not normally a fan of Crank Bros stuff but I have a multitool that’s around 10 years old and has sorted my bike out on the trail several times. The chain breaker on it is just as good as a separate Park Tool one.

I have RQ black chilli 2.2 front and rear and think they’re pretty good. Not the best in gloop so may change the rear to something like the Baron

Always buy my rubber from ze Germans as they are a lot cheaper

Will helicoil work in such a small diameter hole?

Are they I-spec? If so they fit onto the Tech 3’s directly in the same way as they would fit onto the shimano brake lever. No extra adaptors needed.

If they don’t fit (i.e. non I-spec) the older matchmaker adaptors don’t work with the new Tech 3 lever, although you can ‘adapt’ them with a drill to get them to work

not 100% sure on how the xt’s work but I’d imagine they rely on a spring to return to normal position. Hasn’t dropped out has it?

agree with Roverpig. Sometimes it’s good to get out there into the wilds and explore regardless of what the trails are like. Bonus if they’re good.

My biggest gripe in my current job is the faffing and inefficiency with time and money which some people see as “part of business” but I see as a waste.

    ha ha you’ll be disappointed!!

I worked with the army for 2 years in Afghan. The inefficiency and waste of money was shocking! The saying Military Precision may be true for operations, but for infrastructure, logistics, getting stuff built and anything else it’s certainly not

Wex photographic usually good on prices.

Type of tripod may depend on where or how you intend to use it. I have a lightweight tripod as I do mainly landscapes/outdoorsy photography that requires a lot ok walking/hiking. I don’t want a heavy / big tripod as I probably won’t end up taking it. However a sturdier tripod would be better to keep it steady though.

I have Hope & Shimano XT’s and prefer the Hope overall. However value for money Shimano wins.

If you can ride up in 10 mins then no need for an uplift as the uplift takes longer!

Managed 8 runs few weeks ago, take the non-uplift fire road for the fastest (and steepest) route up.

Take a pocket full of pound coins with you and jump on the uplift if theres space (£4 a run). Usually space in the morning- no chance after lunch until after 1530.

Forget it, sounds like you need a new bike!

Seriously tho. Brakes: I either use a flat screw driver pushing on back of pads (not the pistons) or if the pads are out I slide a flat object (park tool chain checker) and push the pistons back, doing it this way means the pistons won’t twist and get wedged. You can buy a specific tool (park do one) to push pistons back, but I don’t have it.

Spokes: sounds like a bad wheel build, get the whole wheel checked rather than spending £10 per spoke! You can tighten spikes yourself tho, just need a spoke key.

never used to up until I did some enduro’s this year where they were handy in terms of not having to stop to eat and they take less space so do use them now and again. And I always take the wrappers home

Ive got a mobi washer which holds enough water for 3 to 4 bike washes (less for gloopy mud). Keep it in the car so bike gets a quick (5mins max) wash before heading home from a trail. Live in a flat too so works well

Where abouts are you? Thought about riding with a club? There are a few near Cwmcarn… Castle bikes, half way up, muddy bums. Theyll show you round all the local natural trails. I ride the same stuff at night as i would do in the day

I had an uplift day a few weeks ago. There was enough space in the morning for the day passer but after lunch I must have had 4 runs with the guys in the day pass queue still there (over an hours wait). It eased off again from 15.30 onwards though.

The reds and blues are generally very smooth and I’d be more than happy to ride them on my hardtail.

My fav combo: Sixtapod into Willy Waver.

Another interesting thing, is that the woman in the video doesn’t show her face at any point. If she’d so ’empowered’ and confident etc, why not show her face?

    BOBFOC?
