what was the reason you needed 3m? must of been something in the ground that would make them insist on that? did you get a structural engineers opinion?

3 metre deep foundations? do u live in a tower block?

Building Control officers have their own views and opinions, and in my experience have a poor understanding of the regs. I’ve often corrected them on several occasions.

I would take a guess that indians eat super hot curries to mask the flavour of rotting meat. Chillies also will slow down bacteria and therefore make the meat last longer.

apart from a couple of bikes I would say this thread has turned into the ugliest DH bikes, and having re-looked, ‘couple’ being generous.

oh ok I take it back you do have a point, as a mountain biker I hadnt considered road bikes.

That 5 spot looks worse than any five ive seen, and theres penty of uglier modern bikes out there. I see the Fives as the rugby players of the bike world, a bit rough around the edges but tough, practical and fun, where some other bikes are more like footballers, a bit poncy and weak.
Granted some Five colours are a bit garish but thats up to individual tastes and a level of customization you wont get from most bike manufacturers. Love it or hate it, the Five is an awesome bike, but then I also ride a Five

Are you looking for a mountain bike specific holiday? If so ‘Trail Addiction’ look good, and have had good reviews in the past. Havent used them myself yet, but I’m thinking of using them for next years trip to the Alps. Looks like they cater for all levels, and IMO good value for money too.

Mrs toast’s picture says it all. The seat post is so ridiculously long the saddle wont fit in the picture! How tall is it? Or is it one of these:

I have a five pro with 140’s and there plenty. personally id spend the money on CCDB rather than upgrading forks and performance pack.

I dont have any experience of working somewhere with a local tax so the double taxation thing is not something I know about.
Other than that my understanding is:

You cannot be tax free if you spend more than 180 days in the UK in any financial year. Thats the first hurdle.
Then you need to be out of the country for a full financial year with a maximum number of days spent in the UK of 90 days per year over an average of four years (from that point onwards).
That last statement may seem to contradict with the first one of 180 days, and many people get confused by it and it is hard to explain.

    For example:
I left the UK in September 2010, with approx days up to that date of 150 spent in the UK. Something called a ‘split year’ is then applied to my sutuation as I can still spend more than 30 days in the UK before end of the financial year, as long as it dosent exceed the 90 days per year over an average of 4 years. So for me to stay tax free I cannot exceed the limit of 90 days per year and must do that until April 2012. If I return before April 2012 I will have a heartbreaking tax bill for all my earnings so far. If I stay within those limits until after April 2012 I can come back to UK and not have to pay any taxes and continue working normally. Also, may not apply to your situation but for teh first 12 months after leaving the Uk you have to continue paying NI. After that its voluntary.
Hope that helps. I can send you a HRMC document with full details if you email me.

I have a few different quotes in front of me for different systems. Most of them is mainly a ground source heat pump system supplemented by a solar panel so those quotes wont be relevant to you. Another quote though is for a solar panel to heat domestic hot water with new cylinder for a new dwelling but may be a guide:

    System Design:
The Nu-Heat design and sizing process uses its own unique calculations package to specify the ideal configuration of cylinder, solar collectors and ancillary components for your project. Our specification process has been developed in conjunction with European solar design
software, TSol, as well as the government’s SAP building regulations assessment criteria.

    Performance and energy savings:
The figures below provide an indication of the potential energy savings achievable based on your approximate daily hot water demand. The solar fraction figure is the proportion of domestic hot water that can potentially be heated by solar panels alone. It is a yearly
average so in summer months, the proportion will be significantly higher. The ‘yearly free
energy harvested’ figure is based on SAP appendix H and may be required for any RHI funding (subject to confirmation of the scheme).

Hot water demand:185 litres daily, based on an occupancy of 4 people*

Solar input:1517.63 kilowatt hours of free solar energy harvested yearly**

Solar proportion:58% of hot water supplied yearly by solar***

    Solar Quotation
Flat panel solar heating system docked with heat pump and un-vented solar cylinder
    – Assumed roof direction for panel installation is East/West.
    – There is None or very little overshading in front of the panels.
    – A 30° roof pitch has been assumed for calculation purposes.

The total quote is appprox £2,500 + VAT

oh and missd the extras… around £600+ VAT in pipework. Dont think it includes installation but havent looked at them too closely yet

no but im working on a design for a client invlving a solar heating system in conjunction with a ground source heat pump. could’t comment on their ‘value’, probably is worth it in the long term but depends what your expectations are. i.e. Cost driven only or doing your bit for the environment? And it will prob depend waht system you go for, and if you have consider other ways of reducing energy usage?

warranty replacement for some air bubbles in the finish. hardly a reason to sell a replacement dream build frame. anyway just wanted a reason why it was for sale but will settle for some vague answers in fear of banging on too much.

    creamegg

yes im sure there are load of feasible and valid reasons. just curious thats all cos if i’d bought a ‘dream bike’ id sure take it out for a blast before considering selling it

apparentyly they are more cleverer and will steal red squirrels nut stashes so the poor little ginger ones wont have any food left. im sure theres other reasons too but i remember that from tv the other day

    creamegg

i dont care about the price just curious as to why someone would go to the effort of buying a brand new bike and not ride it then sell it for a potential loss. If i was interested in buying it thats the sort of info i’d want. makes me feel theres something suspicious about it

    creamegg
    Free Member

you still dont say why your selling it. none of my business i admit but if i was buying a ‘brand new second hand bike’ i’d want to know why its being sold for a £2k loss. You’r not an engineer are you?

Ok is ‘appers’ to have gone but I’m not fully convinced yet. This is what I did:

Virus appeared with usual pop-ups etc
Did a scan through McAfee. Nothing detected.
Did a quick scan with Malwarebytes. Something called SkypeSetup was detected and quarantined.
    Re-booted, virus was still there.
Did as described above, nothing else detected.
Then realised I had not deleted the ‘Skypesetup’ from Malwarebytes quarantine so I did that and re-booted.
    Has not appeared since.
    (Yet)

I thought that if Malwarebytes would have detected it and quarantined it that would have been it? Or would it still be active until I hit the delete button?

Hopefully it has gone. Cheers for everyone who helped.

how come ur selling a brand new frame and virtually new components for a loss of £2k? have u ever ridden it?

Edit: assuming that it cost £6k in first place

Typical… McAfee is picking up downloading those links and removes them but cant pick up a genuine virus! Is it safe to disable McAfee to run RKill / iexplore?

    creamegg

just done a quick scan after updating and nothing detected. will run full scan now, which will take 3+hours. Will have a look at those links first tho. What difference does it make if I run Malwarebytes in Safe Mode or normal? (as I dont want to restart computer if I can help it)
