I had a buyer send DHL to collect an ebike from myself last year, they took it no issues.

Bump, little quieter on here than I remember

Thanks all. I’ve contacted paisley but unfortunately they don’t ship e-bikes.

Struggling to find anywhere that will, has anybody shipped a ebike?

Thanks everyone, sounds like arranging my own courier may be the best way then.

Thanks everyone. I think I’m heading down the route of a SE and hoping to open it up fully.

I might just keep the original width to be honest.

    I can’t fit a steel I beam, as I only have a bricks width, 100mm or so.

I can either fit a 100×150 concrete lintel or a 100mm steel box lintel like a catnip one. I would assume either would be fine if I’m only replacing that timber one?

Also, it never had a timber frame, just that timber lintel sat on the brickwork. It had no door frame or anything.

Thanks everyone. I’m now thinking maybe I should repair the brickwork that’s there, keep the opening the same size and replace that timber lintel with a slightly longer concrete lintel? (100mm x 65mm)

Then I’m not widening it, just repairing. So I assume no building control needed?

I haven’t really got the budget / time for structural engineer and building control at the minute.

I’ve removed the downstairs toilet so no problem there luckily. Maybe I’ll have to stump up the cash for an engineer to take a look then. Just wasn’t really a job I was planning on doing.

    Always the way. Thanks everyone

I’ve got the original Edge Explore and no issues with the screen. I’ve used it mainly for downloading other peoples routes to follow and have found it to be spot on.

So sorry, never spoken to you but read many of your posts in the past and would happily be up for a ride if you wanted to get out. Please just post a topic if you want a coffee / ride / anything and you’ll have lots of offers.

Just a bit worried about the mileage on it, don’t want to stick 16k on it over maybe 2 years and it be worth next to nothing.

Would I be mad to buy a Leon or Golf 1.4 TSI with 70k? Will these cars do over 100k?

Something like this for example –

Leon seems popular. Reason for downsizing in size is that the house I’m moving to has quite restrictive parking so thought while I’m changing cars anyway, it might make sense.

Thanks for the detailed reply. That is ideally what I would be looking at, just wasn’t sure how easy it would be to get the bike in. Sounds not to bad?

That’s a good point. Any suggestions if I was to up the mileage then? I currently have a Focus estate on lease, but it’s due to go back very soon and I can’t afford to lease at the moment with a new mortgage.

A van probably makes sense, just not sure I want to have a van as my only means of transport.

I don’t have to size down but I put my bike in it once a week, and I commute to work twice a month. I don’t really use it much other than that, except maybe to nip to visit people. I was hoping a hatchback might suffice.

Seems to be a lot of love for the 3 series touring over the gran coupe

You could head up to North Wales first, stay a night there, there’s both trail centres and natural riding, depending upon what you’re looking for.

From there carry on up to the Scottish Borders, that should split the drive up nicely. I’d do 3 nights maybe, lots of great riding. Base yourself near Peebles / Innerleithen.

Then maybe the Lake District on the way back down as your passing through it and would be rude not to. That is a fair amount of driving though.

I think I’ve found the answer, brake cleaner seems to be bringing it off. Can’t believe how hard this stuff is to remove.

Tried that, didn’t really seem to do anything. The only working method so far is scratching it off with my nail :(

Thanks, lots of input from everyone.

I’m thinking of the combination of Pyg and Miners, I know it’ll be very busy though. Possibly parking further away and getting the Sherpa bus.

You could get a lever that clamps at the lever end, then just cut the nipple off the end of the cable? I like the Bontrager lever

Also snapped mine, swapped a snapped M8100 out for a M7100 that I bought off AliExpress. As above –

    – M7000 and M8000 are interchangeable with each other

    – M7100 and M8100 are interchangeable but not with the ‘000’ series, which are thicker*

    Woolpack is long gone.

If you’re staying at Salford Quays, it’s worth popping into Dockyard for one, then the 7 brothers stand just outside and the gyros stand next to it is also rather good. Then the tram into Manchester, loads of choice, Northern Quarter for bars, Trof is a good starting point, lots of pubs / bars, Mackie Mayor food hall.

Citan drivers, would a bike with wheels on fit in the back of the LWB? Or is the XLWB needed?

Van prices are ridiculous it seems.

Looks like I could also get a similar age / mileage in an A4 as the Octavia –

Thanks! More complicated than I thought. I’m only short 5’10” so hopefully I’ll be fine.

Just need to find the right one now.

Thanks everyone, I’d definitely swinging more towards the Octavia. I know a few have mentioned it seems expensive, any links to better priced ones?

Also for the Octavia experts, how would I know if it supports CarPlay? Is there something to look out for if the listing doesn’t mention it?

I’d be tempted by a van but the prices seem crazy.

I know my mileage is low but it will be mostly used for bike trips most weekends, so will still be doing plenty of miles with bikes in. That’s why I was considering a diesel? Also thoughts on DSG vs manual? For relatability?

I just parked at the official trailhead (sawbench). Really enjoyed it, especially the last sections, all the trails were mostly dry.

I’ve just bought a ticket for John Cooper Clarke in Tenby for tomorrow evening. I’m quite surprised.
    Anyone seen him?

Went to see him at Liverpool earlier this year, he was class, really funny to.

Also had Mike Garry with him who did St Anthony which went down really well.

Anyone else going to see LG at Knebworth this weekend? Going down with the same bunch of lads who I used to go to Oasis gigs with in the 90’s. Can’t wait 🙂

Got a day free on Friday in the Luton area for a few beers. Everyone says avoid Luton like the plague. Where else is good for a few drinks around there – Harpenden?

Went to see Liam on the Saturday, that was some gig. Kasabian were amazing to, didn’t know what to expect without Tom, but it was mint, really got the crowd going.

Yes, got proof from HMRC, then the new company gave me a start date, so I could then hand in my notice. All sorted :)
