Thanks for the helpful reply guys, i've actually browsed alot of articles on CS ping already but many of them actually focus on how to get perfect 99FPS and not get ping down to a playable level.

I'm playing mostly on european servers that were running fine at my previous home even at 2mb. My ping ranges between 100-200 before i get kicked.

I've tried plugging a LAN cable instead of wireless but its still the same story. Some friends at work have said that my router/modem (a basic netgear so it won't have a firewall) isn't 'powerful enough' and that even if i plug in a cable it'd still be the same. Is there a way to get pass this without spending too much money on an expensive N-speed router? How awill ibe able to 'open' TCP ports up?

Another thing i noticed is that when i tried to play the game on my own offline, i found movement and response quite laggy to what it used to be. Could it actually be that my graphics card on my laptop (128mb) can't cope therefore its causing such low ping?

Will try the traceroute and commands tonight when i'm back home.

P.S COD4 would destroy my laptops graphics card!

I would be strongly against PC World, having built up a bit of computer experience over the years they are generally more expensive and less well specced that many other internet brands. Personally, i'd buy an Apple, much more simple and fast once you get to grips with the basics, if not http://www.meshcomputers.com are always a reliable choice.

I agree that thetford is the best the local area has to offer, but that doesn't mean its any good.

Guys that have ridden the brandon side, are they Mtb designated tracks? I would like to try them but afraid i will get momentously lost, is there a map of the tracks?

Ski – I'm in the cambs areas, because its new to me its probably best to see it done first. I'm actually stripping alot of the parts including the chris king headset from my 575 onto this build so i'd need a removal tool as well.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've actually done quite alot of work on my 575 based on the park tools website, but i've just never come across a step by step guide which i thought would have been a good read.

On another note, I've never fiddled with the headset before and from what i've read i need qutie alot of specialized tools (and skill) Would it be wise then to take it to my LBS?
