I have emailed unite components, as there’s states compatible with sram but mentions nothing about shimano. I have orders a shimano chain along with everything else. Defo go don’t wanna be ordering new cranks

OK cheers, I’ll get some ordered. Wondered if it was a blind hole or just carried on

Well, that’s what mine had, they have honoured warranty on both so doubt its normal

There should be a tighter tolerance than that. You mean back and forward play?

Perhaps I have just been unlucky, but could feel the play whilst pedalling on both posts, dud my head in

Both posts developed enough play that you could feel it, hear it and easily see the rubber seal at the top flexing around.

Thinking one up, koryak ( although basically the same?) or crank brothers

Where can I even get the microspline freehub? Nowhere seems to have it?

I have a blackspire snaggletooth chairing that does not play well with a sram chain. Do would have to be careful there

If your mix and matching, what chain are you using? May be a good idea for me to change derailleur and shifter first I guess

That’s the thing, very few occasions when I find the need for a bigger gear, but, gonna cost me roughly the sane to buy All fresh 11 seed so seems I might as well. Would also mke it more saleable I would think

People do seem to rate the shimano stuff. Cassettes are a lot more reasonable as well. Any reason you opted for xt cassette and shifter but slx mech?

Think I’ll just go for the NX then, see no reason to spend more to save a few grams

So, any reason not to just get the NX then?

I have actually gone for the bodge and cable tied an old spesh cage on to see if it suits. Have also ordered a bottle with a cap!! I am, unfortunately , way too quick to spend on an idea I may not like!!

I did think about the bumbag option. One other thing to mention, I currently use an evoc pack with a spine protector. The spine protector is the one thing that makes me wanna keep the bag, or is it overkill

Yeah, not sure what to do now. Had a good look and it also seems like my mech is twisted, which obvs isn’t helping

It is a sram, have had it working pretty well at one point, but seems like it’s a aways at maximum tension.

OK, so, I re tried with the tesa tape. Pulled as tight as I physically could, then put a tube in and left overnight. So far so good, tyre is holding well and it’s definitely easier to manipulate tyre and insert without catching tape. Like a total plum, I’ve put the tyre on backwards!! 😂

I have those rims too, can’t see it working at all. Back to gorilla for me, even if it means possibly changing tape after each tyre change

Well, I tried the tesa tape today, CANNOT get it to stick in the recess at all. As soon as I push it in it pulls the sides up. Whether it’s a deep Centre well I don’t know, but can’t see it working at all. Back to the drawing board. Used a hairdryer to warm it up but doesn’t seem sticky at all

I’ve ordered the tesa tape, see how I get on with that

One thing, the yellow or the more expensive black tesa tape?

    crispy1980

I try the tesa then I think. It is when tyred are removed that cause the issue. Fir instance, I’ve ripped a sidewall, broken a spoke, had wheel trued and fitted inserts. All lead to me having to re tape the rim. Pain in the ass tbh. Hopefully different tape will sort it

I’ve made some alterations. However, I’ve yet to try them after my last disastrous ride! Reverb blew its seals, fluid everywhere. Stick through the spokes taking two out. Remainder of spoke dropped down behind freehub jamming it, and damaging derailleur so gears shit. Couldn’t have gone much worse

Cheers, I think I have the basic understanding of it all. The thing is, I didn’t understand how it feels so amazing on jumps, drops but not so much on bit hits from rocks etc I think I need yo re look at rebound, tas it does seem to ping around a bit. Will experiment anyway and see where I get. Either way, if already is a massive improvement vrr the 4 year old pikes they replaced

Cheers guys! It’s first proper ride, but have already put probably 25 ish miles before today. It is only small bump, e erything else feels awesome. No tokens in yet, teeth grinder, I’m sane weight as you, think ill reset everything and start again, making a note of where I was in case it feels worse

I currently run non boost on my stage 6, no issues at all. I have hope bb with raceface turbine crankset. It’s the cinch chairing that mKes it boost or non boost anyway. One thing with hope bb, the pre load ring needs to only just eliminate play, Amy more and it will fudge the bearings

Start fitness currently have the Fox 36 grip 2 for £719 which seems a bargain, would Match my x2 rear as well!!

Oh, would also consider cane Creek helm, or indeed any other suggestions

No, chain and cassette are both relatively new. But they did come from old bike altogether and had no issues at all. I do think it was tightness of chain, as it had over stretched the derailleur I think. I remembered that id had to take tension off and the derailleur clicked, was OK after that again.

Well, I added two full links., possibly too much now, as in smallest ring chain is basically straight. On a gentle test it does seem much better though

I did the big ring thing, but only at a standstill. Think I’ll add two full links and see

    crispy1980

Cassette is sram 10-42 11 speed, mech is sram gx 11 speed. That’s as the bike stands, no compression. How many extra links? I first measured the chain by going round biggest rings and adding two links, but does seem a little short

I would have liked the hope cranks, but too expensive. My setup is a little different because the boost adaptor for the hope wheels doesn’t boost the cassette out, so ideally need non boost crankset, or chainline will be shit. Should be no issue with frame clearance, if there is I’ll move the nds spacer to the drivesude, and will then have to look out fir a boost rear wheel. Between the adjustability of cranks and spacers I should be able to get it right, I hope!! 😁
