Surely how stiff you want the boot depends on the ski aswell?

The reason many expert skiers have stiffer boots is that the skis (on piste skis) tend to be alot stiffer than intermediate skis. With a stiffer ski more force and power needs to be put through the ski and a stiffer boot helps to do this.

Completely agree with the comments about skiing with them undone, we used to train like this to improve technique, but youd always want them done up for skiing hard.

I think most important thing is to consider the type of skiing youre going to be doing most of the time and take it from here.

Its easy to sharpen with a glove on, thin glove on your right hand, nothing on your left and then use check the edge with the left.

A few years ago I ended up having an op on my hand after going through it with the edge when sharpening, think thats why I am a little more inclined to wear a glove now!

Sharkbait – are you saying do or dont wear a glove for sharpening edges?

1 more tip, if youre going to do the edges by hand wear a glove, I have some great scars from sharpening the edges of my skis!

Also ideally for wax you want to use the correct one for the temp snow you intend to be boarding on! Different waxs melt at different temperatures and thus react differently depending on the snow type they’re used on.

What do you mean “working on the edges”

I assume you mean sharpening so for that you would need a file and an angle tool, which keeps the file at the correct angle whilst sharpening the edges.

Theres some really nice long blue runs from Kleine Sheidegg all the way down to Grindelwald through the trees which are good fun, stop halfway down for apple fritters at Brandegg……very tasty!

I love the entire Jungfrau region! Its not the most challenging/most number of runs/highest of places but none of that really matters because there is more than enought to keep most people entertained!
Skiing wise things to do depends on your ability. Lauberhorn downhill run is good fun. Non skiing the first flyer is a massive long zip wire thats meant to be good and theres also loads of tobogganing too.
Also Piz Gloria at Murren is an amazing revolving restaurant from James Bond fame and a really good ski down, deffinately worth the trek over from Grindelwald.
When are you there because theres loads of events on during the winter season?

Im a skier and I wear one most of the time, however it does depend on what type of skiing im planning on doing on that day and who Im skiing with.

Yes there are a couple of sections and they are usually fairly slick in the wet. Cant remember from last year how bad they were in the ice, just keep of the brakes and youll survive!

Just generally getting out on the bike as much as possible. Also if im riding anything tricky and I dont make it up/or down in one I go back and ride it again to try and nail it!

This isn’t the most insightful comment but if youve tried the Sunlines and liked them why not go with them? All about the samish price anyway arent they!?

Used my new light on a little outing last night, just a couple hours blast around the local woods. Firstly overall was very impressed by it!

The light it gave out on high was more than ample for even the techy downhill bits, I tended to find the low setting was fine for everything except flying downhill quickly! I was comparing it the a Hope 4 that the guy I was riding with had and IMHO the light was just as good as that coming from the Hope.

It was a wet night and seemed nice and water tight and the mounting bracket kept it very well in position all night.

In referance to those points from DBW I was a bit worried about the velcro but wrapped it round my stem and it was fine, aslong as its wrapped round nice and tight it coped with being shaken about fine. I was also out for about 2 hours and the light stayed green for about an hour then was blue by the way back, i guess its because its got 5 different light colours that its gets through them a bit quicker than green then straight to red.

Overall we came to the conclusion for £88 its a cracking light!

My Spokeshirts light arrived yesterday so planning on having my first outing tonight! My knowledge of lights is relatively limited but will try write up a little review of it after the ride, going to be riding with my my girlfriends dad who has a Hope 4 so can compare it to that?

First impressions of it are good though, bar mount looks sturdy, nice bright beam coming from it and been very impressed by quick delivery!
