From the Mothers original post, it seems the idiots, were playing a game of swerve. Where they deliberately swerve into and out of the path of moving cars. hence the drivers apparent lack of reaction.
The Mother has also said she will pay for all damages to the car.
Also my parents only had an inkling of how stupid i was. Peer pressure and group mentality have a lot to answer for.
However when we were stupid we tried to keep it to ourselves and not endanger others!

Great helmet. Basically a Met Para without the chin. Wears a lot lighter than weighs, if that makes sense.

Take note of the 14 days AFTER the last symptom. Not from injury. this is the mistake to many make. My Rugby playing was effectively ended by a severe concussion 2 years ago. total loss of memory of the morning before the game, throwing up on the side of the pitch and felt ill/dizzy and groggy for 2 months after. Basically its swelling on the brain that inhibits the blood flow to area affected. so it takes longer to heal. think of it this way, if you bruise your leg, how long does that take to go away? At least a couple of weeks, usually longer. The brain is quite a bit softer.
If you find yourself getting really tired late in the afternoon that too is a symptom and can come back a week or so after you think you are ok.
Take it easy and heal well.

Only thing i noticed was the original rrp was £775, but this was the initial review pricing. Even so at £650 with shoes and pedals, its exactly what i wasn’t looking for. I will give the tyres a few rides before sneaking some new rubber into the house 😉

Most crashes i’ve seen or heard about have been on the berms. Riders over shooting the ends or the lips.
Shame as it was good little spot to session.
Trouble really is a lot of people watch others going down it and making it look quite easy, then they try and all goes wrong.

Have a look at the bluegrass golden eye. Has a removable camera mount section on the top. It’s the same as the met parachute without the chin guard. Best helmet I’ve had.

As Andy says the diff between the c and s max is massive. I have a c-max and it is a great handling car. We do wish we had gone for the s max though. However all the back seats are easily removable to make good room. Not tried the bike rack though. We are looking at an s max soon. We had a Mondeo before that as well. If money and space allows I’d go for the s-max.

What sort of wood floor? Engineered click in or independent plank? If it self joining just use the mats 8-10mm . If the planks are independent you may need to use an adhesive to stop them moving about. Remember to leave a minimum 10mm gap at wall floor junctions to allow the floor to move. Yes the insulation roll is a complete pita.

First time i went, used flats and glad of it after a couple of washouts. A lot of the regulars/members use spd’s. New trail i’d always use flats. However that’s what i ride on mostly. If your used to spd’s use them and have a scout around. you can always change them at the car park as your only ever 10min ride back. Talk to the locals they usually love showing people around. If in doubt look on the FB page. enjoy

I also get this rubbish off contractors at work when they see my bike in the corner.
If he spouts off in front of you, ask him to quantify his hatred of cyclists.
    Point by point.
Usually they are just acting hard, gobbing off or were bullied at school.
i also remind them that they’ll never work on one of my sites again if i hear that rubbish again.
    Usually quite sheepish after that.

Moaning. I moan about everything. oh and finding excuses to why i am moaning. also getting angry about the lack of excuses to why i’m rubbish at certain things.
I do like a climb though and i would generally say thats what i’m best at.

I do like the freedom of not wearing a helmet. However, after quite a bad concussion last September (rugby) and not wearing my head guard, i realised my head is getting softer. After 20 yrs of getting knocks to the head its a bit squishy.it took me about 2 months before i felt normal. i do take them off if its a long climb though.
i also wear a hardhat every day so they dont bother me really. But like what was mentioned above some peoples heads just dont fit in helmets.

There are some great sections on there. Its well worth a visit. Good for sessioning bits as theres not a great deal of climbing. But, as mentioned some of the black features are actual black and worth checking out before riding. im still struggling with my shoulder after hitting the deck on the bottom of triple trouble A line. If in doubt speak to one of the locals/club riders. They will gladly show people around or give adice on lines to take, as often the eaiest looking lines arent. Also the hardpack is still bedding in so is very loose atm.
Its about a 4km loop but you have the choice of minimum 2 lines.

Mate, everyone raves about them. I’ve followed/stalked Ben around swinley a few times and the customer service is apparently top draw. If I could afford a new bike now that’s up there. They also look great IMO. Phone them up to run through it then buy one. And then let me have a go next time I’m up. Think if I demo’d one at swinley it could be divorce 🙂

Just had a similar experience. Off bike with various issues. Cut down my commuting distance as well. Back on bike to normal and both knees started giving me hassle. I found going to a higher gear than would normally use for a couple of days helped just get the leg muscles back into shape with less stress on the joints. Even if you feel like your spinning unnecessarily, it will help. It’s odd but a few weeks off can affect a lot of things around the joints. You may indeed have slightly shift the saddle a touch.

Makkag, I’ve been meaning to ask on here if anyone one knew who built whippy! I’m in leavesden and that’s my local spot.(some really nice stuff in there, taken me a while to find most of it!) I’m not about this weekend as going to swinley with my bro. But well up for someone to get some regular local riding in. Pm me with details for any local rides. Tizzzle, depending on strength of hangover I’ll be up for Friday ride.

Hmm I’m gonna be looking for maybe two bikes soon. A 14 and a 20 possibly. As I made a fatal mistake off letting my little girl choose her own bike and I’m a softy! It’s weighs more than my FS! So going to get 2 Islabikes next like I said I would in the first place! If any of you want to pm me with spec and location I might be up for a sale before chrimbo

Having looked on the facebook page, there is an interesting discussion just before the Mtb community got hold of this. Basically saying that this is all happening due to the 4×4 lobby getting the DCC to reinstate the Paths and tracks to the use they were intened for back in the 1800’s. Also that edale PC are as upset about it as all the locals.

Archi enduro owner here. Was perfect in the alps but mostly pointing down and it was pretty cold and wet. It’s still a FF really so still gets hot but really good breathing, with the more open front. I have smacked head into the dirt wearing it a few times and have been grateful I wasn’t wearing my trail lid. I still think they could do more with the internal padding to make them more heat friendly. If I had to grab one helmet it would be this one.

Just a little update on the longleats CP. While i was there i know of one bike theft and another attempted. security and the police were running operations to try and stamp this out. the security i spoke to said they were taking this very serious as it is affecting thir rep as a safe site. There were gangs working in 3’s one female spotter 2 knicking the bikes. they were also stopping anyone on higher end bikes and checking details. These thefts seem to be on change over days when people are either just getting there (exicted unsure of layout) or leaving (stressed with packing the kids! one last swim).
They do seem to be taking it very serious and was advised to double lock my bike even in the boiler room.
Oh and the trails outside are pretty top notch, just got to work a bit to string a run together!

Yeah had planned on a ‘me’ day riding outside the centre and was going to look at the local stuff. i might hire one there for pootling around with the kids and leave mine inside until i need it. don’t really want the worry of my bike when i’m supposed to be enjoying family time. the wife can’t understand how they get in to knick stuff in a supposedly secure compound.

Gonzy- Yeah, i had a real head scratch with the rear on the 183 rotor on a 180 adaptor. had to angle the washers to fit. as i had the cup and cone washer off my avids it made it easier. I did find the modulation a hard thing to get used to after my on/off slr avids.

Gonzy- i’m using the hope 203 floating with Zee on the front. have to get the set up spot on with the floating rotors so the knuckle doesn’t catch. So without the floating bit, should be fine. the rear is a different story!

Also, I’ve seen Jedi give honest opinion on stuff he’s been given on his blog. He also usually says if he’s been given it or not. He’s usually very polite about faults though.
