My aunt had a very long history of mental illness & finally she could take things no more & age 50 she killed herself.

About 10 years ago a work colleague & friend couldn't cope with the break up of a relationship on top of other issues he had from things he saw in the army in Northern Ireland. He had one attempt but stepping out in front of a motorbike was unsuccessful, sadly the second attempt using a car, hose pipe & bottle on Vodka was 🙁

Both left family & friends asking questions about why they did it & could they have done something to help/prevent it.

My best mate attempted it once but it was more like a cry for help & was a hard lesson learned. We have always kept in touch & even now he's 12,000 miles away we are there for each other if needed.

Tempted to go for CO2 too but I like to use the old inner tube to check where the puncture position is within the tyre using a pump.

This can easily be achieved using the Innovations second wind mini pump – see my first post above for a link – I do use the hand pump function exactly as you state to look for the puncture area. However using CO2 to inflate the tyre is soooo easy…………..

was the puncture caused by running over a Topeak Rocket AL road pump ? 😉

but at that price with a recommendation can't really go wrong

To be honest once you try CO2 & see how easy it is to inflate tyres without any effort at all you won't want to go back to a manual pump in a hurray. I buy my CO2 cartridges from Tyre Inflators in bulk & it's the cheapest place I can find.

I've actually got 2 x second winds one for each bike bag 😀

I keep one of these in my Topeak saddle bag (large) – Innovations second wind mini pump .

It's a CO2 jobbie & a normal pump combined it will do both Presta & Schrader valves & is a smart small piece of kit – you wont be disappointed 🙂

I use the innovations second wind mini pump which uses both CO2 & can be a normal mini pump.

Fantastic piece of kit & I never leave home on my bike without it.

the benefit of working flexi-time is you can take time off during the week especially if it's nice & sunny riding weather 😆 although you do have to make those hours up hopefully when it's wet 😕

Now I may not be a seasoned cyclist, but you ask Mark what happened at Kielder Water a year or so back and you will find that I can whoop his ass when it comes to hills!!

Lol – now now, I don't want you two having a barney on my account. Sounds like Mark needs to get some gears or Meg needs to slow down a bit 😆

    Take care guys

Fantastic news Mark that you are back on your bike again so soon after your heart operation 🙂

Your determined spirit will stand you in good stead to beat this disease & getting exercise on your bike will improve your fitness & de-stress your mind.

If you are not going too far or too fast perhaps Meg can join you next time?

Take care & please keep posting the updates

    The simple answer is 'Yes'.

You will need to complete a 'Self Employed' page for the business & there is a box you complete to claim the 'loss' against other income.

yet another vote for MW80s. Bought a pair last Winter & they are great in both the Wet & cold. I also bought a pair one size bigger than normal to accommodate Sealskinz socks. They are not cheap but out on the trail when you've got warm dry feet they are well worth the expense 🙂

great pics Knottie – as always.

I managed to get out today for a local bimble after the storms & spent half my time moving trees & branches off the trail, plus the streams were raging river torrents. Here are a few of my pics…
