Thanks but think a Shorty might be a bit to draggy to be honest. Doesn’t seem to be any UK stock for the DHR :(

Thanks but only after the 1 tyre so I won’t hit the minimum order amount.

Hadn’t considered a Big Betty, good winter tyre?

probably a bit too central at ambleside (with the current jams between windermere and ambleside (1hr30 drive last week)

i rode loughrigg fell on friday it was an absolute cracker, found the video on youtube after
    ‘ambleside: a better loughrigg’

I ended up doing this route, it was one of the best rides I’ve ever done, highly recommend it, although more technical than I expected / am used to –

Thanks all, Walna Scar sounds like it might be a better option then.

Would this be a good route to follow?

I guessed it was M5, looks to be 25mm just wasn’t sure on M5 or M4. Off to Screwfix at dinner then :) hope they have 25mm so I don’t have to try and cut down something longer :(

Sorry for bumping this but does anyone know of any stock of these levers?

Cheers, I think I’ll give The Beast a whirl then and try cutting out the fire road climb and also doing False Teeth at the diversion.

Interesting regarding the Focus estate as that is an option I’m considering.

Thanks for the suggestions, Tourneo looks like a good idea!

It would be used once in the week and then every other weekend really, I do have access to a car for weekend journeys.

I like the idea of an XC70 and some of the nicer estates but don’t want to go much older than 2015 as I’m looking to keep it for a good few years.

Thanks everyone, if going solo bikepacking I enjoy some bacon and eggs in the morning.

I might just go with the Vango, or cut the handle off a normal pan and take a mitt as suggested.

I can now confirm there is no bike washing facilities. Also you can now pay the car park by card.

Very wet today but still great fun.

Thanks, I’ll make sure it’s hoovered / brushed and hoovered again. I’ll pop to Screwfix and get the Rawl stuff.

Thanks, this is the method I was going to use –

Just can’t easily get that specific resin locally and wanted to do the job tomorrow, Toolstation have this which I think is similar – Everbuild Anchorset

Thanks, the anchor has holes for countersunk bolts, so the bolts will be flush when fitted. I did consider maybe ball bearings hammered in but don’t see why its needed as you can’t undo the bolts in resin anyway?

Any suggestions on a decent injectable resin that fits in a mastic gun? There’s such a range and price difference.

Also running a Toro on the bars and Joystick on the helmet, plenty of light and burn time.

Some sound advice in here. I think I’ll look to move to another job in IT before I look at changing careers. Or stay put and try a night course as suggested as I have plenty of time at evenings.

Maybe a more hands on / practical job isn’t at great as I imagine in my head. Sitting in offices all day is comfortable but also allows my mind to wander what if.

I’ll update if I ever make a decision! Thanks

Not really massively creative and no I can’t draw! :(

I just fancy something more hands on and not in an office all the time. Really is hard even in your 30s to know what you would like to do with your life isn’t it.

Thanks I’ll go have a read over on emtb, long chain stays and short reach but as a shorter rider (5ft8) I think I’d be OK on a large.

Thanks everyone, Plotaroute seems a winner for me.

I might give that new model ago, is it a similar fit like the previous one?

I suppose it’ll be winter before I know it so may just stick with it.

I’m looking for something still MTB style. Just something that fits the same head shape and isn’t as hot.

Thanks Chakaping, I can take puddles, as long as the trail stills rides OK.

Size chart here for the new Bizango, I imagine the older ones are similar –

    https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/mountain-bikes/voodoo-bizango-29er-mens-mountain-bike-16-18-20-22-frames

5ft8 puts you on the 16″ (small) frame.

At 5ft8 you would generally be a small – medium frame.

I’d go second hand, something like a Voodoo Bizango.

Red / Black is just a case of parking up, following the signs, really well signed. The blacks just loop off the red. I think the red + black is about 15 miles, 1800ft.
