Planning on heading there for an explore tomorrow. Had a quick look on strava, google map etc welcome to join me for a look around, but I’m going with no expectations as I’ve done next to no prep work. Weather looks good so can’t lose either way. Will prob do a few runs of the dh stuff too. Email in profile, planning on being there earlyish

There’s no guarantee Hope makes what you need- I’m not saying they don’t but I had to use an alternative brand for my last new bike as Hope didn’t produce the type I needed, and from memory (couple years ago now) it may have been semi integrated something or other

Having re-roofed many roofs I can tell you that slate does not last forever. Yes it does last a long time, and longer probably than most concrete tiles but it can perish to the point that it just crumbles as soon as you pick it up. Usually affects the parts that overlaps another slate more. However it’s unlikely all the slates would need replacing (some will get damaged when stripping off too) so check with the builders what they’ve allowed for, depending on the state of it allowing around 30% new slate would be reasonable. If you do decide to go concrete make sure the builders leave the slate as it will be worth a bit of money. The joint between slate and tiles can be weathered using lead so not an issue. Slate looks better and is the better material

160mm fork on mine with offset bushes (both). Initially found the front lifting a bit on climbs but you soon get used to it and shift body around to sort that. Find it great on the descents

In all the years I’ve been mountain biking I’ve never felt the need to clean my disks or pads and definitely never felt the need to remove them to clean them, bake them at 200C (180C fan) for 30 mins or until golden brown.

Different matter if you’ve accidentally contaminated them but otherwise they clean themselves during use

For lunch I recommend Café Minuet (small Italian café), also within Castle arcade. Next time im out for food in town it will be at Wahace (Mexican), located on the outside of St Davids 2 facing John Lewis

You haven’t really given much info, but assuming its just cracked fill it with clear or white silicon or tile grout.

I’d say that was on high side. I’d expect to pay around £60 to £65 for decent spokes and brass nipples.

Edit, miss calculated. About £75 sounds about right

Yep standard cable operated hand brake. I’ll have a look on ebay / the internet for cheapish kits to see what’s about, otherwise I’ll have a go on the one I linked to. As far as the callipers / additional work goes I’ll cross that bridge if and when I come to it

thanks all, just wait a few days for ‘what calliper for Audi A3’…

thanks for the tips. If I release the bleed nipple I presume I won’t have to remove the reservoir cap (which a guy in work said I should do to allow room for the fluid to come back up)? I’ll release the nipple as it should prevent contaminated fluid going back up the system as you suggest.

Any need for copper slip on back of pads? Conflicting advice on various forums

    Charcoal grey orange five

On cars where the adaptor hasn’t fitted, I’ve just left the old pad in and wound against that.

This was my first thought but the piston is threaded so not sure that approach will work on the rear brakes. As it’s only cheap I’ll give it a go and if it doesn’t fit ill take it back.

    thanks

edit: yes im talking about rear pads.

Ill have a look at hiring too, cheers

This is why I’d be tempted to use one of the very efficient German retailers who has great customer care and will provide a pre-paid courier to sort out returns and warranties, which IME has a quicker turn-around than an UK based retailer. Prices usually better too

Yep, wasteful to dispose of it. I scoop it out using the red measuring scoop you get with Stans fluid. You can shape the tyre around the scoop so one or two passes is enough. Just wipe excess with a rag

Try one of the German sites, although you may find it hard to track down a trailstar version

You’ll need a couple of grand for solicitors and other fees etc even if you didn’t need a deposit, which is be surprised if you could get a mortgage without one these days anyway

    The way I see it you have a few options;
    1. Suck it up and get over it its only £50 (now £100 but still suck it up)
    2. Email them and ask if they’d be willing to refund the difference
    3. Send bike back order new one at lower price.

Repeat again next week when it’s further reduced, and again the following week.

Were you not able to come to a decision without asking the Internet? Do you need help deciding between toast or cornflakes this morning?

Because I thought the run way would end before we’d ever get airborne- I swear we must have only been feet above the trees when it did eventually take off. On board food was a boiled egg (with shell still on) and a very stale bit of bread. I was a student at the time so every penny counted but these days I’d rather pay a few hundred more for a bit more comfort and reassurance

No reason not to do it through bike components. Turn around likely to be just as fast if not faster than if you did it through someone on this country. Mine were a 10 day turnaround from the day I sent them off (pre-paid by bike components)
