Fwiw, I loved it and was in the top 10 in my cat.
There was a lot of pushing up, but if you want steep downs, you gotta deal with steep ups.
The ebikes were especially struggling on the hike a bike sections – ebike specific transitions but be a suggestion for future events.

looks like it has crystallised as 8-10th of may I’ll be there.

Techy descents in Hebden sounds like just the ticket…
is there a guide book, a local or a GPX that can help me?

do you need boost or non-boost? I was about to pop a pair of non-boost 240s (with 27.5 EX471 rims) on eBay.

The numbers NZ Air give for max size of bike bag is marginally larger than an evoc.
i wondered if they are enforcing the size limit.

Anyone used a evoc bike bag for travel to NZ recently?

I wouldn’t touch a neck brace with a 50ft pole – I’ve yet to see any independent medical evidence they provide positive benefits.

    Hi mike,
Mine was C5, smashed to bits & my buddy broke C6. between us we’ve seen a fair bit of the inside of hospitals.
If you want to talk – my email is in my profile, but I’m not dropping my experiences all over a public site. HTH

BBC said the frames were individually designed, hand laid Carbon & cost £20k a pop. They wen’t on to say the parts were not just laying around in warehouses…

To make people who already own a bike sell it and buy a new one with “more modern geometry”?

Aren’t all the trails “racers only” on private land. I think he can only legally get on the tarmac and bridleway sections.

some of transitions hangers do not brake away very easily. they are pretty heavy duty – i.e. not sacrificial. The covert and transAm also have super strong hangers. On my covert I broke a mech and the hanger never even bent

Hmmm, odd that the lift guy would warn us off it asa wasted trip… but then gave us a heads up on a different loop. Oh well, I guess the OP can report back on his return.

It was warm and sunny till today. but we left yesterday morning and then it was forecast to rain till friday. But tbh, it’s the mountains & last week the forecast was never accurate until the morning of the day in question.

if there is a storm, the lifts close – don’t get caught in the wrong valley.

it is warm – you don’t need many layers, but it can get cool on the tops in the rain.

I rode all week on a Mary/rock roller combo. It was super fun – even when it was a swamp (last Thursday & saturday). :D

Are you riding bike park or natural trails.
Is it going to be pissing with rain for a week before you arrive.
Are you racing or having fun. (if you are racing & you don’t know what tyres – you are gonna lose)
    100% chairlift or pedal up.
    road or MTB?

I like the idea GritCX. It isn’t for me, but its nice that the failed MTB & road riders have somewhere to hang out.

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away… I sheared a bolt because I didn’t know how the torque wrench worked – A Very expensive error.

And I put a tyre on back to front.

And I used the wrong compound tyre at a trail centre – it was a disaster. Hundreds died.

Unfortunately the hilo is what I already have. It is an inch too short in 100mm travel, 27.2 short (I believe this is 380mm total length).

    So a Thompson or a lev…. Kerching :/
