the surveying ones tend to be a lot smaller and more like a stud IME, I’d say those are boundary markers for things like external seating area for a café, seasonal stands(e.g. xmas stalls), temporary stands etc

Assuming newer pikes, £35 for 160mm air spring, easy enough job to do yourself (again, assuming your not a monkey with the spanners)

I ordered a set of pikes from there, excellent price but piss poor service. They took a week to send me an email saying they needed a copy of my driving license, photo copy of my bank card. Bit odd but did as they asked then took another 3 days for them to confirm they’d received all this info. I asked them when i could expect my item… No response so i cancelled and ordered from bike components who price matched and 2 days later i had the forks. Bike components have u rivalled customer service ime and i wished more retailers took a leaf out of their book

Im assuming its the circlip in part 1 and did the same in a rush to get the mech off. Just popped it back on, using a flat screwdriver to push it in place

Edit. In that case ignore me

Last time I ordered from Crc using next day delivery it took over a week to arrive. Quick email to crc and I had the delivery cost refunded and s £20 voucher from crc that I negotiated up to £30 so well worth an email / call to crc

Quite a few reviews on those Shimanos say they fall apart pretty quick though

Mine have lasted more than twice as long as both my previous 5-10’s. They’re not as grippy as 5-10’s but grippy enough and at less than half the price are better overall imo

Not saying it won’t work but if you’re relying on the rubber ring to seal then you’ve done it wrong. Never used them on mine but I use gorilla tape which seals better than stans tape IME.

Hacksaw, newish blade. I don’t bother with a guide- if you get it that wrong with a steerer diameter of only up to 1.5″ then it’s best you stepped away from the hacksaw 🙂

Oh and I’ve had HD’s worked fine on 17mm rims without issue, although now my rims are a lot wider

I’ve used full stans kit in the past but all mine are semi ghetto now.

I just remove existing rim strip and use gorilla tape to build it up. You want it nice and tight when the tyre goes on. Proper tyer lever helps. My rims arent tubeless but I’ve not bothered with rim strips / half a tube although you may need them. I use proper tubeless valves (but cutting sone from old tubes will work), valves need to have removable cores. Add sealant (I use the stans syringe as its means when you top up the tyre stays seated). Use track pump to inflate or ghetto inflator for stubborn ones. Shake about a bit (the wheel) or ride and keep an eye on pressure over first few days. I’ve never bothered with the soapy water.

I carry a spare tube for longer rides but since going tubeless (3 yes or so) I’ve only needed it once and that was only because the tyre cut in 2 places so no chance for the holes to seal before losing air

What deadly said. No need to drain rice out if you add the right amount of water. 400ml for 200g of rice is about right, lid on pan, heat from cold on lowish heat

I want to like them but they don’t have the CNC’d sexiness I was hoping for, and I’m not that keen on the graphics. Might be different in the flesh though.

you could of returned to the retailer for a refund / exchange. You cut out the middle man whose responsibility it was unfortunately

I run far lower pressures than recommended by rockshox, 2 tokens, not much low speed compression damping (0-2 clicks)

Rebound about half way, cant really remember.

Really smooth all of the time with the 2 tokens taking care of big hits. For reference mine are 160mm 26″

Dunno if it’s of any interest, and apologies for the blatant plug, but I have a pair of insulated animal snowboard / ski trousers for sale, never worn with tags still on. Think they’re medium and around 32 waist. Plain black. Email in profile if interested.

My advice on clothing would be to later up where you can as I found I was getting too hot most of the time and this was in early feb. I just used a normal outdoorsy jacket over a fleece and t shirt
