So how much do magazines pay to have test bikes then, or do they get paid to test them ,or would that be unethical,eh.

Im guessing it would normally be the manufacturer providing the bikes for magazines not hire centres. It’s completelly different. The manufacturers provide new kit to magazines so they can get good reviews and free publicity. Do you expect the manufacture to give you a bike to pootle around for free?

If you think they’re making a fortune why dont you set up your own hire centre?

It’s probably my aspergic side coming to the fore, but how can you buy a bike with “orange” written on the side in any other colour? Just wrong!

thats why my choice of pedals, stem, bars and seat clamp had to be orange!

I’m trying to imagine the smash that’d result in your right lever going through the back of your left palm

Correct me if im wrong but that could be either left or right lever as Hope do the flip flop design. Still, must have been hell of a crash!

Oral B (cant remember which model), you feel the difference compared to manual brushing and it makes sure you brush for full 2 mins!

I suspect the reverb hose is left long as Orange don’t know how much seat post youll have showing and possibly because you may change the bar to a wider one. Easy enough job to shorten though. nice bike, now get some mud on it its way to clean

took my 12 yr old nephew out to Brechfa (green and blue) for his first outing a few weeks ago. He was loving it and getting some air off everything he could! He cant wait to do the red now.

I try and take the minimum and sometimes take nothing (depending on where I ride), if I do take something it will contain:

    Multitool
    Spare tube
    Patches
    Pump
    Tyre lever
    Snickers bar
    Water (in bladder)

On long rides I may have additional snacks and in winter an extra layer

    @twotonpredator.

ok, as a comparison my Five is a shade under 34lbs but is built quite burly with CCDB, Hope V2’s 203 front and back, Reverb, fox 140 forks, straitline pedals and gamut aluminium chain device

you need to ride both and decide which is best for you! thats the only way. you may decide you dont like either and get something completely different

Possibly at some point. You should be able to cut length of hose and re-attach remote without needing to bleed so you should be good to go for a while. Im assuming your buying the 2011 as the 2012 comes with a bleed kit.

I’m showing amazing and supportive loyalty to my LBS (and I ride/drink ale with him).

will he be giving you and ‘amazing’ discount then? I’d expect around 15% off anyway but seeing as your mates you’d get a lot more would’t you which could have an effect on things? Ok you’d have even more money left over for bits if you went for the mega but with a decent discount you’ll have enough money for a maxle and possibly CCDB (if you wanted one) for the Five. Don’t forget though that if you want a custom frame colour for the Five it could cost up to £100!

I can’t comment on the mega as ive never ridden one but i love my five, although for the same price I do like the look of those transition Coverts!
