Crispy, are you saying the money they give still costs them significantly less than the amount the cheque was written out for?

No. If they write out a cheque for 50K then 50K should be deducted from their Directors loan account – effectively the amount is coming out of the Millionaires own pocket albeit via the vehicle of the Directors loan account.

Personally I feel the program has now lost it’s ‘edge’, as any new stranger in a deprived area rocking up with a cameraman in tow looking for a good cause to help out has got to be suspicious as a potential ‘Secret Millionaire’. IMHO ever since that Les geezer from London gave away 250K the rest have all seemed to be miserly in comparison.

I’ve watched this program a few times & I think the premise is that the Millionaire gives his/her own money to what they consider to be a just or deserving cause.

The fact that the cheques the Millionaire hands over are maybe from a business account doesn’t necessary mean that the business will claim this amount as a genuine business expense. Most high net worth individuals operate as Directors through Limited companies, just in case it all goes Pete Tong, as such the amounts handed over as gifts should be deducted from their Directors loan account.

After doing the BHF Norwich 100m charity cycle ride on my Halfrauds Y-framed 37lb full susser I decided to ride the Devon coast to coast route. I rode from Callington in Cornwall to Plymouth & I then rode route 27 – 110 miles, 10hrs & one very sore behind later 😕 I made it to Ilfracombe. Stayed in a B&B overnight then rode back home the next day. I would like to say that it was when I was in my yoof, but alas it was only 4 years ago.

Off road probably the 35miles on the Exmoor Explorer 🙂

I’ve got Formula K24’s & I now use Superstar organic pads £20 for 4 sets after orignally paying a whopping £15 a set for OEM ones.

I’ve not had any falling off the backing plate issues & as I’m still alive they have done their job to stop my bike. I’m sure that the SSC haters will be along soon to put an alternative spin on this but IMHO I haven’t had any problems, I like them & I’ll continue to buy them.

I have risers & bar ends but I haven’t got any Ron Hill’s tho 🙂

It may look an odd combination to some people but for the rider they are well worth the time & effort fitting them. They give you the benefit of another riding position when climbing & a lower stretched out position when descending.

The cure for cold/wet feet for me is a pair of Shimano MW80’s (a size bigger than normal) & a pair of sealskinz socks. Had a blast round Brechfa on Saturday in the wet, windy & cold weather but my feet were fine at the end.

    d) 0% – I always wear contact lenses when riding & I need to wear eye protection to stop the crap getting in them & to stop the lenses being blown out.

Can anyone who did the intermediate group ride with Charlie & Andy Bev on Saturday do me a big favour please. I’m an OS map & crayon sort of chap & a GPS system is beyond me – I’ve only just worked out how to use me mobi 😀 i’ve got most of the route we rode but there are a few bits I can’t decide on.

Anyway has anyone got the route on GPS which they can plot onto an OS map of the area & send the link to my email or post the link on here.

    Cheers

Firstly I’d like to exend my heartfelt ‘Thanks’ to those who made yesterday such a fantastic success. Aleigh for coming up with the idea of a Quantocks ride & for Sharki, Knottie, Charlie, the bikeshop bloke & other local Q’s riders for making this a memorable experiance, they even managed to get us some superb dry sunny weather too 8)

I’m definitely coming back for more of the Q’s in the not too distant future & I’ll be bringing my mates along so they too can join in the fun.

Here are some pics of the action

Been running both sintered & orgasmic flavour on my rigs with no problems other than the sintered pads squealed a lot so I changed them for organic. I’ve had no backplate issues & they work as good as the OEM ones costing loads more.

just sorting out the SSC warranty claim for you Trailmonkey with a few questions:

    Are you an aerospace engineer?
Have you ever flown in an aeroplane?
Have you ever eaten an Aero?
Did ColinEllis fit them for you?
Did you find it necessary to employ the use of a rock to aid fitting? if so what size
Do you own &/or use a Dirtworker/Jetwash to clean your bike?
Did you bed the pads in according to the STW massive school of how it should be done properly?
Did you in fact ride your bike with an Octopus in your camelbak?

richcc – not too sure about the price drop when the weather warms up mate personally I couldn’t wait that long 😕

What I found from other people’s reviews was that Shimano boots come up on the small size as such I took a bit of a punt & bought online as I couldn’t find a shop stocking them near me, I went for a size 43 instead of my usual 42 & they fit me just right 😀

I got some Shimano MW80’s & I have to say they have been very good at keeping my feet both warm & dry. I managed to get a pair for under £100 which was a bargain & is the most i’ve spent on footwear both on or off the bike 🙂

Maybe time to get another pair of Shimano’s swadey ?
