Flaperon – guessing you didn’t watch it or you’d have seen what happened to the smug guy!!

Really enjoyed that though, some good telly for a Monday night.

There’s a loop from Chipping that takes the bridleways over to Dunsop Bridge which is good, the way back is a bit roadie though. Some good riding on it, about 22km with 400m vertical I think.

A lot of the riding around here gets very boggy but that route should be ok at the moment. There more riding at Dunsop on the fells to the north but not sure if they’re a bog at the moment!

If you want can send a link to the Chipping ride.

    Thanks for the comments.

I think it’s something like a Maxx D I’m after, just wondered what the cheaper alternatives were (if any). Seems like you get what you pay for so if I can pick one up for £250ish sounds like a good deal.

What’s the burn time like? I’m guessing plenty if you toggle between power settings depending on riding type.

+1 for The Castle pub, we are there when we went for a weekend staying at the Youth Hostel. Cracking food after a long day in the saddle around edale, hope and Ladybower!

Also they had some great beers on if you like that, Thornbridge Jaipur!!

It totally depends, if going into a regular pub for a pint will just order without checking. If drinking something more exotic in a bar or restaurant then will have a glance at the price list.

Saturday the plan was to ride Farleton Knott, parked up and the plough, down across the ford and half way up the first climb my riding buddy snapped his rear mech hanger without a spare. Ride aborted and we were back to the car after 5km and only 30mins!

Decided not to waste the day so went walking in the Bowland Hills above Dunsop Bridge with Mrs Crispo. Lovely scenic hike and a well earned pint of Landlord at the Whitewell to end!

Sunday did a belting ride. Parked at Hartsop and went up to Hayeswater, along to Angletarn and Boredale Hause, down into Boredale and then round the Ullswater bridleway all the way back. One of the best rides out I’ve had in a long long time!

    Summer: Fruit and Fibre.
Winter: Porridge, normally with blueberries or raspberries chucked in.

Love a blow out breakfast at the weekend though. Eggs Benedict or Smoked Salmon with scrambed eggs are top of the bill!

    Wengen in Switzerland.

Resort is car free, so nice and safe for little ones. There is nursery slopes in town plus some others higher up that you can get the train too. There’s an outdoor rink for ice skating and there is more sledging than you could do in a week!

Lots of nice cruisey blues and reds for rebuilding confidence on.

Not the most lively night life but a couple of après ski outdoor bars and loads of good mountain restaurants!

I went to a talk from the then Chairman of HS2 a few years ago.

The thing that struck me (as mentioned) is that the marketing for it is all wrong! With the WCML at capacity it had always been about increasing the capacity of the train lines. I think if people realised that rather than just thinking its 15mins of the train time it would be perceived a lot better.

We went to Whistler last winter. We had to fly from Manchester to Amsterdam then onto Vancouver.

Flights were pretty good though, was really impressed with KLM.

I’m a grad civil engineer currently working on a new build road scheme.

I’m not a local authority engineer but we are working with the council and I know where to find most of the design specs if its related to that. I will try and help if I can!

Really need to get out one night this week and next weekend!!

Grizedale is only really any good if you throw in some of the local stuff too. If you get a map of the area just mix in some of the bridleway loops (parkamoor down to satterthwaite is belting and there’s fun to be had dropping down towards lake coniston too!)

A really good bet is to stop in at Wheel base in Staveley. Pick up some route guides from there but you can ride kentmere and garburn pass from there and finish off with a Windermere pale from the brewery too!

Good rides from Ambleside too. We have down one which takes in Loghrigg Terrace, ironkeld, langdales, elterwater and Rydal water before. Probably available in pull out form from Wheelbase for ease of navigation!

First time I’ve watched it tonight.

Do they ever have mountain bikes on it?

Sounds like Mary Kings Close is going to be on the list then. Is it an all day jobby or just an hour or two tour? Mrs Crispo wants to see the castle so looks like that might be on the list now too.

Centotre looks really good, might give that a try. Have had a place called Steak recommended too, anyone been there?

Sounds like a good few ideas for things to see and do.

