Tuner’s just called to say my ski’s are ready :) One week to go then I’m off. I can’t wait.

Jet 2 are 60 for ski carriage (50 if you book online, and free if you use the “Freeski” code).

Suggestions please-

I’d just book a flight to Geneva and then sort out the accommodation when you know where the snow is. Transfers are going to be 90 mins plus in a car though wherever you head to.

Just seen a good deal for 5th Feb to Sestriere from Doncaster and impulse booked it.

Nice, that’s the spirit! You could take the kids with you though? I have a week’s pass, back for a week then we’re all going. If they weren’t getting a trip I don’t think I’d be welcome in the house.

Anyone been on SportPursuit recently? Haglofs sale (I love Haglofs stuff even though I can’t afford it),

Never seen that site before but thanks for pointing out somewhere else to waste my money.

Nice one. I’d love to go and watch it. I just had an email from Silverstone about this year’s MotoGP. Not sure that I want to risk hypothermia again though.

I remember sitting on one of the chairs at Cervinia on the way up to Rosa and seeing a snow storm barrelling down the side of the Matterhorn and then coming straight towards us across the glacier. They stopped the lift, me and my mate turned away as best we could then got hit by this wall of wind and snow. Immediately the chair went out to what felt like degrees and it was howling. The thing was over in about a minute, blue skies and off we went again.

It is a cracking backdrop, plus you’ve got Zermatt to play in as well. I’m off to France in 3 weeks, then Sweden; I can’t wait

and then the 10% thing with the vouchers.

Rich what’s this extra 10 % voucher? I know about the NUS deal so this makes it too tempting.

I’ve been skiing for 5 weeks over 4 years in Sweden & Finland and STILL haven’t seen the northern lights. Maybe I’ll see them this year then, but good luck! Sounds like a cool trip.

The days will still be quite short in Feb. Why not go in March, it makes quite a difference?

Differences are shown here between Free, 4.99 and 10.99

For me it’s the streaming to my Sonos and mobile that make the 10 quid deal the one to go for. I’m sure they do free trials, plus you can stream to android as well (it’s not just for iphones).

I’d read that bob about some artists pulling out, but likewise i haven’t really noticed anything.

It’s defined by when you rode or dreamed of riding, or rather you’ll probably end up defining it that way. RB is full of these threads and there’s no definitive date. For me, its all the pre 95 stuff that floats my boat. Oh and an 89 Bontrager will run a 2.2 (not that I’d commit such heresy). It’s all about the cnc!

It”s a job, with a salary which for many teens and grads is a rare thing. I doubt they’ll struggle to fill it.

Unlikely at his time of year I”d have thought. Stanley Fearn”s in Matlock were the cheapest for a while so might be worth a try.

The best thing about spotify is the introduction of aps.

For a tenner a month it”s great. The lyrics app was very useful listening to “Sun” by caribou. It can be a bit slow getting less chart related music on there. If you listen to Zane Lowe a lot of the new stuff can take a while.

Cougar, I laughed at your post, and was then brought immediately back to earth when I realised we were born in the same week. :(

Pretty common policy. Write to your HR Director to share your concerns and become instantly popular.

I am more aggrieved about not being given a ‘proper’ reason

Define proper? Seems proper and reasonable to me.

Now the bonus is given entirely at the company’s discretion and it does state this in my contract

I guess your contribution so far has slipped under the radar of the Directors who are responsible for awarding it.

Not played any of the previous ones but on the pc it looks fantastic. Impressed with the story and how you can just do your own thing. The UI is pretty poor though!
Yep you can do a spell in one hand and a weapon in the other. Just tap the lock and you get an idea if its going to turn. Picks are everywhere though so not an issue.

2560*1440 on ” high ” setting on a hd 5870 looks fantastic and getting 35 – 60 fps. Will cross fire it when its fixed to see what its like on Ultra settings.

Only bad things – yetis and giants kick my butt every time. It could also steal your life!

Another Sonos user here. It’s one of the nicest bits of technology I’ve owned. My wife likes it, which in itself is a massive compliment as she hates technology.

With Spotify it’s brilliant, and no issues with a QNAP NAS or Media Server. Having playlist integration across a range of devices, in or out of the home is a real plus for me.

Their online support is excellent as well.

If you’re thinking about zermatt you can go to Cervinia when zermatt melts so you should be ok. From mid march id only go to a glacier resort or head north. Skied in Are 2 years ago in mid April and it was just getting slushy in the afternoon.

