I used to attach the battery pack to the back of my helmet, then I put it in my camelback, finally I now put it in my zipped pocket of my jacket as the cable is long enough.

Lol – don’t get in a ‘pickle’ mate that is truely god-awful.

You’d have been banned from our Dartmoor rides if you were gonna wear that monstrosity 😉

the one time I got bitten by a dog it was a collie 👿

Little fecker nipped the back of my shoe as I rode past it’s owner, I though it was just my shoe but about 2 miles later I stopped & found he’d cut my ankle. Went to A&E to make sure there were no teeth left in the cut 😉 & to have a tetanus. Always wary now when I get near collies 😕

Thanks Burchy1, did the cafe shut, or did someone take it on – my missus loved their cake…

Was up there a few weeks back & the cafe was closed.
There was a burger van there doing hot food & drinks tho 🙂

Not so much a demo day but I know that Certini [/url] in Saltash near Plymouth have a big demo fleet of bikes including 29ers.

Have you thought about maybe giving them a ring to see if you can have a demo 29er for the day & get out on Dartmoor on it?

How much clearer can ‘Costs for CIS purposes are £….’ be?

Lol – maybe you need an extra line on your invoice along the lines of:

Net amount (after deducting material costs) liable to CIS deductions £….

If you are doing work for them this tax year then they could adjust their next payment to you if they are sure the materials costs are correct. Failing that you’ll have to suck it up, put your 2012 return in early & make sure you clearly show materials costs on future invoices to avoid a repeat.

Grand Vet here 50yo & I have no need for supplements, don’t suffer from any aches & pains other than the ones I get when I fall off 😕

I ride a fair amount mainly at the weekends during Winter plus the odd midweek night ride, I commute in the Summer plus lots of midweek night rides. Still play 5-a-side for an hour each week & I’m still running at the end of the hour much to the surprise of my younger mates.

I eat well, sleep well & try to reduce the amount of stress at work. I think my good health is due to a positive outlook on life & my desire to be as fit as I can.

If you have joint pain is your bike set up right? do you need to adjust your saddle or change the stem length?

My last ride of 2011 was with a mate on Bodmin Moor. The conditions were less than ideal with lots of standing water, mud that you could lose a tank in & very strong wind to the extent that we had to pedal on the downhills.

That being said it was my mates first ride up there & we had great fun. Roll on 2012 & even more riding 🙂

waves back @ Joe – you didn’t blank me mate cos we didn’t see another MTBer on our route.

Had to laugh at the walker who was wearing his Xmas trainers, he got onto the trail towards South Hessary Tor saw the puddle/mud on the trail & turned back cos he didn’t want to get his trainers dirty 😕

Eviljoe – I was up Burrator way yesterday & stayed off the open ‘moor’ side to avoid the worst of it. We had a fun descent off the TV mast down to Princetown once it stopped being flat/boggy/peaty/muddy 😕

My first mlc was the sudden realisation @ age 39 that i was chronically unfit & that i had to so something about it as 40 was just round the corner. Bought a BSO from Halfrauds & got my fitness back. Eventually bought a real mtb & started riding off road, i now ride as much as i can & i’m fitter now than i’ve ever been.

My second mlc was at 48 i was diagnosed with skin cancer which was a big shock & it made me realise how short our life on this planet is. I had two operations & now 2 years on my remission continues. I cherrish everyday now & try to cram in as much as possible. I’m far more relaxed about work & life in general, i’m more mellow & don’t let things stress me out. No tats or motorbike yet i’ll see what santa brings me this year.

For me the key to my mlc is being happy, relaxed & content with life.

Taking part in MM & Bonti 24/12 as part of Team Bullheart
    The Big Bike Bash
Night riding for the first time
Plus riding with friends old & new.

It’s been a good year for me with no major injuries & my remission continues

    MF – from eBay site

    Sale of Goods Legislation

The most important piece of legislation relating to the sale of goods through eBay.co.uk is the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended).
The Act provides that wherever goods are bought they must “conform to contract”. This means that items sold through eBay by business sellers must be:
    • of “satisfactory quality”;
    • “as described”; and
    • “fit for purpose”.

Therefore goods sold by business sellers must not be inherently faulty at the time of sale, must match any description given to them and, allowing for factors like price, they must be fit for their purpose, defect free, safe and durable.

Where the seller is a private individual, the goods must be “as described”. The goods are not legally required to be of “satisfactory quality” or “fit for purpose”.

Elfin – I’ve bought a few pairs off the net with no problems at all except for this one – Grrr.

Cheers guys – I’ll bat off my polite email explaining the goods are not as described & that I want a full refund.

I’ll let you know how I get on.

No it was not a BIN a straight auction.

Looking at the shoes can anyone confirm whether womens Spesh shoes have a blue spesh ‘S’ ? I have 2 other pairs of mens tahoe shoes with the red spesh ‘S’.

I have been using Tahoe’s for the last 5 years I’ve always bought an 8 & they always fit perfectly, these I couldn’t even get on as they are a lot smaller.

    Elfin – I may have a pair size 7 or 7.5 going cheap 😉

Druid – they were listed as UK men’s size 8.

Assuming that the seller wasn’t aware that they were not a size 8 surely now that I have demonstrated to him/her that there are not a UK size 8 as per his/her listing then he/she should have them back & give me a refund?

    crispybacon
    Free Member

CharlieM – they are not a size 8 mate believe me. The EU size is correct the UK size is wrong.

If you look @ the code at the top of the label my correct size 8 shoes are 6116 – 6342 the eBay shoes are 6115 – 6240. The last two figures are the EU sizing.

Buzz – on Google maps the car park is just past the Mountain Air Inn which I believe is/was closed. You can see the trail going off at 7 o’clock the white track up the hill – superb descent on the way back down.

To be honest it was our first time doing it this way & it was great fun apart from riding up the road rather than the Twrch trail to get back to the top. Enjoy Cwm Carn whatever you do.

Me & a mate started at Cwmbran we parked in a small car park by a clay pidgeon shooting place on Mountain Road. We rode up the hill to the top & then headed over the ridge to the top of the Twrch trail. The route is quite wide with 4 x 4 tracks so easy to follow. Put bikes over fence at the style by the play area that used to have the ladder drops & then rode the Twrch trail to the bottom (the best bit IMHO).

Had lunch at the cafe & then rode back up the road most of the way to the top of the Twrch, back over the fence & along the ridge. The descent back down to the car park was superb 🙂

I would suggest you have an OS map of the area so you can see where to park & where to go when you get to the top.

You will need to check the letters to see if the refund for 05/06 has been carried forward each year. I would suspect that it hasn’t but you’ll need to check.

Assuming that it hasn’t then you should get the amounts overpaid for each year plus a small amount of interest (supplement) for refunding the amount to you late.

Maybe enough for some new shiny bike parts?