So give me your favourite places to eat and drink! We arrive at about 8ish on friday so something local to our hotel (york place) would be good for a bite and a drink. And all options considered for saturday/sunday!

    I had a cracking weekend.

Friday was spent sorting the garden ready for a BBQ weekend. So a couple of beers were enjoyed in the sun whilst testing out the new Weber!

Saturday watch the Lions test, fettled with bikes and then had all the in laws round for a big BBQ! The kebabs went down a storm and many beers were drunk. We then retired to my ‘man cave’ to test out the new telly and cinema surround system!

Sunday involved a cracking ride at Gisburn! It was boiling hot but it was my first ride of the new sections and the skills loop! It really is cracking how it keeps evolving! We then watched the tennis on the big screen and finally rounded it off with another BBQ with a few celebratory drinks.

Luckily mrs Crispo is out this evening so going for a ride round Farleton Knott after work. Looking forward to more dusty trails…..

Have stayed at the Devonshire fell but unfortunately it’s fully booked! That’s the kind of thing I’m looking for!

Angel is booked up to! That’s what happens when you leave it until after the honeymoon to look!

That’s the kind of area I’m looking at though!

I was at a wedding in Keswick so mine went like this.

Massive reunion Friday night which ended up out of hand. Some how I managed to make it up at 7.30 for a blast along the c2c to Threlkeld then up blease road to Lonscale Fell. Back along and down Lattrigg to bring me back in 1.20 for a full English and Buck’s Fizz! Cracking ride with an awesome jumpy down hill at the end!

The rest of the day was spent drinking, eating and enjoying a great day!

Sunday was a right off with a cheeky couple of recovery pints on Sunday afternoon, a curry and an early night!

Cheers for the heads up about walkers. I’ll take it a but easy down there then if it’s looking busy. Probably should anyway to make sure I don’t injure myself for ushering duties!

I should be out fairly early as I am an usher so need to be ready by 10.45.

Sounds like a good little blast then.

We get married in just under 2 weeks time.

I’m 25 and mrs Crispo to be is 24.

To be completely honest we are both from very fortunate backgrounds and our parents have insisted on paying for the wedding for us. I’ve obviously paid for honeymoon, rings, hotel for the night, gifts for parents/ushers etc.

To be honest I dread to think what the total cost has come to, we’re having 120 day guests then another 40odd for the evening. Think we are expecting a few more at church too. That’s just the way it is when you have a big family and lots of close family friends. All I know is that I am very very grateful that we’ve had so much support!

I honestly can’t wait for it now!

We are getting married in two weeks time in the Ribble Valley.

Marriage is at St Peters church, Stonyhurst. Reception is at the Tithebarn at Browsholme hall. Lovely old stone barn and the caterers are amazing! Really looking forward to it now!

Planning on riding Longridge Fell with my best man the morning of the wedding, finishing up outside the church for a quick photo for the wedding album!

Work as an Engineer for a big Civils/Construction company.

    Our standard is 45 hours/week.

When I got my contract they sent me through the opt out for EU working time directive. I signed it as I wanted the job. I’m young so progressing and more money are more important then only working 9-5!

I hadn’t realised he was nicknamed Bart. I saw the press conference on the news this morning and thought the boss of the team had slipped up his words as he called him Bart Simpson then corrected it to Andrew Simpson! 8O

Would it be possible to pick up an entry level DSLR for £250 then?

I don’t know much about cameras, just want to have the best pics possible from our trip!

Thanks stumpy, will have a look at what you’ve got, pics look really nice, especially that first one.

Looks like there is a few from all the main brands at around £180 with similar zooms and MP so will have a look for online reviews I think.

Well shows how much I know about cameras then!

Thanks for those two initial ideas, will do a bit of research into them this evening. Just want a solid performer to get the best of the honeymoon snaps.

    Are bridge cameras worth considering?

Think it was more a social pootle around Bali with the mrs rather than contending with the streets of Singapore! Thanks for the info though. Is Singapore expensive to eat out and sightsee?

Anyone with Bali or Lombok experience!?
