    I’m in for tonight…

Utter bollocks. That is about as benign an ‘insult’ as you could possibly get.

I totally agree with this, however if that’s the way the mod’s are going to be with everyone from now on then that’s up to them. It just needs to be the same across the board.

My surprise with this is that someone can get banned from the forum for saying why they were banned from the forum!

FYI – I think weeksy is banned again for the mention above of why he was banned so he might not re-comment for a week now! 🤷‍♂️

    Unbelievable!!

@kentishman I believe that you can pick and choose workouts from plans with the latest Zwift update.

Couldn’t reply yesterday as I was banned for calling blokey a Muppet.

Blimey. With some of the tripe posted on here I’m amazed that you can get banned for calling a muppet a muppet 😂

Meanwhile, fair play for getting out on the bike, it’s more than many here seem to do. Odd really considering that it’s a mountain bike forum!

What’s 417 like? I’ve never really heard much about it before, turns out it’s just over an hour from here so might be worth a look. Are any of the trails XC rider friendly or is it an uplift only type of place?

Back to it now we’ve finally got electrickery again here.

Completed Novena this morning. Not too bad, a little dull but managed to keep my interest for an hour. I’ve only managed two of last weeks four workouts then this is my first for this week. Gouging to have to do one a day until Friday then attempt one around work on Sunday to complete this weeks sessions.

I’ve signed up for tomorrow’s group ride and hopefully I’ll finally make it to one!

    @DrP
I’d be keen to do a Thursday daytime ride but it depends on shifts. Evening rides can be a struggle to fit in around either late shifts or early starts.

Can’t these threads just be put in a sub forum on their own rather than polluting the main forum?

Bloke rides bikes and tinkers with them lots.

Bloke posts about it on a forum for people who like to ride bikes and tinker with them.

Only on STW could that possibly be a problem.

I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make it for the group ride tomorrow.
We’ve not had any power or phone signal at home since yesterday lunchtime, the only reason I can use STW is that I’m sat waiting for a takeaway in a village nearby and they’ve got mobile signal 😂

If it’s fixed through the night tonight then I’ll be there. If not I’ll try and make the next one!

I find the worst thing on anything over an hour is the boredom!
For me a decent podcast takes my mind off it for about an hour or so then after that it’s just a case of grin and bear it.

Just finished What Goes up Must Come Down. I was expecting it to be much worse than it was, it wasn’t overly taxing on the legs.
I definitely think I need to do another ramp test to update my FTP for the rest of the plan.
I’ll probably swap one of next weeks workouts for the Ramp Test and see how I go from there.

That’s if I’m actually looking in the right place 😂

Where about do we find the invite for Sunday?

Each terminal at Heathrow has at least one test centre ran by ExpressTest. You need to book your time slot with them.
Make sure you’re not late for your slot as they can be very fussy about it if you’re late, often refusing people tests and throwing travel plans in to chaos!

Halvfems done this morning. Not too taxing but I was starting to feel it by the last couple of intervals.
I originally planned to do What Goes Up today but I’ve got a 12h shift later today and don’t fancy doing it with wrecked legs! I’ll save it until my day off on Friday.

    @DrP
Can you ping me an invite for Sunday’s group ride please? I’m off work so should be able to make it.

Are they just the standard Rock Shox crush washers or do they use something different?

I’l probably try to jump on the group ride next Sunday, my shifts for this week mean I’m just going to have to squeeze in rides whenever I can.

I completed Red Unicorn this morning but I think I may have my FTP set a bit low, my average HR was only 131bpm which seemed a bit low for the session.
I might wait another week or two then do another ramp test to see where it puts me. No point in doing the plan if my FTP’s set too low.

What happened in London last night is presumed to be the work of crisis actors and nothing to do with the Freedom Convoy.

    Have a word with yourself!

Spouting conspiracy theory bullshit like this makes you just as bad as them.
The mods on here should be getting the ban hammer out to stop the spread of this kind of nonsense.

A bit late to the party here but I’m up for giving this a go. I was planning on doing the STW Tuesday night races but not had much luck with getting time around work etc. Hopefully the training plan being a bit more flexible will make it a bit easier!

Whichever colour you go for it’s worth getting an invisiframe kit for it.

