Crikey, I only went past it last Sunday on our ride to Lustleigh Cleave & back.

I'll miss it cos it always surprises the new guys riding with us who don't know it's there. A sad day indeed & I hope it reappears somewhere else tho.

The view down the valley ……..

    Carpe Diem

We start at the car park just past Pentwyn Reservoir & to the left of Torpantau. The last time we also did the Dolygaer extension as HughStew above alluded to, a great descent after a tough long climb tho.

Done it twice & riding South to North is IMHO the better way round with a great 4km decent the other side … see pic

Head round towards Talybont village & great food in the Star Inn pub or the Royal Oak pub at Pencelli.

    Have fun 😆

That Princetown loop is pretty tame just right for a SS with 1.3 CX tyres on 😉

My Innovations Second Wind pump is a dual CO2 & mini pump & fantastic value for money IMHO. I have two of them, one for each bike & they do both Schrader & Presta valves.

One 16g cart will normally pump a 26" x 2.1 tyre to approx. 35psi-ish, it depends on the tyre tho some are narrow & the pressure can be higher, others are maybe wider & the pressure is slightly less. I tend to test them with my thumb, too soft pump more air in, too hard let some out. I can't be ar$ed to carry a gauge with me.

I don't run tubeless so I can't answer that question, however I've been using a CO2 cartridge system to pump up tyres/tubes for the last 3 years & I'll never go back to a hand pump again. You clip it on to the valve, press the button & Hey Presto it's inflated job done 2 secs.

I got my Innovations second wind CO2 pump & my cartridges from Tyre Inflators they are the cheapest place I can find to get spare carts.

Thanks once again Knottie for letting me ride with your Wednesday crew, it was a great Q's ride yet again despite the rain.

Will try to persuade Mrs CB that we 'erm need to visit Taunton again on a Wednesday 😉

Scraprider – it's a 6ish meet @ the Crowcombe Car park, which was the starting point on the big STW Q's ride last year. I got back to Exeter in about 50mins tonight.

    Thanks tthew.

It does have the same 4 bolt holes so I think that it might actually fit. I'll speak to the LBS about it.

I'm a wimp & run a 34T rear cassette, that being said it is noticeable when I ride my other bike with a 22T inner ring that the hills are much easier, a 26T inner could be even harder on the hills.

I've not ventured that far north on Dartmoor but I think Snaps knows a few routes if you can get hold of him.

I went to Abbeyford Woods [/url] north of Okehampton once but there wasn't a lot of decent XC trails in there, I did however find some seriously scary northshore tho.

Assuming you are starting in Cornwall, Lands End by any chance? then the Eden Project would be a good place to go although you need to go for at least half a day to do it justice.

In Devon then driving through Dartmoor would be good, if the weather is OK, the scenery is fantastic.

Certini bike shop in Saltash near Plymuff. Great service as always from the staff & lots of banter.

We chewed the fat over a ride I guided the week before for the guys & they gave me some advice on a small problem on my bike. For once I managed not to buy anything which is very hard as it's also a Specialized Concept Store & full of very shiny lovely biking stuff 😆

I have always found them very helpful & they are the only bikeshop I would trust with my bikes.

I had a stonkin commute too today both in to work & back home again crossing the Devon & Cornwall border via the Tamar Bridge.

It was dry, sunny & very warm rather than wet. I did my PB for the year a total time of 1hr 49mins for the 30 miles 😆

I'm running one on the rear & it's great on the dry trails. Not ridden in the wet/muddy conditions as I've got really mud tyres for that.