Agreed n the pic Bell. That’s the one from one of the “tribute” vids id mentioned before. It’s a brilliant piece of photography. If you track down who has the rights let me know as id like to get a big print sorted.

The suggestion for “casino” was his dads. I’d also like to see them leave pole free as well for the start, moving everyone down a slot (or two if they moan about a dirty side. Id also like to see his proper 58 bike on the pole slot prior to warm up, his team symbolicaly prepping his bike etc. I don’t want much do I.

Marquez is also out barring a miracle so just the 125 title left “open” (as in Terol having to fail to finish). The season ended 2 races ago.

I do think it’s strange how you can become “attached” emotionally to someone you’ve never met. My wife and kids would attest to my borderline religious fervour for MotoGP (and M2 / 250 and 125), but I didn’t expect to feel the “loss”. I didn’t feel like this over Kato or Tomizawa for example.

I put “loss” and “attachment” in quotes as they don’t feel appropriate to me for a situation where you’ve never even met the person, but they feel very real for me in this case. I can’t explain it.

Bellerophon I really like that second vid :). Especially as it has the warts (well some of them) and all, including the comedy spats with Lorenzo and some of his tussles with Dovi this year.

What wrangles me at the moment is that I spent approx 2 hours at Silverstone trying to find some Simoncelli merchandise and failed. At that point my son was about to give up on me so I had to draw the line. The fact is was pouring down, windy and about 7 degrees didn’t help. It’s gnawing away at me though now however, as though that would be something to latch on to and wear at future races to keep the spirit alive so to speak. Very weird I know.

My current desktop from motogp.com, I think it’s perfect.

On that killswitch video the still at 1:28 is beautiful – I’ve never seen that one before. The one at 1:32 was my desktop wallpaper until recently.

It does grump. I could never understand the Princes Di grief but it makes a lot more sense now considering how I’ve been feeling about this. That however is a pretty lame “tribute” from Dorna.

A montage maybe, but tribute no.

No VT edits here, but a much more thoughtful piece from Toby Moody.

KISH are lovely frames, and if you’re thinking of one of those I’d also be looking at Eriksen and Potts which are only slightly more expensive.

^^ To insulate you need something that lofts in your loft (IGMC)

Continuing the hijack theme, we have quite shallow joists – approx 150mm if memory serves me correctly. Part of the loft is boarded, so should I lay over the top of the boards, or do I have to take them up and get rid of the boards (or put in a suspended floor)?

I am a massive SuperSic fan. He was the best thing to happen to MotoGP in recent years, bringing some colour, flair and proper elbows-out racing to the class. I only heard when the BBC race coverage came on (and wondering why SKY+ had only the 125s and Moto2 races).

He was a future world champion in the making and a massive talent. GP racing will not be the same without him. Motorcycle racing has lost a massive character in all senses.

I haven’t seen the crash video; I don’t want to, but the Daily Mail website (which is at the top of a google search for Sic) disgusts me. The video is up there, but more graphically the stills capture from the video that leave nothing to the imagination.

I went to the motor home show at Birmingham last weekend and had a look round the conversions from these folks.

Home

I spent ages talking to a guy called Nigel who does the actual work on their vans who just so happened to be a mad-keen mountain biker though I’ve got no idea if he’s on here or not.

They do a range of vans, but they’ll do whatever you want, and he’d done a lot of stuff to his own van to make it “bike friendly”.

They’re a Reimo partner and seem to have a good reputation from what I’ve read, though I’ve not used them.

Things I’ve decided as a result of my chat with him and having a good look over their and other convertors vans there were:

I want the heater & leisure battery
I’m not bothered about cooking facilities in there (though some of the Reimo units are incredibly compact (though pricey!)
A pop-top will make a lot of difference to how we use the van – it just felt so much better to be able to stand up inside.
A roof bed in the pop top will let me store the bikes in the van overnight if I need to ( and we’re not using the bed on the rear seats).

Can’t see why you’d box off the rear, you’re just limiting the flexibility of the van.

To keep the van flexible, I’d only install the rear seats on runners (Caravelle / Reimo etc) so again you can change the config easily. The downside is they’re expensive again.

At the moment I’m stuck between getting a Caravelle I like and converting to a Reimo poptop later or I’m thinking about one of the new California “beach” models.

These are basically a pop top Caravelle SE. They aren’t cheap, but if you can live without the internal furniture and just want flexible seating and sleeping they seem like a good option. Downside is they have just launched and on a 16 week delivery.
