It does, you just don’t have any. Man up and stop looking for the easy way out

They get stored with post up or down, probably down most of the time as I lower it as it easier to get in/out of car. Hasn’t been a problem IME

I read somewhere that storing them in the down position is what kills them

Based on the fact that I store my bikes upside down 95% of the time I’d say this is nonsense as I haven’t had any issues with any of my reverbs in the 4 years of using them

4 years plus on mine, 2-4 rides every week throughout the year. Squirt of fork juice before each ride is the only maintenance it’s ever had. Starting to feel rough now but still works fine

It’s one of the easiest jobs on a bike. This is my method:

    1. Set low limit screw (smallest sprocket) with cable unclamped
    2. Adjust barrel adjuster so its screwed all the way in then unscrew one full rotation. Make sure shifter is set to the smallest sprocket. Pull cable taught (don’t over pull)and clamp
    3. Set high limit screw
    4. Adjust B tension screw
    5. Adjust barrel adjuster if required (normally isn’t IME)
    6. Ride

If that takes more than a few minutes then youre doing it wrong.

The ghetto coke bottle worked a treat for me for over 2 years, but being bashed around in the boot took it’s toll and the joints ended up leaking and was difficult to get it up to the required pressure. LBS offered a good price on the Airshot and as I like proper tools for the job I bought one and it’s been absolutelly faultless. If I’d have found an old fire extinguisher before buying the Airchot I’d have converted one of those… but I wanted a stainless steel one because I’m a tart

Llandegla is only 50 mins in the car. Tonnes of fun!

Rode there yesterday. Found it very disappointing. Won’t be in a hurry to go back again

If you want a speedy reply from a manufacturer contact Xtratherm with your proposed roof construction and ask them to specify the minimum insulation thickness for your target u value. Kingspan website is good for literature with pretty pictures though, and there are tables in there showing how much insulation you’ll need to achieve a certain u value. You can use insulation from any manufacturer as long as the thermal properties are the same, or similar, which most are unless you go for the more expensive stuff (which you’d only do if you had restricted space to build up the required thickness).

There’s a few ways to go about it but I’d probably have most of the insulation on top with insulated plasterboard inside, but it may depend on which roof cladding system you go for.

It’s an easy job, and if you’re interested I’ve got a nearly new (removed after 1 ride) 160mm shaft for 26″

From stadium head into bute park and follow bike path at side or river and head north / upstream. You’ll eventually head up into castell coch woods where there are enough trails for at least an evening. Finding them shouldn’t be too hard as the woods are pretty small. There’s stuff on both sides of the valley. Send me an email and I’ll try and get more info over to you.

There’s more stuff again, but friends how long a ride you want.

Edit: I think you should be ok on a cyclocross, but mtb may be better

Do you know who the manufacturer of the system is? Some are better than others. The Solix system is pretty robust and can take a battering before being damaged

Went a few weeks ago when there were reported issues but arrived early so got on an earlier crossing. Same on return journey. It was to Calais not Dunkirk though

nor is it hard to grasp that we have all looked fwd to a ride and been disappointed by it and think it was not worth the effort/other options were better.

    agreed

Lots on here seem to have missed the point entirely. You can still enjoy a trail whilst also thinking it did not live up to the hype. Not that hard a concept to grasp

Sometimes I wonder how some people get through life with such a low level of common sense :D As mentioned above, once you remove the (inflator) hose from the valve, put your finger over the valve and quickly screw the core in. This method has worked for me every time.

As for the Long Mynd, judging by the photos I see these days, people are just doing it all wrong. All I see is ENDURO WARRIORS riding $10,000 plastic ‘destroyer of worlds’ type bikes. Of course riding along **** sheep trails is going to be a bit boring! Do it properly (and a lot cheaper) and buy some old Kona with a 60mm travel fork and then the trails will come alive!

I rode it on an 80mm lightweight xc ht and was still underwhelmed. Nice scenery and a nice day out but the riding itself was dissapoinying. Sorry if you’re offended that some people don’t like the same trails as you. And I’m not even saying I didn’t like them, just that they didn’t live up to the hype… Far from it! Won’t be in a rush to go back

Another vote for Long Mynd. It’s okay, nice scenery etc but the riding is average imo and way over hyped.

I’ve got an older 2011 model Five and if I was in the market for a new bike (current one refuses to die) I’d get one in a heartbeat. Great bikes for the type of riding I do, and very versatile (similar to many modern bikes I guess).

I’m liking the magic mary (Vertstar SG) front and HD (trailstar SG) rear. I’ll be running MM front and rear in winter (Trailstar compound rear). Covers most situations in my experience

It clamps onto the brake lever so the relationship between shifter and brake is fixed. My brakes are Hope Tech 3 so the relationship may be different to where the XT puts them

My rear rim has several dents far worse than that and still sets up easily enough tubeless

Is the airshot any better (functionality wise) than a coke bottle compressor?

I understand that it’s nicer to use as it’s not a coke bottle and has a proper valve, just wondering if there are any other advantages.

It’s painted a nice shade of blue! If you’re after cheap you cant beat the coke bottle or fire extinguisher. I’ve used the coke bottle for years and it nearly worked first time every time but leaked when pumped up to anything over 60psi which is needed for thick stubborn DH tyres on some rims. Jubilee clips would likely have sorted that though.

Another vote for the airshot. Always found tubeless relatively easy anyway but even folded DH tyres go up first go now. Well worth the £45 I paid.

I’m hoping it won’t affect the surrounding woods with natural / local trails, which are far better than the twrch ever was. Not looking good though

Could not get it to work underside on left with Shimano shifters and Hope brakes. Have them on top on right side despite now 1*10- just prefer the lever on the right hand but it is what you’re just used to. I’ve had them break in a crash on top and below (got the lever below on my HT) so doesn’t really matter too much where you have them. If it’s on top make sure you angle it so if/when bike is upside down the lever doesn’t stick up- you want it parallel with the ground

I run the whole lot into the ground and change everything together which is usually around once a year on average. My mates on the other hand changes their chain every other month but still change cassette and chainring as often as I do if not more often, especially if they’ve left it late and the new chain skips.

I run everything way beyond the chain wear tool but it never skips a beat regardless of amount of wear. I know it’s time to change when the chain starts snapping. I’ve tried other ways but in my experience it’s extra faff and false economy.
