    Looks interesting.
I was intending on buying a Wattbike later this year to use during the winter months but it looks like the Zwift thing could be just as good but £1k cheaper!

Realistically, how much difference does Flight Attendant make?

I know nothing about DH racing but I can’t imagine that it makes a race-winning difference in XC.

I could understand people complaining if they had electronically adjustable suspension like Moto GP tried a few years back where the suspension was adjusted via GPS depending on where the bike was on the course but I thought the likes of Flight Attendant were just a fancy lockout system?

Our Tory candidate was out and about again in the town today as it’s market day.

She’s been there the past couple of weeks campaigning but from what I’ve seen is either chatting with the odd pensioner or standing looking out as everyone’s ignoring her. The previous MP who’s standing down was like the invisible man by comparison.

The good news is the the Electoral Calculus site suggests that what was previously a Tory stronghold, having previously been Johnson’s constituency for years, is looking like a Lib Dem win. Happy days!

Blips aren’t compatible with the Reverb.

The Reverb requires a continuous signal to activate and the blips don’t offer that functionality.

    @thered

I’ve just had a try with a spare AXS remote and the Reveb only pairs with one controller at a time. Bit of a pain but not totally unexpected.

The Fenix 7 is fantastic but if you can find one of the discounted models then I’d go for an Epix Gen 2, the screen looks to be streets ahead of the one on the Fenix.

If they’re being a pain in the arse, which let’s face it, they have form for, I’ be going to your credit card company if you paid that way and getting them to take it up for you.

I tried to find this out a while ago but never got an answer.

If no one else can give you an answer then I can have a try tomorrow some time and let you know.

Just to revive this thread, we’re off to Anglesey in a couple of weeks and I was planing on taking the bike with me.

Is there much riding on Anglesey, be it forest or coastal path stuff? We’re staying near Llanedwen but thought I might get out for a couple of local rides if possible.

Last year Skoda got rid of their 5 year/70,000 mile cambelt interval recommendation.

They now say it’s good for 180,000 or the life of the car.

I’d double check that if I were you.

From what I’d read I thought it was only for the petrol engines and the diesels were still 5 year or whatever the mileage was. I may be wrong though.

I wonder if the 10% off is stackable with the £40 off for first order?

It says the 10% isn’t valid with any other codes.

Extra 10% off the reduced prices on Hunt Wheels at the moment.

I quite fancy a set of the Proven Carbon XC wheels for my Epic…

I’m basically after something that’s more gravel bike than MTB which’ll be used for the odd bit of road riding as well as off-road stuff.

I plan on using two wheelsets with it, both 650b and 700c. Probably won’t be using guards at all.

Flat bar, no chance of tow overlap… you want a Cascade like Brant

I really don’t want a Cascade. I had one and didn’t think much of with flat bars. Quite an expensive mistake!

Bit of a tangent here but does anyone find they have toe overlap issues on the Escapade?

I’m looking at a few frames to build a flat bar bike and the Escapade might fit the bill but I’ve tried a few gravel and CX bikes with noticeable overlap which can be a pain on the slower, more technical climbs.

I’d go with a bog scooter for that.

After years of commuting on bikes, everything from an R1 to an Africa Twin, the scooter is easily the most practical. I do 32 miles each way on a Yamaha X-Max 300, it happily keeps up with traffic on the motorway and is a doddle to ride in traffic. Loads of space under the seat to store work stuff and will easily fit a couple of carrier bags of stuff if you use it for a shopping run! Running costs are low with it averaging just over 90mpg.

I had the same thing with a set of SID Ultimate forks.

I took them to a local shop and the guys there returned them to SRAM who replaced the lowers.

This is just going to be a mean thread.

It’s just gonna be a thread of bands people don’t like. Kind of pointless really.

Just don’t try and claim, and certainly don’t take up thier lies dodgy excess insurance scheme.

That’s the opposite of my experience with Pedalcover. I claimed for bike and kit under the accidental damage cover after an off. It was handled well and I got a decent payout from them. The excess cover bit was a little slow but they paid out in full as well.

I bought a couple form the guy in Worksop as well, one for the bike and a spare.

Defintely recommend him if anyone’s looking for the skirt/fender thing for their Epic!

Great last lap there in the men’s race.
Shame we missed loads with the terrible camera work at the end though!

If I hadn’t bought my Epic last year in the sale I’d be all over this…

Having had an S-Works Epic World Cup a few years back, I’d have absolutely no issues using the new Epic for XC racing. It feels faster than the old model I had.

    Rapha 😂

Does anyone still buy this stuff?

I am sure it’s very good but it’s at least 5 times the price compared to quality clothing so it needs to be very special indeed.

    We do in our house.
I’ve got a fair bit of their kit and after a few years it’s still like new, far better quality than most cycling kit I’ve bought over the years.

As for women’s kit, my wife is a fan of the Rapha trail kit as well, she says it’s comfortable and fits well.

    I’ve got a set on a 140mm travel hardtail and a 120mm full sus.

On set is at least four years old and still on original bearings and not broken any spokes yet. I’m not exactly giving them the hardest use but they’ve more than coped with my shit riding.

I believe the T-Type chainrings are backwards compatible with normal Eagle stuff. The compatibility chart from SRAM seems to confirm it.

    Yes.
Had them and loved them. I’d have put some on the Epic but I couldn’t find stock anywhere.

Just checked, I had a Race on the front and Speed on the rear.

Can’t be geared, single speed or alphine

So what can it be then?

I’ve been looking around this past week to get any more ideas for a frame and not got much further forward than the Sonder Camino.

Another option rather than a gravel frame could be an MTB frame.
So are there any nice, light HT frames that I can build up with rigid fork which will also take a decent size chainring, preferably 38t or 40t?
UDH hanger would be a bonus…

You’re correct, he probably won’t be one of the ones in the peloton trying to get through. He will, however, most likely be near the sharp end with several other riders who’ll all still be gunning it to get in to Arenburg first to avoid being stuck behind a faller.
As such, him and whoever else is with him will now be sprinting up to a ridiculously slow chicane instead, which also has potential to wreck the race if they crash.

    That’s just ridiculous.
Arenberg will be awful, I’d imagine, if you’re hitting it at slower speeds and trying to get up speed on the cobbles. Especially so this year as it looks like it might be damp.

Maybe they should just have it like the sportive? When you get to the start of the sector you just have to slalom between the halfwits who think it’s a great idea to block the road to take photos.

Posted 3rd April, surely they’re a couple of days late with it?

Could you imagine the carnage of a group hitting a chicane like that, still desperate to be the first into Arenberg?

It would be a shame if they were to try and mess with the run in to Arenberg, the crazy sprint for position is one of the highlights of the race!

I’m actually quite glad to see the back of the whole Paris-Roubiax mystique and special modifications stuff that got endlessly promoted – most riders now are just using normal race bikes, maybe with wider tyres. Gearing has got higher anyway as average speeds have increased, aero bikes are perfectly capable on cobbles so no need for the special edition cobble-specific machines. Just get on and ride it!

I’d have to disagree with that. For me the weird and wonderful modified bikes were part of the joy of Paris-Roubaix.

Not having them takes something away from it in my mind.
