Out the park looks good, thanks for the suggestion.

Did you work out an answer to this? I’m contemplating the same thing question.

As I remember it (fair few years since I’ve ridden the area), the crossing of Long Mire Beck at Stephensons Ground  was a bog in the summer so will be a nightmare at the moment so was looking for other options to get back around to Seathwaite. Is going straight up Long Mire an option or will that also be a bog?

Just to close this one off, we decided to go for it anyway, doing a ride starting in nr Satterthwaite and was pleasantly surprised to find the top section of Parkamoor, while not back to it’s prime, still a fun blast. We took the option below, and it was a great suggestion, adding a bit more fun just at the point the descent levels out and gets a bit boring.

Coming down? Consider turning off here:

Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.

Cheers all, confirmed my thoughts tbh, if something smells fishy, walk away.

Forgot to add the detail that’s throwing me a bit, he said he’s fine to pay by PP or bank transfer, but would prefer a bank transfer.

Ignore the naysayers, nothing ever happens if you don’t give it a go. The accessibility on bike via the lines is a good point.

SWB Kombi is fine for 2 x bikes diagonally across bungied to the headrest, even with super long XL enduro bikes. You can also fit 5 bikes (and associated kit) with front wheel off, top & tailing them across the van for days when you need to fit a few friends in.

Don’t think I’d go LWB unless I was planning to convert it.

Search for @DaddyPopMusic on facebook & send him a message – it’s a guy who’s built a business buying & selling large collections of vinyl & CD’s from his Garage.

Great, I think I’ll just fit it then. Thanks all.

Probably not ..but just had a great day riding out of Westgate today …it’s bloody steep whichever way you leave the valley floor ..but there are some cracking descents to make up for it ..nice pot of tea in Chatterbox cafe in St John’s Chapel ..and a pint of Weardale Gold in the Hare & Hounds in Westgate at the end ..completed a great day out .

Was that a road ride or MTB Hodgynd?  Always wondered if there were any decent MTB trails out that way.

Thanks all, we’ve decided to give it a whirl, worst case we can retire to the pub.

If regular taxi companies could get their act together and create a decent app, we could bin uber altogether

This x100. I don’t use Uber because of the price, I use it because of how easy and slick the experience is. Easy to order, easy to track, just get out on arrival and all receipts are in one place when I come to claim expenses.

Compare that with a taxi, I need to look up a local company number to book, have no idea if it is on time to pick up, have to faff with paying when I arrive and get a paper receipt. My last taxi journey resulted in nearly missing a train as the drivers card machine wasn’t working so he drove around trying to get signal and refused to let me out. Great service.

My experience of Saracen warranty is excellent. Had a Myst DH bike which had a crack on a weld, took it into my LBS and had a replacement next day. Rode it for 3 plus years, giving it lots of abuse in the meanwhile, then spotted a hairline crack around the BB. Back to the LBS and got a shiny new frame with carbon rear triangle as they didn’t make the aluminium version anymore. Can’t fault them.

Main carpark stays open and theres normally quite a few groups heading out around 6 – 6.30ish. It’s just a normal ride, only a bit colder & darker.

Take the first few runs steady though as I find it usually takes a while to get your eye-in and get used to riding with lights. The first few night rides of the year are usually quite tentative affairs.

I asked for an order to be upgraded to next day deliver today (as it’s still not despatched after a week) and was told they don’t offer that service anymore. Checked the site & sure enough the best they offer now is Priority Tracked: “2-3 working days if you place your order before 1pm. The same service as Standard Tracked but fast forwarded through our warehouse.”

Ordered forks, reverb and a few bits & bobs a week ago. Forks received from Wiggle on Tuesday, reverb & bits still sat awaiting despatch. Spoke to them via live chat and haven’t really made much progress, just “we’ll look into it, and you’ll receive a despatch notification when they leave us”. Scuppered my plans for a bike build on Friday 🙁

Waiting on some kit for a bike build I have planned on Friday, forks have arrived from Wiggle stock, CRC bits are still pending despatch so I think a call is in order to chase tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Interesting new direction for a company offering Ski & Snowboard packages to Canada. I’ll reserve judgement but just hoping this is a positive step and that the uplift at Inners is back up and running soon.

I’ve spoken to Transition and they are offering reduced offset Fox 34 Performance Elite and Rockshox Pike RCT3’s for sale with the Frames BUT they have no control on what the local distributor decides to stock / offer and according to Windwave they will only be offering the Fox 34, which is a bit annoying.

I’ll have to speak to my local Transition dealer to see if they can source a Pike to go with the frame.

Sky, broadband / tv, Fox films,FX, News corp, live sports events sponsored by him?

Genuine question – why boycott live sports events sponsored by him? The rest I can understand as it avoids lining his pockets, but consuming an event he has paid to advertise at without giving any revenue back is a win surely (albeit a tiny inconsequential one)?

It’s been down for me for an hour, tried logging in for a ride, sat spinning watching the twitter feed to see if it would get sorted then gave up and used the Tacx app for a fairly boring 40 mins at 70% FTP.

According to the twitter feed anyone entered in the ride to win a Drivo will still be entered in the draw (I wasn’t even aware the competition was running!).

Valleyboy, try unpairing everything that is in blue on this screen:

Then click search under “Controllable trainer” and hopefully the Tacx will show up, you can then search for the Garmin in the relevant section to add this as well (this is what worked for me).

I’ve got the Tacx Flow set up via Bluetooth only on a Macbook Air / Iphone with the Zwift App, I’d imaging the Vortex will work via Bluetooth also – I think the firmware update added Bluetooth compatability.

Did you have a “dumb” trainer connected via a speed & cadence sensor before? If so, try unpairing everything & searching for the Tacx under “controllable trainer” first. This worked for me.

Had another crack this morning and all working fine now – I had to unpair my Panobike Speed & Cadence sensor (which was showing as a classic trainer + speed sensor) first, then when I searched for a controllable trainer the Tacx showed up, then repaired my Panobike as just a cadence sensor.

pahoehoe, I’ve just bought the Tacx 2240 and have a similar setup (6 month old Macbook Air and Zwift App on iPhone) and it’s not picking up as a controllable trainer. It does pickup the trainer as a “Speed Sensor & Classic Trainer” and “Cadence sensor”. I was assuming I would need to get an ANT+ Dongle to control the Tacx but it sounds like that’s not the case going by your set up.

Were you using Zwift previously with a “dumb” trainer and 3rd party sensors? I’m wondering if it’s due to it still picking up my Speed & Cadence sensor.

6ft 3″ and on a 21″ frame with big bars and it feels great. The bars made a huge difference to the feel for me.

It’s also for sale in the classifieds 😉
