It’s good but the xc loop is definitely more up than down. In fact from memory after the first decent through the woods it’s a series of climbs for the next 1/2 of the loop before you get to some better terrain.

Interesting turn of events, just seen the service kit for this post includes a coil spring. I guess this can’t be an air pressure thing after all……

They specialise in buying and selling bike parts and I’ve bought and sold forks that match your requirements from them before.

I have bog standard fox 32 150mm on the front. Do the pikes make that much difference as I’m quite happy at the moment.

I just bought the ordinary freerider mtb 2014 five tens for £58 from CRC with a £5 off code. Taking them out for the first time tomorrow to see how they go in these changeable conditions.
I avoided the waterproof versions after hearing several reports of them retaining water when water comes in over the top.

I order maybe once or twice a month and get at least a £5 off code in every order depending on the value of my previous order.

I love my mega tr. Took it on an impromptu overnighter to afan with a couple of mates and did whites and the wall. I knew it was good before I went but I was 100% more impressed after that.

I find the majority of my chain slap noise comes from the chain and front much, not the chainstay. If I lower the mech to reduce the slap then the mech doesn’t clear the front sprockets or I have issues changing between sprockets. Resigned to having chain slap…..

I have the eBay stand and it’s great. The only issue I have with it is the clamp if you use it to suspend by the seatpost. It’s not strong enough to cope with the front end weight of a full sus set of forks so the bike always tips forward. Not a huge issue but works better if you can suspend the bike by the crossbar.

+1 for behind the dive centre by the sub station. Limited space but it’s free and you won’t get locked in.

I’ve got the 26″ 2013 version from CRC and love it. Put hope 4 pots on it and an XT m770 2 x 9 chained 150mm fox forks, 750mm wide bars. Love it.

Yeah, I’m not worried about the structural integrity, just wondered if this was a common occurrence with other frames. It sounds like it is. I wonder why manufacturers don’t drill drain holes in frames.

for the compression you use electrical tape tightly wound round the repair area. You need to add a few pin pricks to the tape here and here to let the excess resin seep out. The downside to this method is you end up with an un-even finish due to the ridges the tape leaves behind which requires a good sanding.

i did the same thing on my scott park frame with a repair kit from carbon mods. worked a treat and not a sign of any further damage 12 months on.

Kippford is great, we hired a log cabin a few miles up the road and did Mabie, dalbeattie, drumlanrig in amongst a family holiday. Awesome fun.

Plus thanks to CRC for diss-assembling a 2014 frame to retrieve the new bearings as there were no bearing kits available.

Fox in general is green 10wt oil in the lowers, red oil in the actual damper and blue float fluid in the air chamber.

Errm the top air seal is wider part upwards looking at my air spring so doesn’t that make it wider part downwards for the new scraper seal?

    :?

    crashmagnet

the scraper seal looks like this

The seal gets wider from the solid side to the grooved side.

Ok so while the fork was in pieces i noticed the air spring still has on eof the foam rings on it under the air seal. From reading various posts on this and other forums in the past this foam ring should be replaced with a scraper seal as they are known to cause issues with oil migration from the lower to the upper.
I’ve got a new air seal and scraper seal, the problem I now have is that I don’t know which way up the scraper seal that replaces the foam ring goes. Does anybody have any ideas?

These guys are great and specialize in 2nd hand stuff. I bought my 150mm fox 32’s from there and i’m selling back my rockshox 120mm reba’s to them tomorrow.

I’ve got 150’s on at the moment but they’re only fox fit 32’s. Rides well enough but I’m sure larger stanchions would improve things.

The frame performs well, no question. It’s a tad on the heavy side and build quality is not what it should be.

Sorry I’m 5ft10 on a large, standover is fine for me. If you order just the frame I would strongly suggest you check all bolt holes thoroughly as half mine for the cable guides were threaded. I need to re-tap the when I pick up a die.

If I could have been bothered I should have sent it back but i’d spent 3 hours building the bike up.

I built mine yesterday (bought frame only). Got my first proper ride tomorrow but not greatly impressed with the quality. Several of the bolt holes for cable guides were threaded and had minor play with rear wheel/maxle.
