I think it does record the amount of credit you have but anything is better than nothing. Build it up slowly.

I have several red marks against me for late payment back in 2009 and my rating is already a lot better due to keeping everything up to date and my bank kindly sent me an £8k credit card last week, not that im intending to use it on anything other than to build up my credit rating

Register on electoral roll. you can prob download form of your local council website (my mrs did it for me) and pop in post. takes 2 mins to fill in.

Next thing try n get a small overdraft with your current bank account or last resort get a credit card as the guy above says but use it wisely to build up your score. Im not sure if you even need to use it as i have green marks over my account which ive never touched the OD. If your not successful dont keep trying for one as this will go against you. If you fail try again in 6 months time.

Then its a waiting game. Make sure your up to date from now on and try and save for a deposit

Equifax shows the number of searches (what they do when you apply for credit), and I think they recommended this to be a maximum of 3 in every 6 month period so yod be better off leaving it a while before applying for credit. Not sure if they do this just to open a bank account tho?

6 or 7 late payment will go against you quite badly but I think only stays on your history for 6 years after the debt was settled. 6 years is a long time you will get it cleared eventually if you keep up to date with future payments.

Once your credit rating gets better, try n get a small overdraft but dont use it as such. Just it being there will improve your score

sign up to equifax for the free 30 day trail (you can cancel before first payment is made). Once you signed up you have access to some info but have to pay approx £5-£6 to see your credit rating. Well worth doing IMO, I did it last week and they show you your credit score and areas you can improve. My score was a lot better than I anticpated, Im nearly in the ‘excellent’ bracket but would have guessed I was in ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’ before checking (due to bad debts years ago when i was a student), so it was a nice suprise. I put off checking for years in fear for the worst.

I can improve my score by registering on the electoral role, which ive now done.

you sound a bit jealous and bitter gary! Im not a fan of her’s but she played the papers at their own game and won. Depends on how you class failing. She’s not done so bad at being crap has she? Would you say you’ve been more successful at what you do?

oh are we still guessing? ill say £222.66 ish.

edit. damn you beaten me to it!

Im suprised you have trouble, mine go on quite easily (although very first attempt took a few goes). You just need to squeeze the pedal down onto the axle and push the pootle clip in enough just so that it bites, then do the rest with a screw driver (with pedal flat on worktop).

i just position it by hand then use a flat end screw driver just to squeeze it in. quite easy once you get the hang of it. no need for vice or clamps

If I was you i’d stop for a couple of laps of FoD or Cwmcarn on the way.

I’d probably do W2 at Afan although Skyline final descent is also good

I thought Skyline was due to close for good due to wind turbine development? Has that been screpped now or did i get it wrong?

takes me 5 mis to hose mine down after a ride (either with mobile washer or bike wash if at a centre). Looks like new in no time, and it has to be clean as its kept in my girlfriends lounge. get over it

I suspect the damp proof course would be below the course with weep holes, although ideally it should be min 150mm above ground level.
    Nice bike btw

Not sure about availability but google some log cabins in brithdir, located about 10 mins from cyb. The one we stayed in had a log burner, sauna and an outside hot tub. Think it was called milk wood, but there was a choice of 2 or 3 different cabins

Which Fox shock are you looking to get? I have a nearly new Fox RP23 (not Kashima tho) in my spares box doing nothing since i swapped it for a CCDB (also an Orange Five). Let me know if interested.

just let them play about outside on the bike. My niece whos now 6 hasn’t had any ‘training’ from her dad but can already wheelie, ride with no hands- including turning with no hands, jump over tyres and much more that scares her mum to death. They just pick things naturally from other kids and from messing around.

was in cwmcarn earlier today (an hour east of afan) and it was warm/mild, trails were slightly muddy in places but generally quite dry for this time of year. No ice or snow.

Have had slx on mine for the last 18 months, and even though it does clog up quite a bit with crap in that area im suprised how little effect it has. I do give the bike a quick wash after every ride tho but mainly to keep the car clean.

If you want seriously warm winter gloves that won’t mess you about, Fox Antifreeze are worth checking out.

I bought a pair of fox anti freeze gloves last week and had the same issue with the liner. Although kept my hands warm and snug, overall im not that impressed with the Fox Antifreeze. The stitching came undone at the base of the finger leaving a gaping hole which appeared on 2nd day of riding. Later that day I had a minor fall which ended up in the liner and outer glove tearing on the palm of the hand. LBS said to return them tho as Fox will prob exchange! My Fox Digit glove on the other hand are superb and are still nearky like new despite 2 years of use and crashing but theyre not waterproof and dont keep out the cold.
