Just caught up with all 3 races. As Ryder said on Eurosport, that was the most aggressive GP race ever. Well at least for the first 12 laps or so. Brilliant to watch; I thought Dani was on a bonus to take out Jorge, but brilliant passing and re-passing for what seemed like corner after corner.

I still remember what a moron Marquez could be at times through his 125 and moto2 career, but there’s no doubting his talent on the bike. I thought he was going to try to re-pass Pedrosa, and not doing so (as well as letting Jorge & Dani fight it out) was probably the best decision he’s made to date.

Interesting to hear Marquez wonder whether the title had come “too soon” in the interview.

Biggest disappointment was that’s the end of Eurosport coverage. I’ve been watching it for about 15 years and I won’t be swapping to BT or paying a kings’ ransom for the DORNA online “pass”. Nice “montage” at the end of the show, but surprisingly little said. Wasn’t sure if that meant Moody & Ryder (and Spalders) were off to BT maybe as such as small song and dance made.

    🙁

Don’t you think though there’s a distinct possibility he’ll do the latter 🙂 He was totally out of shape in Sector 1 but he came out up one or 2 tenths over Jorge’s time. Bonkers.

Yep, that was a hell of a lap from Marquez. Lorenzo was giving it some fighting talk though re the engine problems he said he was having.

Saddest thing was seeing how gutted Redding was. He just looked utterly hacked off with it all. Can’t see him doing anything tomorrow. Why risk his first GP test. Great to see Rea so high up as well, and Mcphee is announcing his new deal tonight / tomorrow.

Look for your laptop model on youtube. There’ll probably be a strip-down video of it and as you say there will be a CMOS battery inside it somewhere, or a bios reset jumper.

Locate the battery & pull it out for 20 + secs or find the jumper.

A lot of boarding gear tends to be insulated. As above I much prefer to go with a base and a shell. Mid layer optional for when it’s chilly, otherwise I overheat.

TK is brilliant for ski/ outdoor gear IF you’re lucky with your timing. Over the years I’ve had some bargain technical gear including Peak Performance and Halti, but as long as you’ve got a wind and ideally waterproof shell anything will do. In fact I spotted a Halti (excellent finnish brand) 850 fill down jacket in TK today for the princely sum of £99. I will be ebaying my Rab!

I’ve got a couple of Norrona jackets but they’re not really much better than the ME Changabang climbing jacket I ski’d in for a few years. You don’t need a snow skirt in the jacket if you buy one that’s a fairly snug fit (it will also keep you warmer), unless you’re a powder hound.

I will accept the title, for I speak the truth 🙂

Not doubting any of the talent, just the lack of action at the front.

Best race was M3 yet again by a long shot. Well done McPhee. Best finish by far in his career. Absolute crash-fest making the title race wide-open again.

Rea did OK in M2 again. Hopefully he can sort out a full time 2014 ride on a decent package. Missed Kent’s warm up crash that’s apparently bust his collarbone. Sam Lowes should hopefully shake that class up next year though if SpeedUp get their act together.

Didn’t think Redding’s season could get any worse. Watching Tito loose it I was trying to work out where Redding was then the inevitable boom as he hit Tito’s bike. I’m sure Redding’s bike whacked Rabat on the head as well. A real anti-climax (unlike Moto 3 with 3 contenders going in to Valencia).

    MotoGP …. Yawn.

I’ve never understood why someone would choose to watch a video with that type of content. Watching someone being beheaded as a result of a “criminal conviction” or as an act of “terror” isn’t something I want to see.

I don’t have that voyeuristic nature to be interested in watching someone else suffer. Too much empathy.

I do agree with the OP though the imbalance in values or “morals” FB seem to apply are ridiculous.

Interesting thread this. We’ve got oak doors & windows. I CBA with annual maintenance so it’s silvered over time.

Tried Sikkens and Danish oil in the past. Neither were particularly good.

If something’s sheltered though either of the above is fine.

In Leeds this week were a few craft Leopard Trek tops and jackets. As a serial T K maxx shopper, cycling kit is very rare. Lots of the cheap packable Craft jackets as well.

They also sell samples, though they are marked on the ticket. Seconds? Well the Kenzo suit I was about to buy turned out to have a rip in the sleeve. Quite obvious but it wasn’t marked down but I suppose the rip could have happened anywhere in the supply chain.

Yep, I remember watching that as well. Brilliant. 9:25 to 1010, but it’s all funny

    13:25 excellent.

“…but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d had a metal plate inserted in his head…”

“oh please not the cameraman. Fortunately they got the man and not the machinery…”

The world needs more events like this

Sure that commentator still does the Enduro racing on Eurosport.

I think I met Mike at Mayhem this year. If so what a top bloke. He sorted my knackered marta mags out which were a last minute lash up (he went way beyond the call of duty) after being let down by Zyro warranty repairing my MT6s.

haha Dave, I’ll be your “friend”. Shouldn’t you be sorting our trip to Wales? I’ve done a few missions but spent most of my time doing stupid stuff like landing a helo on the blimp and MX / MTB runs from the cable car and random shooting incidents.

Drac, will also send an request to the “crew” tonight. I’m not 12, and don’t shout abuse down the mic 🙂

A spare battery. The life on the 3 Black is awful.