Unless Cotic have drastically improved the quality of the finish then the paint will scratch and scuff at the slightest touch. I may just have been unlucky but I’ve heard similar comments from other Cotic riders too.

Aero i can kinda manage throwing my hands into the stem, it’s not all all-day body position, but can certainly do it enough to get by.

You need a set of these bars…

    Farr CARBON ENDURANCE Bar

I used a set on my hybrid that I commuted on. They were fantastic in a headwind.

If so, try getting in touch with BA Hols and getting them to work their magic.

    Good luck with that.
BA holidays are as good as 8mpossinle to get in touch with by either phone, email, social media or any other form of communication you can think of.
A work colleague was just saying about this earlier today, when someone finally answered his call they informed him they’d only put him through to a customer service assistant if holiday started in the next 24h!

Thanks for that @kentishman I’ll give that a try later.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to take individual workouts from the Zwift training plans and complete them?
I was looking to follow the Build Me Up plan very loosely but it appears that the only way you can do the specified workouts is to follow the full 12 week plan.

    Am I missing something?

Any suggestions for a table for a laptop when using Zwift? Preferably something reasonably cheap!

Is anyone using an Apple TV with Zwift?
    Is it my good?
I’m thinking about getting one for the TV in the garage rather than taking my laptop back next forth. Means I can also leave it at work rather than dragging it home if I’m planning on going on the turbo.

I’m up for this, should be able to make all of them apart from one.
I’ll try and get an FTP test done this week and PM you the numbers.

That’s shit news and a horrible situation to be in.

We’ve just gone through something similar with my other half’s father, luckily they seem to have caught his in time.
When she was struggling with things she was advised to speak to MacMillan, they offer great support for families as well as patients. She found it incredibly helpful.
Might be worth a try for advice etc.

I’m glad you asked this question lucien. I’ve got the Syncros Hixon on my bike and was just trying to figure out how to mount a light.
I’m tempted to just try my Diablo on my helmet and see if it gives off enough light on the trails.

    Are your shoes too tight?
If they’re tight with thick socks then it’ll cut off circulation and give you cold feet.

I’ve got a quick Zwift question for those of you in the know.
I’ve got a Kickr Core and a set of the new Garmin power pedals on the other bike. Should I stick the Garmin pedals on the turbo bike to control the turbo rather than having the Kickr control itself?

    It’ll be grand.

    Nice one, thanks.

Just a quick fixed gear wheel question…

If I’ve got a double fixed rear hub, is it possible to run a freewheel on one side or will there not be enough thread for it to work?
I need some wheels and keep seeing fixed or double fixed hubbed wheels for sale rather than flip flop hubbed ones.

I had this with my Ultegra caliper.
You could try cutting the pin in the centre, removing the pads then try to unscrew the remaining seized bit of the pin with some vice grips. I tried that but the remaining part of the pin just broke off.

To drill the pin out I knocked of the remaining part of the screw head so it was relatively flush with the caliper.
Mark the centre of the remaining piece of the pin with a centre punch so the drill bit doesn’t slip then use some decent quality sharp drill bits (I used these https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-straight-shank-hss-drill-bits-25-piece-set/2726v)

Start small, I think I started with something like a 2mm bit. once that’s through then go up a size. I think I went up as far as 3mm or 3.5mm The other side of the caliper will also need the hole enlarged as it won’t take a decent size split pin otherwise.

    Possibly.

But which state would own it?

Front mtb wheel with a sprocket instead of a disc?

Just picked up a Specialized Singlecross for winter duties, the plan is to use it Singlespeed but it’s got a fixed/freewheel rear hub so it’ll be getting used fixed as well.

Currently looking for some wheels for it which have 120mm track hub at the back and tubeless rims which will withstand a bit of off-road stuff, mainly bridleways.
Looks like I may have to try and build my own…

Thanks for the tips @lunge and @surfer

During the race, particularly a 10k, I generally go off to hard, try desperately to hold the pace and have a horrific last 2km. On different occasions this has resulted in both a huge PB and also my practically walking across the finish line.

This has pretty much always been my tactic in MTB and CX races, sadly I was never really fit/fast enough that my body could do what my mind thought it could, usually resulting in me limping across the line utterly wrecked 😂
No doubt this Sunday will be the same.
