deffo report it, he’s obviously a dangerous person if he did it deliberately & maybe a word from the Police will change his attitude towards cyclists.

On the other hand this maynot be the first time he’s done this to a cyclist & your reporting it will mean its about time the Police took action.

Nice summary ontor & an even handed view from someone East of the Tamar

It’s still very new & work in progress down there, I believe that other sections will be built on to the current stuff open with plans for some black runs too.

Personally I agree that the climb up to ‘Hells teeth’ is a lot of effort for small reward, however that being said I’m not a fan of the sharp downhill switchbacks on t’other side. We go down to do a series of laps normally 3+ to get some mileage in & as has been said it will be a great all weather destination when the moors are leaking wet & hardly rideable. The cafe is great & they don’t turn you away if you’re covered in crud.

I’ve ridden @ Haldon for many years & I’m glad I don’t have to do the 100 mile round trip now I have something suitable less than 30 mins away & no bridge toll :-)

Some cracking stories very funny, here is my contribution from yesterday

Fast asleep in bed @ 4am, my beloved possibly soon to be re-homed cat Crystal decided to sink her claw into my big toe. Unsurprisingly I went from deep sleep to wide awake in half a nanosecond & sat bolt upright. Unfortunately I happened to be sleeping on the edge of the bed at the time & duly exited off the bed stage left hitting the back of my head on the bedside table drawer handle on the way to the floor, resulting in 1 x small cut & sore bump to head and 1 x sore @rse from hitting the floor from 3 feet. My wife wondered WTF was going on & found it all rather funny – Lol ……. cats don’t you just lurve them

Yep, nice flowy trails about 4.5 miles of blue with two sections of red now open.

There is a cafe & they are building some new toilets too.

There will be other sections opened in the future too.

    Fantastic news & well done.

I hope your lad has a long & healthy life after overcoming this illness.

All the best to your wife on the London marathon too.

Blimey we are not a great advert for our sport with all the injuries we’ve sustained MTBing :?

Good luck to all those who are receiving treatment for their injuries/illnesses & get well soon.

After a serious RTA at age 19 I had to give up all forms of sport.
A permanent nerve injury means that I have no bicep or tricep muscles on my right arm, luckily my right hand still works so I can change gear & brake but going downhill I am effectively riding one-handed which is very interesting to say the least.

4 years ago I was diagnosed with skin cancer but fortunately it was caught at an early stage & the melanoma was removed in two operations, the second one has left me with a large zig-zag scar on my shoulder as a constant reminder of how lucky I am, another 12 months & I will hopefully get the ‘all clear’.

I resumed playing footie again nearly 10 years ago & I now regularly play twice a week & usually get a couple XC rides in too.

I’m 52 this year & I think I’m probably fitter now than when I was 17 or 18 years old. Life is good & I intend to make the most of it while I’m still here.

Last week I bought this as a present to myself cos life is too short.

My eyes are so bad I need vari-focal glasses all the time.

I tried riding & for some bizarre reason night riding with my vari-focal glasses on. The main problem was depending on where you looked through the lens the ground was either very close or miles off not really what you want when out night riding.

I now use disposable daily contact lenses for riding/sport but as I’m tight I re-use them a few times. I also use wrap around glasses on top to stop the wind drying my eyes out, for summer I use some nice Nike wrap round glasses & haven’t had any more problem with loosing lenses.

I never did alot of drinking in my younger days 18 to 25 & only really went for it when my first marriage broke up in my late twenties.

I found that I had a very low tolerance to alcohol & would get legless after a few pints. I then got into MTBing & I realised that getting rat@rsed the night before meant I spent valuable riding time feeling like shite & not riding

I then reduced my intake to the extent that I rarely drank & I haven’t had a drop since 2008, plus I haven’t missed any rides due to a hangover.

At first the main problem I had was with my friends still buying me beer when I wanted a soft drink, eventually they came to accept that I wasn’t drinking anymore & now its not an issue.

No. 1 bike – is perfect might be due to the fact I only got it on Thursday :D

No. 2 bike – has knackered RS forks which are still working & drive train is very worn.

No. 3 bike – has knackered Fox Talas forks which are still working (just) & RP23 on it’s way out.

Looking to run the forks into the ground on 2 & 3 then look to get some s/h forks.

If you want a scenic route then you’re not too far from the Tarka Trail.

OK it’s a cycle path but a great ride over to Bideford/Barnstaple/Braunton along the river/esturay well worth a visit.

Sorry to hear you are having radiotherapy mate & all the best.

As rexated says keep thinking about riding the Q’s on your next new Whyte & we must have a ‘remission riders ride’ up there sometime soon.

I run the Deore 12 – 36T cassette & ok it’s not the lightest but I’m prepared to put up with that for the monster 36T granny ring :D

I actually use the 11T small ring from an old 11 – 34T cassette rather than the 12T ring as I use the bike for commuting too.

The only problem I had was getting the mech below the 36T ring & I had to use a longer bolt on the Mech to ensure it cleared it.

As above you can rely on Smudge sorting things out even though things aren’t too good for him & his family at the moment.

I’ve never been let down by him in all my dealings with him & I won’t be going anywhere else anytime soon.

Take care Smudge & all the best to your Dad.
