Clarey. On the warranty front & replacing the hoses etc you would need to speak to Propel, their tel No. is 01726 825038. As it’s a known problem with the seals on Formula Oro brakes then I would have thought that replacing them FOC would be good PR & Karma. Hope you get this sorted soon.

If you are still stuck then you need to host your pictures on the web i.e. flickr, Photobucket, etc. Once that is done you need to right click on the pic you want on STW & copy the URL. On your STW Reply click on "IMG" then paste the URL in the box this will put the URL inside the correct tags.

Clarey I have some K24’s which played up after only 4 months & the problem was with a seal in the reservoir/lever area reacting to the brake fluid. I’m led to believe that Propel are aware of this problem & mine was sorted under warranty with the fitting of another seal by Propel. I must say that they are now excellent brakes once again :o)

Tyre valve/logos & your fence needs painting :o)

Looks like you should be able to get a months worth of ‘smart price’ ASDA gear in them there panniers, I just hope it’s all downhill from your local ASDA with that mahoosive front chainring.

Used to ride a road bike as a youngster but gave up at age 16 when I got me first moped & then moved on to cars etc. Fast forward to age 39 & bought my first MTB as a way to get fit again with the big four Oh just round the corner. I got a Raleigh Max full susser & rode about 4,000 miles on it in 4 years mostly on tarmac with the odd foray down cycle trails i.e. Camel Trail & Granite Way. My LBS used to try to convince me to buy a real lightweight MTB & in the end I bought a Spesh HT. As I now had a real MTB I decided to try riding on Dartmoor starting from Princetown down to Burrator & back, I scared myself half to death on this simple trail but I was hooked on the adrenaline rush from riding over such rough terrain & surviving. I’m now a regular weekend warrior & I’ve added a full susser to my stable.

Takisawa I feel for you mate I really do. We had to have our old cat put down very recently after 15 happy years, he was gradually deteriorating over the last 6 months & he was sadly diagnosed with a terminal cancer tumor. It was the worse decisions I’ve have had to make to put him out of his misery as he really was part of the family. I cried like a proverbial baby when I left the vets but I knew that I had done the right thing.

As has been said before it is better to remember Fatty McTavish as he used to be fit & healthy and not as he was at the end. Prolonging his suffering & a poor quality of life is not going to do him any favors.

Life is very hard sometimes & we all have to make some $hitty decisions, I hope you do what you think is right even if it pains you even more.

I live out in the sticks & commuting in winter is far too dangerous – I should know I drive instead. I do tend to keep it clean at least once a week tho.

    Thanks Guys for your replies.

I’ve bought enough outer cable to redo the entire household fleet of 3 bikes twice over, plus a few XTR inners & ferrules etc. I quite like the idea of a full length outer first up & if that doesn’t work as I would like then the fallback position is to replace the inners & outers as it is at the moment.

Julian – I am down to do round 2 of the SB & I just hope I can shift this flu in time. This is the first time I’ve had off work being ill for 3 years. One drawback of being home during the day ill is that I’ve managed to spend a fair few quid on various bike bits – only don’t tell the wife :o)

If it’s a picture of your bike make sure the garden is tidy, the grass is cut, fence painted & don’t forget to get your tyre logos & valves lined up :o)

I’d been looking for those things but I wasn’t using the right phrase until you mentioned ‘cable guides’ – you Sir are a star :-)

I’ve just bought some off Wiggle so they should be here tomorrow so I can have a fettle @ the weekend.

Thanks once again for your help. I’m Off to the chemist now to get some flu & sore throat tablets – Ahhhh chooo!!!!! :?

    Thanks Seamus

I’m a bit weary of drilling out the cable stops in case I have to go back to using them again :o(

I’ll see if I can get hold of those cable guides you mentiones or else it’s zip ties.

Glad to be of some help.

I bought my bike brand new & it was after about 4 months when it all kicked off. Propel are aware of this seal problem & should fix it FOC even if the warranty has expired as a goodwill gesture. I hope you get them sorted soon.

My K24’s were great for about the first 4 months then I had a problem with the levers where they almost came to the bar before they would work. Not being technically adept at fixing brakes & the fact they were still under warranty I went back to my lbs. Cutting a long story short the lbs returned them to Propel (?) who checked them out & apparently there was a known problem with one of the seals in the master cylinder reacting to the brake fluid which caused this, they changed the seals & hey presto they are working fine once again. Not sure whether this is similar to your problem but you might want to check with Propel just in case especially if they are still under warranty.

Civil Servant for huge Government Financial department.

I was a Risk analyst until 2nd Jan when my job ceased to exist, I then started with a new department on 5th Jan as an Investigator. Today, my second day in my new job, I’m at home because of man-flu, not the greatest start to my career in my new department :( Even working for a Government Department isn’t safe these days. We merged with another Govt department in 2005 & have lost 12,500 jobs in the last 3 years & there are plans to lose another 12,500 jobs in the next 3 years.

Hi girls, I hope your ride goes OK on Saturday & that everyone has a great time. Sorry I wont be there as it’s a 500 mile round trip for me & I’m not feeling too hot at the moment with the winter lurgy.

Is Rocketdog still going to pitch up in his leopard print outfit?
