That’s bobbins. I’ll drop GD a mail tomorrow and see what they can do.

Oblivious, maybe, more gormless tbh but I try to get by on awesomeness alone 😉

Interested in the shock mounts – any details?

So, general consensus is that yes, I will notice a difference in a 1 degree shift.

bikeryder, yes a bit more stability at speed would be nice. I’ve got my Lyriks on there at the minute and these make it a different machine but tbh, these are overkill for most things and hauling an extra couple of pounds in fork weight is a pain on long rides.

Was thinking if I drop a degree off the HA and put the Pikes back on it might be a decent compromise.

He’s quite clearly not hard enough to be considered alongside any of the Leeds players of the 70’s. I mean, really, Pederson punch? I’ve flicked bogies harder

I’ve just put another Advantage on the back of mine in 2.1 flavour. Doesn’t come up much smaller than the 2.35 minion up front. In terms of weight, IIRC, they come in just less than 600g

Roll pretty well and hook up decent enough for a rear.

I dumped the rp23 HV on my TNT for a push’d van r. The improvement was night and day. If you can stand the weight gain I’d get the dhx5 tuned and use that.

Agree with Mad Pierre – High roller front (or minion) and Cross Mark rear – ride them everywhere till the winter sludge arrives and swap the cross mark for an Advantage.

Good stuff Tucker, good to see that there are other old bombers still going strong.

I don’t suppose you’d have a link to oil heights for each fork would you? There used to be a comprehensive list on Marzocchi website for rider weight but I can’t see it any more!! (Marathon S coil 2004 fwiw)

It’s still getting power and I canhear the fan is still spinning, it’s just not warming up. On for 40 minutes earlier and not warm at all.

Had a quality ride round Ladybower this morning. Conditions were perfect.

Avoid 2007/08/09’s – all had poor failure rates.
2010 onwards much better but I’d be very wary about buying a Commencal with no warranty.

I wouldn’t worry about the cracking issue if buying new, 2 year warranty will sort it out.

I had a couple of ali ones (which both cracked) but they rode really well. Very capable bikes and tbh preferrred them to my 5spot, albeit quite a bit heavier.

My understanding is that they’ve sorted their failure issues out and they are now as robust as many others. I’m sure there will be some but I’ve not come across anyone who’s broke their 2010 frames yet.

Up and at them early doors for a road spin then to the Scarecrow Show in the village in nice sunshine with the family (sarf Leeds here)
Home for lunch just as the heavens opened. Just woke up after sleeping off half a bottle of wine!

I’d be thrilled to get my 5spot under 30!!

I put a set on my 2008 5 spot about a year ago and they’re fine, I’m not dead yet!. Ok on the climbs but it’s the weight that’s the limiting factor.

Anyone got any experience with the Corian? I quite like the look and the invisible joins are quite impressive. Does it damage easily or is this a low maintenance affair?

thanks for the replies so far gents. In terms of requirements, looks and easy care come pretty close to top of the list. Won’t be cutting directly on it but with 2 young children this is likely to change over time so durability a necessity as well.

Me and a few mates are off. Heading over the peaks. As yet can’t decide between cutgate/ladyboy ride or the Hayfield loop. Probably decide on the drive down in the morning.

cheers fella’s. Went on CK’s website and found the destructions on there.

I panicked for a bit mind! I’ll check it again after a couple of rides and make sure my hamfists haven’t fecked it.

I’ve had an Octalink on the HT for 7 years (on 2nd BB) and can’t tell the difference in stiffness once riding, weight either. When this BB fails, I won’t be rushing to change the chainset to HT2 as I can’t see any real benefit.

I’ve got a HT2 on the FS and I’d agree that HT2 probably is a simpler, better design, albeit let down by piss poor bottom bracket sealing. All this talk of facing and improper fitting just masks the fact that the BB’s are crap, with the best option being to ‘upgrade’ to a Hope/Chris King.

I’ve had my current Cannondale 7 years now and its still going strong after having its fair share of abuse. Absolutely love it and no matter what other bike I own, its still the one that feels ‘right’. When it breaks (and I’m sure that eventually it will), I’ll be looking for another one.

Agree with the comments re: the propriety parts. My first was a 2000 F700 that was adorned with Coda everything (although thankfully Magura brakes). Crap cranks, hubs and chainset. Never ridden the Lefty’s but the Headshok were a bit marmite. Unbelievably stiff and light but lacking in any adjustment (or travel) and also needed a fair bit of service attention.

Cheers Stan, top man. I’m in no rush, cable ties are doing the job. Just let me know as and when you order and I’ll weigh you in.

And as for the ‘i’ – long story!

Stan, if you do stick an order in with GD, any chance I can tag a rubber boot on your order? Mines pretty fecked and not worth ordering on it’s own (obviously pay for and pick up on night rides etc etc)

Lee Quarry in crap mist, rain and howling rain. Still, decent ride had by all (apart from the lad who got lost in the fog!)

+1 for Duane. Bought off him a few times. As Doug says, top service and not bad prices either.

Rode over there today. Chapel Gate was fun. Full on stream. Proper good do though. Everywhere else, if not riding in running water was a total slippy mudfest. Made for an interesting day out!

    Pie soup? Just wrong.
FWIW, a fish cake is definitely a couple of slices of spud with a bit of fish in the middle and deep fried in batter until ready to inflict heart disease.
Having said that, given where you grew up, I probably went in the same chippies
