I’ve got a TNT with push’d van r and lyriks. Pretty much spot on and as “beefy” as I’d want to go with a trail bike. A bit porky at 32-33lb but pedals all day without issue.

Not sure you need all the bells andwhistles of a more complex shock tbh. Many on here will disagree but a custom tuned fit and forget shock from TFT/mojo will serve you well. Unless you know exactly what you’re doing (and I suspect many ccdb owners don’t) you can easily adjust your shock into an ineffective overpricedpiece of crap – IMHO of course.

I’ve got some 2004 Marathons that have only had 1 oil change in that time. Should I be worried for my safety?

Used to be pretty good at football and played for 25 years at one level or another.
Finally hung the boots up when I got frustrated at getting old and shite and making crap players look good. Not much fun not been able to walk on a Sunday morning either due to bad knees/ankles/hips etc etc.

Not sure a few lines of cheeky is the same league as having a few scoops but I agree with the sentiment.

No. Currently riding a 5 Spot which should on paper be the best bike I've owned.
However, can't help thinking that I preferred the ride of my Meta (although don't miss the build quality!)

Some very good deals to be had at JD's in Ilkley – great to deal with too.

    Pro's for £1350 http://www.jdcycles.co.uk/bikes/mtb-full-sus/meta-55-pro
    Carbons for £2200 http://www.jdcycles.co.uk/bikes/mtb-full-sus/meta-55-carbon

I stuck some of these on my HT for road duties.

They PITA to get on the rims though (well, they were on my XT wheels anyway).

Once on they make a massive difference. And they came with tubes too (not sure if they still do)

Agree with most of the comments above. Very good suspension action which inspires confidence. And despite them being heavy they still pedal quite well.

Had both 08 & 09 (both broke!). Can't comment on the ride of the 2010 but the build quality looks far superior and I've yet to see a report of a broken one. However, considering the historic failure rate, still not the sort of bike I'd consider buying second hand.

Send it back to gravitydropper. Seriously, mine was getting a bit tired then the bar clasp broke. I dropped GD a line in the US and asked them about spares.

They just said send it back and they'd look at it. Within 2 weeks the post was returned completely refurbed. Only original part on it is the post shaft. All for a tenner postage.

Amazing customer service. The post is 2 years old and now works like new again.

I'm 77kg and run 120 in both on my Pikes. Any less and they just dive through their travel. With the rebound set right they run sweet. There seems to be a lot of people running very soft forks out there.

I thought a Powerlink was supposed to enable you to split a chain without tools?

If you need tools to split a powerlink then you may as well join the chain properly and buy a proper chain tool. A solution to a problem that doesn't/shouldn't exist IMO.

    Yup, awesome weekend.

Flew to Geneva Thurs PM, spent a day in Les 2 Alps Friday, a day at Montgenvre Saturday and a day at Chatel bike park on Sunday.

Spent yesterday chilling in Morzine and Geneva before flying back last night.

Quality road trip and fantastic trails.

Cheers fella's, got in a bit of panic reading the baggage page where it says that paying the extra for the bike increases your total allowance to 32kg, including extra item.

I think I'll be printing the t&c's and taking them with me, just in case like!!

I've used snowcard the last 3 years. Can't tell you how good they are 'cos I've not had to claim yet. Thats the real acid test.

You slice a tyre and you're prety much fecked whatever tyre/sealant combo you use.

2.5 for trail riding??!!. Overkill for me but the best tyre at that size has got to be the Minion.

What Langy said, if set up right both work very well.

Shimano tends to wear over time, where as SRAM just fails.

I could just bend it back but worried about it being weaker for doing so, especially as I'm in the Alps next weekend and will be hanging off them levers for dear life!!

Yeah, the IS on the Pikes is a pain in the ass. I've had to shim my XT caliper out so it doesn't foul my Hope rotor.

Some old fella with strange handlebars recommended the rear QR greasing last night for a creaking Turner. Early days but seems to have done the trick 🙂

It's a TNT but no plans to put new rockers on.

Would it be so bad with the standard ones? The rear end never feels out of it's depth with the Van R on, it's up front where the steep head angle exposes my shortcomings, especially on long technical descents.

I've got a minion on the front of my 5 spot and they stick like shit to a blanket. IMO far better tyres than HR's and not as draggy.

So, anyone ridden any of these in anger yet?

Be interested to hear peoples opinions, wonder if they've finally got their reliability issues sorted.
