Similar story to edlong here. Was a nightmare getting my 2 in but once in the system it’s not too bad. Coming from privately run lessons, pleasantly surprised to find that the standard of lessons is impressive too. Leeds City council (Morley) by the way.

It’ll be fine. I’ve got a 2008 aluminium Zesty 714 with Lyriks on and I’m not dead yet (they are wound down to about 145mm most of the time though).

IIRC the front triangle is the same as the Spicy so there is no reason why 160 would cause any problems. I wind mine out to 160 and put offset bushings in when I want to slacken it off a bit for uplifts/alps duties.

Aren’t most of the cracks around the BB and rear ends anyway?

Just to balance out some of the ‘I received my replacement before I’d even broke it’ replies in the thread, I waited around 6 weeks for a Cannondale replacement frame about 10 years ago and then 2 and 3 months respectively for 2 different Commencal frames 4 or 5 years ago.

So while the timescale quoted from Canyon is a bit bobbins, its not as unusual as many suggest. Doesn’t make it right and the tone of their response isn’t what I’d expect but it sounds like you’re gonna have to suck it up.

I would have thought though, that once the frame has been inspected, that it should be resolved pretty quickly.

I was looking at the Zee brakes as a poor mans Saint for my cheap DH bike build.

Any experience? Have read somewhere the seals go?

The only thing I’d say is that they’re not exactly “poor mans” price. They come very close to saints

I recently got a set from Tweeks for £82 an end so still very reasonable.

They are very good brakes which happen to be very reasonably, nay cheaply, priced.

Other brakes of similar or superior quality are available at comparibly extortionate prices, the owners of which will be along to justify their purchase shortly.

Not particularly posh, but Arts Cafe on Call Lane is pretty good

Prashad’s in Drighlington. I am a total carnivore, but the food there is epic and you don’t miss meat. Service is just right and the prices are very sensible. Last time I went there, 3 courses for 2 with 2 bottles of good wine was under £70.

£70 for an Indian when there’s Kamran’s not 200 yards up the road where you’d get the same meal for less than a tenner!!!

In fairness, everyone I know who’s been has said it is very good. And it’s a favourite of Gordon Ramsey so it must be good.

I saw them in Holmfirth on Sunday. Quality show which at times was held together by a thread. Well worth seeing if you get the chance.

It’s so they can antagonize all the motorists on their daily commute and upload the subsequent fracas on youtube.

Sorry to hear that crag was it recently you had this experience. I own crosstrax if you don’t know

In fairness it was a while ago, maybe 2 years, so not particularly recent.

As others have said, Garage Bikes in Morley. Top bloke who is genuine and honest.

A bit further afield, JD’s in Ilkley are also really good, staff really friendly and knowledgeable.

Contrary to what Binno says, I’ve found the staff at Crosstrax to be a bit vague and rude on both the occasions I’ve used them. They seemed more interested in watching the latest video on youtube than dealing with a waiting customer. I may have got them on a bad day but I wouldn’t rush back.

I’ve got a Thomson stem that has always creaked so I don’t think this is exclusive to Renthals.

JD, make no wonder you’re WFH. You’re taking in all the best bits of the local road network with that commute aren’t you!!

I have the same injury about 15 years ago playing football.

In retrospect it was a pretty straightforward injury, with a clean break in the tib and spiral in the fib, but at the time it was tough. I think I was in full cast for 14 weeks total.

When I came out of cast I was walking with a stick for a couple of weeks until the strength came back. I was, however, out on the bike pretty much straight away, even when struggling to walk. With it being non-load bearing it was really useful for getting the strength back in the leg. IIRC, it took about a month before I could do any light jogging, and then another month or so before I was sprinting.

I broke my leg mid January and was playing football again for the start of the next season so say end of August.

The fitness is difficult to get back but it will come. My advice would be not to push yourself and try and do too much too soon. I foolishly tried too much and ended up with associated issues with my ankle as it has also weakened during the 3-4 months out of action.

Best of luck pal, hope it goes OK.

Kind of. Been running a little bit for a couple of years now. In that time I’ve probably had half dozens runs that didn’t feel really tough.

The rest, regardless of distance, have been borderline horrid. Saying that, I’m kind of hooked at the minute and am running more than cycling just now. Currently in two minds whether I want to do a marathon next year……

Try your lbs. Mine is very competitive with Hope stuff and if not in stock have them within 24 hours (Garage Bikes in Morley btw).

When I was looking for a rear Flow, IIRC the lbs were about a fiver more than Wiggle/Winstanleys etc but with the benefit of being able to just call in if they fail or need truing.

Last gig was Drenge who were superb.

Next up are a couple of old school electronica gigs, with Orb in Holmfirth in November followed by Eat Static in Hebden Bridge during December.

And I’ve grudgingly being talked into going to see Shed Seven’s gig in Leeds just before Christmas. They weren’t that good when they were good in fairness………..

We did a similar thing a few years ago, albeit without Melbourne.

We flew into Sydney, couple of days there then flew up to Brisbane.

From there we hired a car and drove up to Cairns stopping off at places we liked the look of en route. We had a start and end point with no real itinerary in the middle – so long as we hit Cairns by a certain date for our internal flight back to Sydney we could remain flexible. Magnetic Island, Keppel Bay Islands and Fraser Island are all worth a visit.

If you do get as far north as Cairns, its well worth a night at the Sanctuary at Mission Beach just south of Cairns. Your pretty much sleeping on the jungle floor at night which is quite an experience.

Brudenell Social club is fast becoming a favourite of mine. It’s a bit Phoenix Nights with a real mix of people.

I picked a copy of The Savages album t’other week. Really enjoying it, well worth a listen.
Also +1 for Soft Focus by **** Buttons. Caught them a couple of weeks ago with Haxon Cloak supporting. Incredible sets.
Pearl Mystic by Hookworms also gets my vote.
EDIT: and how can I forget Head Down by Rival Sons. Quality old fashioned rock n roll (although 2012, not 2013)
