In this weather? What if I don’t take any kids with me? Can I not just use a cheap light sleeping bag?

The only race I have ever done was the classic weekender this year, it was super fun. However on the Sunday I was nearly beaten by a tandem with a small girl on the back, but I did manage to beat one of my two mates (he had a mechanical!) and a random who I had my own mini battle with. The race was about me an the people around me, As it always is in my head when out with mates or just out dicking about on my bike. That’s why it’s FUN. My only training is running out for a fag during the adverts or for last orders. So the fact that I totally owned that tandem (which properly had a mechanical/stopped for a coffee), that started dead last. Made me quite pleased with myself, as i would never have pedalled as hard for so long with out them bearing down on me for the last lap. Next year am gona enter as a ten year old (im 38) because they only had to do 2 laps. Is that sporting?

Ok then next question, how dose the MMX clamp work? I’m running old X9 shifters, which don’t have a split clamp. So I’m thinking I’m going to need a standard remote. Merlincycles say this is available separatlely but they don’t sell it and I can’t find any body who dose?

Am worried now, probably going to keep the full face lid on to hide my identity. So I can still walk down the street without embarrassment after been passed (& lapped) by your 5yr old girl, on a pink bike.

Glad to hear the penalty system has a DH bias, because Im hoping gravity will pull my specialised pedal iron pitch to the finish. Not quite race fit see! After last weekends face plant/head plant combo in practice last weekend my full face brain bucket has paid for its self all ready.

Any peeps who want to camp Saturday but ain’t sure. Bring your bag & beers. My team “lame squid” have bottled out of camping, am gona be in a massive tent with space to spare. Say hello if you see me on a blue specilized pitch, in a white 661 or black XC lid going slowly as you speed past!

Gona go down this afternoon to set up, see what happens. Can’t wait

FieldAndTrek.com fella, cheap as chips for camping gear and clothing. That your best bet, cheap stuff through to top end kit. Just been on myself (again) lookin at tents for the weekender!

Screw fix update! £3.29 for a set of 5! I don’t work for screw fix by the way. Mine are a bit different as they have the milling bit on each end these don’t, but you shouldn’t need that bit.

Bolt extractors are available from screw fix, I paid about £15 next day delivery for a set of 2. Easy to use, handy thing to have in your tool box.
