Ive only used a reverb but cant imagine getting on with a non-remote dropper. I love the reverb, all of mine have been excellent, no issues in terms of performance etc but the downside is the remote is very vulnerable and have broken two- mounting under the handlebars doesn’t always work to protect them. Repairs are stupidly expensive too, not sure how they can justify the cost but then they’re still on my bikes.
No reason not to wear it if you’ve already got it, or at least take it (you can always leave it in a car if you think its overkill after a few runs). Nothing particularly gnarly on the blues or reds but plenty of opportunities to face plant due to the speed of the trails.
I don’t have any myself and never felt the need to buy some specifically for BPW, but then I’ve never done the pro lines either
25 mins to ride up (steepest fire road route rather than uplift route).
Managed 8 runs, and you can pay £4 per uplift anyway subject to there being space so mix it up and do a bit of both.
I’d spend a bit more and get the RCT3 version too based on others recommendations of them… and i’ve very nearly pressed the buy button several times.
I fancy the RCT3 160 dual position version… am I right in thinking these could be wound down to anything between 130 and 160mm, so I could set them up so that max travel is 140mm for example, and adjust to 160mm for days out at the trail centre? 😆
You can get just the piston replacement kit but its still £35 to £40! But if you’ve scored the inside of the bore youll need to replace that too… But that dosent come separate
If we could all live in a permanent summer we would.
I wouldn’t. I like the seasons and the variety of riding conditions they bring. Last Mondays night ride could have been one of the muddiest rides I’ve ever been on, but was not far off one of the most fun rides I’ve ever had.
How can you not enjoy sliding sideways down a trail?
Dont get me wrong BPW is good and offers something different but would you really not bother with any other trail centre in s wales? Been there a few times and for me it gets a bit repetitive. Wouldn’t want it to be the only destination for a trail centre ride
My Hope hub is disappointingly quiet at the moment, might strip it down tomorrow to see if I can get the full clack back. Riding with a near silent hub is just weird
that spits you into a 90 degree turn up a big concrete slab.
that concrete section is rideable, although never managed it myself.
Cwmcarn (Twrch) used to be fairly rough which I liked but it’s been smoothed out a lot now and although still ok in a different way not as good. I like my trails as rough as the local girls 😉
You could ride down half way and go back up but I much prefer having the longer descent so I tend to ride all the way down. I wouldn’t bother with Beast of Burden either, you just want to get to the top so take the fire road next to it. I prefer the shorter steeper one but you can also take the fire road used by the uplift.
Don’t forget to take some pound coins with you as there will be spaces on the uplift van so you can mix it up (uplift day passes take priority but IME plenty of spaces available in the morning and mid afternoon onwards)
