We are doing Bali and Lombok for the first 2 weeks in June.

Fly via Singapore to Lombok and have 5 nights chilling on the beach to recover, 2 nights on an island called Gili where we are going to do a bit of snorkelling, then 5 nights in Bali in the centre for some culture and adventure, then 2 nights in Singapore on the way back.

Wasnt quite as expensive as I was expecting and apparently it’s quite cheap to eat and drink and do things while we’re out there.

Weather that time of year there is meant to be spot on too!

Got out and did Garburn and Sadgill today!

Bit of snow on garburn, especially the troutbeck side of it. Rode over to longseddle too and the bridleway was a right mess, the works on it have left it in really bad shape at the moment!

All in all though got in a cracking 32km and the snow didn’t seem to slow me down that much!

    Couple of pics.

Right ok, cheers for that. WIll bear it in mind.

What other routes round there are there that will be holding up well after the snow and rain we have had of late?

Coming from Preston way so open to other ideas!!

Mrs Crispo away this weekend so I have a selection of beers for this evening (Coniston, Hawkshead, Tirril, Thwaites) a nice fat pizza and Pulp Fiction on blu ray to enjoy when I get back from the gym this evening.

As its the end of the week I might manage to stop for a pint at a local immediately post-gym to rehydrate myself!

    Can’t be more than 32kg/bag.

Think generally it’s ok to share your allowance between you. Some airlines have funny rules like you have to have the same family name to do it though.

Edit: Cap’n Flash will know, he knows all things BA on here.

We are actually having 5 days on Lombok as a chill out beach type holiday to begin with, and spend some quality time together!

We then have 2 nights on Gili, the small island between Bali and Lombok to do some snorkelling etc.

Then 5 nights near Ubud in Bali and I’m hoping to do some things like hike up the volcano and do a mountain bike ride back down too.

Then 2 nights in Singapore to finish off.

Thanks for the recommendations already flashy, will pick brains closer to the time too!

We are going to Bali for 2 1/2 weeks in June on our honeymoon. We have been told that it’s a great time of year to visit weather wise.

We stop in Singapore on the way back for a couple of nights. Will be posting some ‘recommend me things to do/places to eat &drink’ type threads closer the time I should think so maybe picking people’s minds then!

We buy any car buy cars with finance owed on them. Probably not an incredible price but they sort out the outstanding finance and everything.

I’ll keep a look out on my way into work. I drive up and down ribbleton lane every morning and evening so I’ll keep my eyes peeled!

    Chaos + 1

We’ve had some Hardon Kardon soundsticks plugged into ours for the last few years and the sounds great. Can easily be unplugged from telly and swapped to iPod or laptop for music listening. Think you can get them for less than £100 now too!

First ever ride at Llandegla on Saturday morning. Beautiful weather and a fantastic ride. Can’t believe that’s the first time I’ve been there, will definitely be heading back there at some point.

It was then topped off with a visit to a newly revamped pub some friends are now running. 14 different casks on, fantastic food and the rugby on a big screen!

First ever ride down at Llandegla today.

It was stonking. Beautiful clear and cold day and it’s a fantastic route. Then went and has a cracking meal and a few pints whilst watching the England match this afternoon. All in all a great day!

    I’d rather work 4 x 10.

Not really an option though as when there’s guys on site we need to be here to supervise!

Whatever local ales are on 4 for £5 at asda. I’m heading straight to the gym after work do I have left mrs Crispo to pick me up a selection while she is getting stuff for tea.

Should imagine it will be consumed in front of a film turned up extra loud as the neighbour has just moved out so we have an empty house next door!

I am aware on a course with work all that week.

Mrs Crispo is away the weekends either side of it, so we won’t be doing anything at all this year!

Snow/Slush/Bog up on Longridge fell on Sunday Morning. Still it was a good couple of hours and as we dropped down towards Hurst Green it got better.

The wind was a killer on the road section back to longridge though!

Unfortunately all the really good pubs are out of town in the beautiful surrounding countryside! Best pub that’s in town is probably the continental, proper beer and wine and apparently the food is pretty good!

