I bought the MKII non-BC by mistake (damn those german websites). Wasn’t worth sending them back and to be fair they’ve been good. Not as good as my RQ BC but good enough

how dare anyone have a bit of fun on a mountain bike. Popping off the tinyest bit of lip is what we did as kids, and still do now because its fun. Bigger ones are obviously better. I don’t skid round corners though, well not intentionally

just use whatever you normally use at any other trail centre.
I wouldn’t bother with pads, but then I don’t use pads for anything. SPD’s or flats will be fine.

I was dissapointed the Gap descent didn’t feature (unless it was in the long route?). It was my first Beast event and I’m not sure if I’d consider another as there was too much road. Still had fun though

I adjust my tech’s a fair bit- bite point and lever position so I’d miss that if I couldn’t do it. Not familiar with the race levers so not sure if they have any adjustment or not?

Id do llandegla, although havent been there. Ridden fod loads but not really worth a 2hr journey unless you were also going to mess about on the downhill sections or happy to explore off piste. The blue is good fun, but short. Dont think much of the red

I think the earlier ones had teething probems but the newer ones with black collar seem better. Ive had no issues with either of mine in 2 years

I’d never go back to tubes. The faff some people are on about are either way over exaggerated or they’re either very incompetent or very unlucky. I haven’t experienced any set up issues, it was far easier than I thought. I

I could change a tubeless tyre faster than most people I know can change a tube. Which is odd as they have enough practice putting new tubes in!

I wonder how many will be on the side of the Gap DH (Brecon beast) trail tomorrow repairing their punctures while I bounce my way past on tubeless

all you need is the funnel (~£4), shimano oil, and maybe some new olives and inserts

I shortened my hoses without needing a bleed. As long as your careful it should be ok, but saying that won’t the new levers be empty of any oil so will need a bleed anyway?

Shimanos are so easy to bleed i’d give them a bleed just to be on the safe side

    Whatever happened to personal choice

Yeah that’s all fine but whilst most smokers casually chuck their fag ends on the floor then why should it be accepted.

Oh and sucking on a mint tic-tac is not going to disguise that smell, especially in a lift. You lot stink a lot worse than you think

Nuke first to speed things up, then cover in oil and lots of salt and pepper.

    Toppings:

Tuna mayo, beans with chilli sauce, cheese
Cheese, coleslaw n beans again with chilli sauce

Don’t know if you misread the thread but these are Berghaus walking boots that have had a five ten sticky sole put on by ” feet first”

If your replying to my comment then I fully understood you and my comment was directed to the comment quoted in my post.

I may consider doing something similar if I cant find what I want off the shelf

the sealant will take care of thorn sized punctures. Only need the tubeless repair for larger holes IME anyway

have you used a decent length of strip and not been stingy? Cant see how they can pop out unless your hole is massive? Mine was a tight fit and was a tough job getting them in, with a decent length inside the tyre.

Come on five ten PLEASE make some uk friendly arctic waterproof boots ….

stuff 5:10, id rather have something like a Northwave Celsius with a flat pedal friendly sole. I’ve got some 5:10’s now and even though I love the grip, they’re heavy and clunky and useless for winter.

I may have to consider SPD’s for winter which I don’t really want

how longs the sealant been in the tyre?

I’ve got a Gamut with the aluminium bash on my Five. It’s been faultless, not a single chain dropped since I’ve had it. It’s light and runs nice and quiet too.

The bearings in the roller need replacing now though (first time in 3 years) which is easy and cheap enough to do. It’s expensive for what it is though and you could probably get a stinger to do the same job with your choice of bash. When I bought the Gamut I was actually looking for a stinger but they were out of stock everywhere at the time.

I’m impressed with my 5:10’s so far. They’ve kept my feet dry so far although it has been reasonably dry but when they have got wet they’ve dried out before the next ride and that’s just by leaving them in the boot of the car. They are loads better than my previous skater shows which were awful in the wet.

I’m on the lookout for a decent waterproof flat shoe for winter if one exists. Ideally something like a Northwave in a flat pedal version. Doubt I’ll find what I’m after though

A new remote assembly is around £90 (or it was a couple months ago). Have a look on ze german websites.

Then sell your LH lever to re-coup some of the costs or keep it for parts when the inevitable button crash damage happens

    Edit:
The other option is to see if you can but just the remote body (not the internals / push button) and transfer the bits over from your LH remote, although it may cost you just as much and I cant remember seeing the bodies alone

One of the sponsored riders at this years 24/12 was sub 5’6″ at a guess and he had a 29er. Think he finished 2nd in his class.
