Have you taken it back to bike shop? This happened to me on my five last year. Hope sorted hub via lbs and lbs swapped the maxle foc too. Bike was out of warranty period bit it’s a known fault, worth a try

and there are more doggers to scare / surprise / blind with multiple 2000lumen torches at night time, which is always fun 😆

its riding a bike. makes no difference if its day or night, its all good fun. Faff- what faff? Charging some batteries before a ride?

I’d rather go ten pin bowling

Couldn’t think of anything worse- a place full of noisy chavs! Each to their own though 😆

Was talking to a guy at BPW a few months ago who’d driven from London for the day at BPW. Sounds reasonable… but he didn’t arrive until lunchtime, had no uplift booked and refused to pedal to the top. He banked at getting a space on the uplift but it was so busy after lunch that he only managed 2 runs the whole afternoon before heading home that night!

If you make a day of it its worth it, and 1.5 hrs each way isn’t that bad.

On the weekend I used a slow draggy mud tyre on the back as I needed to stop the back wheel spinning in the mud on the climbs. Had no grip on the front on the muddy descents which made it quite interesting. 😆

Merlin were best on line few months ago but i said to lbs if they could match that they’ve got a deal. They did and offered free fitting 🙂

mine have been wet since at least October last year. The uppers are also now starting to fall apart

    It was only 45k

I know it was only meant to be that but most of the people in my group, using a variety of devices from strava apps, garmins etc recorded over 49k.

Sram adaptor, easy to fit no creaking or problems yet. I think hope have brought one out now, which will be fitted if and when the sram dies

Get an adaptor and use a threaded bb. Thats what ive done on my ht, no problem so far

Squirt of fork juice or similar on stanchions and seals before a ride, also to reverb if you have one. My forks get used 3 to 4 times a week and still look like new 3 years in with minimal service.

For the chain i prefer dry lube, even through winter, think its finish line im using at the moment.

im after a RH one but may swap internals if its the black collar type (as they are slightly different between black / silver speed adjuster)

Rab? Lf or rh and how much?

Prob needs a thorough bleed as it sounds like the damage was only to the remote? Prob still some air in there somewhere… Are you following the sram videos for the bleed?

probably been mentioned already but start / finish at talybont. Choice of at least two pubs. You can park in a layby just over the canal.

Not much to this ride in terms of technical features other than a rocky descent from the top which I love, but its not particularly hard. Can get fun if you go through the loose rocky section as speed. Just a nice day out on the bike, enjoy

They’re inherently more stable, and what the purists might cry out as a lack of agility in 29ers (yeah right! Ride a good one…)

what would you count as a good one?

happy with mine too (mainly welsh natural trails)

Im happy with my Salomons and would happily get another pair after these die. The sole is quite soft though and wears quickly as a result

doesn’t look like a flat pedal sole to me 🙁

but at that price, its probably just as well

do you have a link to an image of the flat sole type?

Have a look at 45nrth Wolvhammer. There’s nothing warmer.

I know it says not spd version so assume the image of the sole is the wrong type?

my 5 10’s have not been dry since October, and I’m not even exaggerating!

The only reason I wear sealskins is so that my feet don’t feel wet and cold as soon as I put my shoes on, because after a few puddles they’re next to useless too

That’s exactly what I want but can’t find anything similar without getting them re-soled. Even considered SPD but winter is over so won’t be considering that further until next winter now

Do any of you tubeless riders find yourselves compromising on tyre choice, especially in winter, because you can’t be arsed with the faff of swapping tyres around to suit conditions?

I’m not a serial tyre swapper but this winter I did buy a mud specific tyre but never got round to fitting it. Not sure why though as I can probably change a tubeless tyre faster than I’ve seen most change a tube.

If it’s an old property and has been water tight up until recently I’d carry out a repair similar to the original design.

However, if you are cutting a diagonal cut into the stone you can wedge the lead flashing in place using lead wedges (and seal with lead sealant)

I prefer natural rocky trails (maily ride welsh natural trails) to groomed trail centre and I’m more aggressive than most on that type of trail when compared to my riding buddies and based on various events Ive taken part in where I can compare myself against others to the extent where most were walking some sections where I was holding on for dear life thinking this isn’t going to end well. Having said that I used to run up to 35psi until recently and im around 75kg.

creamegg – you were probably done by the time we got there.

I did the night enduro so was there till 9pm

what time were you there? we got there at around 2pm and the car park was heaving…it seemed quieter by about 5pm when we finished.

I arrived around 1130, car park was pretty full but it was a lot quieter after my warm up lap.

I’ve been running RQ’s black chilli (non ust) tubeless for around 2 years with no issues at all. I run them 25-30 psi.

A weekend of trail centre mincing for me at Llandegla on sat (inc mini endure) and BPW on Sunday… sorry if I offended anyone by not getting enough air although I did get about 3 foot (unintentionally) on Enter The Dragon 😆

all depends on the brake, new Hope – fine, avid – fine and a few others.

New hope i.e. Tech 3s not fine. You could with the tech 2s

Are you taking a bike or canoe?

    creamegg

    IMO…

Penhydd- definitely not unless you like a very tame trail

Blade- yes if you like climbing, don’t mind a little bit of mud. It has some good descents with the last one being the best.

W2- yes or maybe just Y Wal or Whites combined with the Blade

So to summarise you cant go wrong with The Wall, Whites or Blade (or any combination of the three)
