on a hard wet surface give you more grip than a 'knobbly' one?

Print media is under increasing pressure costs/revenue wise and STW has done well to survive by using the web well. I like the magazine purely because I think it strikes the right balance between stuff that is "wow, I wish I could do that" articles and "wow, I could do that if I wanted to" articles (aspirational and inspirational?). I like the opinion pieces because I think they make the magazine feel like it's written by you or I rather than a 'journalist'.

I reckon so. Through a combination of weighing nothing* and what Mister P said.

*and apparently losing weight again which is worrying.

When BT was privatised it was split into chunks (all technically still part of the same group but different companies), the bit that provides the physical infrastructure (a new line in your case) is BT Openreach, who only deal with telecoms companies. These people e.g BT Retail or Talk Talk then pass the cost of connecting that line onto you the consumer.

Some companies will arrange your new line/reconnection and pass on less of the cost as a sweetener for you to sign up with them. Obviously you can only get your line reconnected by your broadband provider if they are also providing your phone service (line rental etc.). If you wanted broadband from a company with no phone capability, then you'd have to get a BT line at £125 and then pay the minimum line rental on it…currently £8-10 a month I think?

Edit* Not sure whether you can get a talk talk phone only deal and then have a different broadband provider.

@molgrips I wasn't saying don't try or don't advance yourself but don't beat yourself up about it if you don't have the time/skill (maybe even willpower/drive).

There are hills I've still failed to cycle up so I'll do what I can to 'train' to ride up those hills but if 'life'/other commitments get in the way I'm not going to get depressed at how rubbish I am at riding up hills.

But then I've never been an ambitious or 'driven' individual.

To a certain extent it depends how you define 'good' and who you compare yourself to.

Am I a good cyclist when compared to Lance Armstrong, Steve Peat, Danny Macaskill, Joe Parkin, most people on here? No not in the slightest…do I enjoy it even though I'm probably last up all the hills and off road have to walk down some of the tougher bits if I don't feel comfortable…yes.

It's always good to learn more and improve at something, but if pushing yourself to do that removes the enjoyment or starts to make you unhappy it's not worth it. As Bob Marley said 'don't worry, be happy*!' 🙂

    *easier said than done sometimes.

I use a timbuk2 messenger bag which would fit your requirements.

    Pro's
    Doesn't shift about.
Zipped front pocket for the battery (although it's under the flap, but you should be able to route the cable fairly easily). 2010 version appears to have a side entry pocket too that might fit the bill.
If you get the strap pad it's very comfortable over your shoulder.
    Waterproof.

    Con's
There is no pad on the back of it so if what you are carrying is particularly bulky/hard/angular you have to be careful packing it so you don't have something digging in your back.

The Ortlieb messenger/rucksack does look pretty good for about the same amount of money. To be honest any good messenger bag with more than just a shoulder strap shouldn't move about when you're cycling.

You're more than welcome to pop round and try it on my 29er though if you want mate…

You get your Tricross sorted incindentally?

I do want to have a spin on your 29er at some point, the question was purely just curiosity.

No to the tricross, going to take it to the shop at some point this week.

People with Alfine set ups where have you place the shifter on the bar, has anyone managed to squeeze it between the brake lever and the grip?

I ask as when I rode a Charge Duster 8 last year I found that I had to move my hand from the most natural position on the grips (i.e. where I could brake) to downshift. This was with the shifter inside of the brake lever.

Isn't this what LBS's are for, take your bike and the current pads…look at the pads on offer, pick ones that look like they'll fit. Try them there and then! 🙂

It may be that what you're offering doesn't meet the expectations of a graduate who is looking for 'IT' work.

Why limit yourself to graduates if it's learn on the job?

Do you have an existing person they are learning off of? A lot of IT admin work isn't really that taxing…could you get an apprentice and some government support?

Are you moving house on your own? If you're moving house with a S/O and you know there are some things* that are 'precious' or likely to be required at short notice…make sure you know where they are. 😉

*The difficult bit is working out what those things are.

There are two options for the actual move.
    a) everything in one day. a tiring long day but it's all out of the way quickly and then you can relax/unpack.

    b) Spread the move over more than one day (only possible if rents overlap?) and do little chunks. Less tiring and you can do some unpacking as you go along. However if you take too long feels like you've been moving for ever!

Oh and work out how many boxes you think you need to pack everything in and then add 5!

Is there something you can get that you can put in the back of any van without actually fixing to the floor (i.e. it's removable to swap between vans) to stop bikes moving around/falling over when upright?
