It’s still there but it doesn’t pose an immediate danger

Until you use the sponge to wipe the worktop again…

    Thanks for that Fin!

Unfortunately I think a lot of this boils down to the fact that people can no longer accept the consequences of their actions and therefore try anything and everything to get out of these consequences when they are unfavorable.
If you say something homophobic/racist/sexist/hateful be prepared for the consequences of saying that. If you are unprepared to accept that, dont say it.
But this is not just speech. “I got off speeding cos the camera wasn’t painted yellow…” “Even though I had had a couple beers and killed a cyclist while driving home, it isn’t my fault cos he was in the middle of the lane when I went round the corner…”

People in general are idiots, and cant reason the difference between freedom of speech and mouthing off like a total bellend.

Very interesting question for this time in the morning!
To be honest, I think now most sports would survive fine if professionalism went away, but would the numbers of spectators (TV and game/race day crowds) still be the same size? Unsure.

I see what you mean about overkill but was thinking of something to give her the option of upping her game later on if the fancy takes her. Not sure about the build route (although I’d like to give it a try at some point) as I’ve never done it, and I’m only slowly talking her round that a bike for her is a good idea!
I take my little girl on a couple of blue routes at Lanhydrock (NT) which is mostly flat as she’s only 5. So was thinking of something that could handle that for Mrs. with the option of her trying a bit more gnar if she wants to/enjoys herself enough.

Good point Matt, obviously the savings wont be as good. Difference is though, “installment” payments.
My main avenues for LBS supply Santa Cruz, Giant, Whyte and a shop with niche brands, with Halfords and Evans as chains.

No can do, nearest store is Poole and I live in Plymouth so a fair old trek!

I have considered decathlon but I’m a bit wary about buying without trying the size, especially as if I do it on C2W. Might have to have another little look though.

Have been watching this thread grow and grow. Its things like this that make me not so despaired for the future of the human race. Once pay day rolls around in a week and a bit I’ll be topping up the total too.
Gnusmas- sounds daft but thankyou for the courage you showed in your OP, as reading this thread at work everyday is truly making my day, and as for the rest of you ‘orrible lot its things like this that make me proud to be part of the biking community!

Seems to be a bit of a storm in a tea cup IMO. The terms “virgin” and “whore” are so used now the derogatory side of them is lost. “Virgin snow” (winter sports) grammer/attention whore (both used in this thread).
When did you last use/hear used, in a derogatory way, whore instead of slut???
The only one that suggest they are ALL sexual is cougar as its the only one without another meaning in society.

Almost a pre-requisite for working where I do!
F- C- and S**t (and variants) are our go to’s for most situations :D

Unfortuantely, not sure how to get back from the brink with this.
I dont have a degree, but my sister does (Law). She works in Morrisons and I work with electricity transmission.
Its a joke that she has a good degree and cant get a decent job, yet someone with a bit more ‘fluffy’ degree can waltz into a good job as they have that bit of paper…

I’m sure there’s plenty around if you know where to look.

Would love to jekkyl but I haven’t been that far down (St Ives is 2hrs for me). Also haven’t been riding ‘properly’ for very long.
Haldon (Exeter) on the way down if you need a fix, or with a slight detour Cardinham (Bodmin) is pretty good considering its a blue (with 2 red options). Afraid I don’t ride road either so no help on that front.

Loads on the Moors as well but I haven’t found any of it yet!

    Uhhh….. bollocks joke I missed?!?!?

Neither @garage-dweller, just a plain old Scenic for me.
However, due to having a work van, I can put the bike in the back when I am working away so I get to go somewhere for a play if I manage to get time :D

    And neither again, I’m a hairy a$$ed electromechanical fitter…

Endura, cant fault any of mine (convert softshell, singletrack)
Also use mostly Endura for everything else actually (MT500 spray baggies, 2x pairs of gloves, 3/4 lengths…)

I live in the southwest so most of my riding is Haldon, Lanhydrock, Cardinham with a smattering of Plym Bridge and Cann Woods.
Have also managed to get to FoD a couple of times (thanks work) and have tried Sherwood pines once (thanks work again)
Steed is a Calibre Bossnut with a few upgrades :-)