The editing SW from Go Pro is pretty good. Try that before you try something else.

Keep an eye on here / Groupon – I got mine for £270 off there recently.

If I was going for the visual metaphor I’d have picked an oversized inflatable hammer and wore a cape. Rubber mallet and wide eyed spectator didn’t suggest to me this was an attempt at comedy.

Just took 2 Corsas off. One had a bulge almost the size of a 5p in the tread which I didn’t like the look of. Not been that impressed with them. Will see how the Ultremo ZXs compare.

Wrightyson, I was in Mawgan Porth as well this week. Nothing you describe is unusual. I had to call the boat over to a mid 50’s swimmer who seemed to be with someone giving him “instruction”. Next minute I heard “help him” from this person who then seemed to disappear back to the shore. I managed to put the guy on my board and headed back through the break. He started to panic a and came off the board a few times as we headed in, so I called over the rib that was already out checking the water. When they loaded him up I took a proper whack on the head off the keel but was more bothered about finding my fin which somehow got kicked off in the excitement (which thankfully I found floating back in the break).

Two years earlier I saw about 30 swimmers and boarders get sucked out in to a very heavy the break by a rip. I think it was the busiest day the RNLI had, and ended up putting 2 teenage girls (one hysterical) on my bodyboard.

Because it’s RNLI patrolled people seem to loose their sense of self preservation. Crowd mentality prevails, and people progressively get out of their depth / comfort zone because they see other people heading out towards the break and bigger waves so assume it’s OK. The RNLI / Lifeguards do a great job but some people really don’t help themselves.

I tested (all auto estates, and over 3 weeks)the Superb, 520 d and E2nn d. I thought the Superb was the best of the three for a whole variety of reasons, then the 5 and lastly the E.

    Superb
+ Interior space: by far the biggest “feeling” car, certainly the most legroom and cabin space. Rear space is amazing.
+ Lots of glass and a very airy feeling to it.
    + Rides very well
+ Standard kit on the Elegance / DSG is very high
    – Interior is a bit plasticky in places
    – I had some problems with the satnav malfunctioning
    – I’m struggling – I was very impressed.

    520
+ Nicest place to sit as a driver.
    + Nicest interior
    – Rear leg room is a shocker.
    – If you have kids the doors are very high so they can’t see outside very easily
    – Ride is pretty bad. Lots of harshness and bump feedback.
    – Underwhelmed overall (I know it’s not a 535).

    E
    + Boot is massive.
    + I’m struggling
    – Really uninspiring to drive.
    – Auto likes to hunt for gears
    – Standard tyres had awful grip (carpark on leaves caused it all sorts of problems!)
    – Things like the rear parking sensors are really poorly designed (Lights weren’t visible with the seat height dropped)

The transmission tunnels on the 5 and the E are a PITA for carrying passengers as well.

    <heritage>ARC = Alumin(i)um Racing Cycle</heritage>
Calling a CF frame an ARC really is taking the proverbial.

That Intense is very nice. Reminds me of a Corratec (in a good way).

yeti have done carbon before, the C26

iirc frank waddleton or chris herting said ARC stood for Aluminium or Alloy racing Composite

    http://www.yeti-c26.net/history.html
    [/quote]

I know about the C26 – My FRO became a donor for a C-26 remake a few years ago that Herting made up using some leftover C26 tubesets which was a pretty fitting end to it. The C26 isn’t badged an ARC though.

In fairness they also did the TI ARC a few years ago so they’ve been down this road before. Not sure why an ARC would be composite as I’m sure it’s all Program tubing, and I’m sure that the “A” stood for “Aluminum..”.

My comment was more about heritage rape rather than any objection to what they make bikes out of in the past, today or in the future 🙂

It’s a hideous story of abuse and neglect but I don’t see what the NSPCC would have achieved in a scenario like this, regardless of any additional funding.

I read that page and thought it was a cheap shot at promoting their self interest as a charity, though having re-read the page I see it’s been started by an individual to raise funds for the NSPCC, rather than being set up by the NSPCC directly (my sceptic sense is now barely being triggered).

You need no skill or experience whatsoever. Generally full of families, with kids wandering about all over the place.

You might want to think about doing the loop around Carsington Water as an alternative, though that can also get stupidly busy.

For something a bit quieter do the high peak trail and start at Middleton Top to avoid the climb up from Cromford. There’s just one shortish climb to do from there. You can also go to the much improved Rising Sun at Middleton for something to eat, or the Royal Oak up at Hurdlow (Just after Parsley Hay). Both great pubs (the latter is better).

All the starts are within 7 miles or so of each other.

My kids can do it, but I just look and see the potential for me to break a wrist / my coccyx . That’s one of the few things I will give a wide berth to.

As above it’s like skateboarding (which I can do) but with a board that can go anywhere.

    Have a look at Rollersnakes.

Was in there earlier this week with my 11 yr old building his 1st proper board (8.1). All in about 120 (not top end at all). Otherwise good “completes” start about 50. Call them up if you want advice. They’re v helpful.

Just heard about Antonelli. Awful news.

Watching the GP with Marquez dishing his own corkscrew treatment on Rossi. Deja Vu. Stoner will be laughing out loud.