Im 25 and have been putting into one for the last couple of years since I started working.

At the minute I put in 5% and company puts in 5% and I don’t pay tax on my contributions. Wether it’s worth it in 40 years time when I come to retire – I don’t know! I’m just looking at it as being a long term savings plan! If I didn’t put it away before it came in my pay cheque I think I would waste it!

Will have a look at the boiler and control unit and get some pictures up.

By the sound of it I can get one of these units that a few of you have and sounds like what I need. Have a friend who is a sparky so could be a job for him if it just needs wiring into existing control unit!

Thanks for all the help so far!

Back from my Stag Do in Switzerland. An incredible 5 days with waist deep powder, blue bird skies, an immense day watch the Lauberhorn Downhill from the finish grandstand (including chanting and chatting with Ed Leigh and Graham Bell and running around the media and athlete area in a Gorilla suit) and more après ski than you can contemplate in only 5 days!

Will update with some pics and vids later!

Also well done CK – glad you took up a few of the suggestions and hopefully made the trip all that more special! Sounds like you have a great excuse to keep going back there!

    Sorry.

No haven’t paid for the repairs yet. I was meaning that ill be out of pocket for a while as i will have to pay the excess until it gets settled! Just seems a bit of a bugger when you’ve not done anything at all wrong!

Can I tell my insurance I have a preference of where does the repairs!?

    Thanks

6 more sleeps until I head out to Wengen on my Stag. So excited about it now, looking at the forecast it’s getting cold and the snow is on its way too!!

Andy – we did Chamonix for a weekend last March which was great. It’s less than an hour from Geneva do easy to get to, which means fly out Friday evening and back on Sunday night and still get two full days skiing in! Plenty of reasonably high slopes too so good snow still too!

Well was planning on taking it into the local body shop this week to get a price to fix and then put it to her if she wants to do it through insurance or she just wants to settle it without insurance. Not really keen on the whole claiming against people thing.

If it does go through insurance will it add onto the premium? Also it’s my insurance with her as a named driver so if it was to go through it wouldn’t affect my no claims would it?

My specific job role – no you couldn’t get it without (graduate civil engineer)

To do the job – you COULD learn from on the job training but most firms will insist on some form of either degree of HND or HNC (not sure what’s what) to degree level. Most definitely to be a chartered engineer!

We were out in Whistler last year visiting my brother when he was working a season!

Skiing wise it depends what kind of skiing your after as what to recommend.

When we were there we had 2m of fresh snow in 9 days so skied powder everyday! Favourite play areas were the frees underneath Crystal chair. It’s a natural snow bowl and a bit quieter so got many a tree run in the deep stuff! The Crystal hut is great for a break and the waffles and Mac and cheeses are the business!

On the last day when the sun came out we really enjoyed skiing from the peak chair all the way down. Mrs Crispo isn’t quite as keen on deep snow with no visibility but she loved the blue bowl up there.

If your more after cruisy runs then you have to ski all the way down to Creekside. It’s a massive long run and the food at Dustys is unbelievable….. Literally anything you have is immense. The chicken wings, yam fries and a pint of Alexander Kieths IPA was the best ski lunch I’ve had!

Other good places for End of day beer and food is Merlins at Blackcomb day lodge. First night we ate there and the portion of nachos fed 5 of us!! At the end of the day has a great après feel to it with ski and board films on, big pitchers of beer and a dj in a gondola!

I mix then up as if I was doing them normally, 3 eggs, splash of milk, salt and pepper. The key with cooking them is to do them bit by but to stop it just forming one solid blob. I do 30 secs at a time then mix again. Ready in less than 2 mins and a good consistency too!

Walking in the Forest of Bowland on Saturday.

Lee and Cragg quarry riding on Sunday which was cracking.

My aim this year is to get a lot more variation in my riding locations!

I rode it today and was in really good nick!

There is the odd bit that is quite claggy, at the bottom of some of the swoops bits too, but generally very good considering how wet it’s been.

Make sure you link it in with Cragg, had forgotten how good it is up there. Personally I think I prefer Cragg to Lee.
