There is no Over 40 check.

Not quite. DH sponsor the ”Health Checks” programme that covers 4 “vascular” diseases. Ask your GP about a over 40s health check and if you still get quizzical looks point them to the Choices article. You won’t get a probing though!

Exactly qwerty. But you don’t have to remove the cover though? Is there not just the small screw at the bottom (middle) of the cover as on the pic below ? Thats where to put the syringe that has no piston, just the chamber.

It’s the Wobble so it will rain (a lot) and you’ll get very cold though you’ll be too drunk to care.

“I put a scientific calculator one on also, useful at work.”

If you rotate the calculator on your Desire HD (the one the DHD ship with) it turns in to a scientific calc? :) If you’re on Orange though they probably removed it along with every other useful bit of software and replaced it with their junk.

Best apps so far on my DHD:

3g Watchdog – How much data you’ve used
Appbrain App market (like market but better)
Astro file manager – err a filemanager
Business Calendar beta – the best android calendar app with multi calendar management.
Dropbox – Easy way to share content with your phone or to any browser
Rail Planner live – Excellent if you use the train
    Soundhound
    Tunein radio
    WeFi Connect

They aren’t light, though I had mine down to 27.5 Lbs with a fairly top end build. I’d say they are an ideal all day bike though as they are very comfy to ride. The Curnutt air is pretty amazing and from a control point of view it’s as close to a hardtail as I’ve ridden on any FS bike. They are very stiff laterally and it just soaks up all the low speed stuff. You do forget the rear is working at times. Massively adjustable as well with a simple turn of a dial while you’re on the trail.

Silly money but if it’s burning a hole in your pocket I’d recommend one. Oh and the coke can is also a talking point if that’s your thing! I’d agree about the ideal peaks bike comment. If it were a couple of pounds lighter it would be better, but it is built like a tank.

They use UPS IIRC and you will pay it (invoice arrives in the post a week or so later). 4% import duty on components, plus handling fee from UPS, plus VAT.

Think of all those poor Campagnolo fans burning their groupsets and leather-bound tool kits at the word “campy” on that lever.

Took my car in for a service approx 15 months ago and had new disks and pads fitted. Booked the car for a service and MOT at the same main dealership a couple of weeks ago. As it’s over an hour away I left home to arrive at the garage to find the service manager saying “we’ve been trying to contact you all afternoon”

(I checked the mobile later and their first call was at 4.17 when I was already in the car on my way over)

    The conversation went something like:

D “Your brakes have failed on the MOT?”
    Me “That’s a suprise!”
D “They’re binding on at the front, and the pads need replacing”
Me “Really, those new disks and pads you fitted the last time you had the car about 14000 miles ago are now shot?”
D “We haven’t been able to contact you to authorise any more work so we’ve left them as they were…brakes are a consumeable”
Me “Well I’ve been on the phone a couple of times, but the MOT is up tomorrow ?”
D “Well I suppose you can keep the loan car till Monday, and we’ll get you a price (mechanic was a also stood there). Mech “…It will pobably need new calipers, but I can’t confirm that ‘tll we’ve had a proper inspection…maybe up to £800 or £900 for the job”.
    Me “forget it”.

Basically they just couldn’t be bothered with my predicament. It was approaching 5.30 and they wanted to get home. They’d left the job so late in the day they had nowhere to go but break some bad news.
I took it to a local garage the following day – a new set of pads later and a new MOT in hand. He said there was no evidence of any coppaslip on the back of the pads from when they’d been fitted, and they’d just bound in the caliper and worn away. The most irritating thing is that if they’d done the MOT first as ANY garage normally would they’d have spotted the problem and had time to work on it.

The garage in question was Lexus Stoke and the “service” (feel the irony) cost me approaching £500. I’d previously had good service from them but they will never see me again.

Oh, and I’m still waiting for my call from the dealer principal. I imagine he’s been trying to contact me all day as well.

You can get lights for SAD – which I have no experience of. These are just alarm clocks that wake you up a bit more gently – into “simulated daylight” rather than the pitch darkness.

    Crell

The Philips one I have isn’t really for SAD – it’s just for wake-up

It’s actually the second Philips one I’ve had. The original one had all the quality of a paper hat. The volume control broke and the sound quality was awful. It had a really “cheap” feel about it and the newer one is a lot better in all areas (particularly the sound) – though still has some design flaws, and they even do an Ipod version now.

I do think they work, I always feel better waking up when I’m using it and more rested. The only downside is that the light starts about 20 mins before the alarm so on occasion you can get an even earlier start.

You can often find them at 50% off – I got this one from Boots.

My DHD Should be arriving today.

Best deal for me was the one on UKhotdeals. I’ll stick a work sim in it mostly, so went for a 25/month on TMob (Orange) – 600 mins, Same txts IIRC and “unltd internet”. Phone was “free” on 24 months.

Then knock off the 50 quid Quidco credit I just got that’s £550 TCO.

9 year old who’s approx 145 cm tall is fine on a 14 Cube. They have a slightly shorter TT than a lot of the frames out there, and a noticeably shorter head tube.

Cut the bars down, fitted a 40 mm stem, adjusted the brake reach and saddle position. The only downside fit-wise is the crank length, but otherwise it’s a good fit and riding position. Air forks for kids all the way.

Big ring is a waste of time and never used, so I’ll put a bash on there sometime soon. A 1 x 11 alfine is probably the ideal young kid’s geared setup if you’re building something up.

Scott also do small frames (12″ or 13″ IIRC).

SW Forecast looks really good for tomorrow, plus some sunshine; but too big for me. I’m coming down the week after if I can sort my shoulder and back out. Sods law says no swell.

Wheel aside, why have you got your bars rotated all the way forward like that, or was that part of the “washout” as well?

I’m going to have a go at rebuilding this over winter:

    Martin,
Any chance of a copy of dig_surf_trip_strathy_1.JPG for a desktop wallpaper? It just makes me want to drive (for 6 hours) to get there.

My email is in my profile.

That makes 2 spongers then :)

There was a thread on here about it a while ago. I’ve been skiing there but the trails are marked and visible in winter. It did look more trail centre / DH orientated.

Have a google for “Bike Park” Are.

    Kimbers,
I’m a 38-40 chest and the medium is spot on, a “snug” fit. It could do with being a tiny bit longer in the back but for the money it’s a great bit of winter kit.

    Shorts aren’t lined – I’m a 32 waist and a medium just fits.

I bought all 3 last month from m&m, and for the money they’re great, particularly the shifter top.

Love my Foes XCT-5. The suspension is so tuneable with the turn of a dial and it climbs really well. It’s certainly not light, but nor does it flex in any way. Someone’s selling one on ebay for what’s currently looking like a bargain. Not sure what the “Ti upgrade” that’s referred to on an Air Curnutt but looks like a good deal on a rare bike. (no connection whatsoever).

Rotator cuff injury last weekend has kept me off the bike, but then to top it all pulled something in my back yesterday getting a bike out. I feel like a right old crock.

I loved space lego when I was a kid. As my kids got older I raided my dad’s loft and got all my old lego out for them. In amongst it all was my “LL928”, my pride and joy. Its since been “modified” in to a series of smaller “space ships” and piles of lego. It’s brill.

Best “do it all” brakes I’ve found are the Louise BATs (Carbons for bling if you need it). Excellent feel, and a cinch to set up and bleed. (Having had Elixirs, CRs, Martas, Hope Minis, Hayes to name but a few!)

My wife had one for 1 week. She liked it but the HDD died after a week so swapped it for a laptop.
