Thinking about the 1×10 myself. What sort of chain devices are people using?

And bizarrely just the lever blade (if you manage to get one) has a RRP of £39.99 as well.

No, I’ve got a cheap one from CRC which does the job just the same.

IME, CK crown races are one of the tightest to get off. Just using a hammer and flat screwdriver is likely to damage the crown race a bit (if that bothers you).

Last one I took off I used stanley knife blades, tapped between the race and fork until you get a big enough gap to get a chisel in and work round the race and gently prise off.

I’ve now split the race so switching between forks is loads easier.

Getting back to the pub carpark after a wet muddy night ride, soaked to the skin and shivering like a shiteing dog and loading the car and getting changed into dry gear only to have to unload the wet muddy bike and gear once you get home after having got warm in the boozer after a couple of scoops. No fun at half 11.

Did the clubs annual Dawn Raid on Saturday.

15 of us set off at 6.30am to climb/carry up Ingleborough to see the sun rise. Unfortunately, as we reached the summit the wind brought the mist in reducing visibility to about 10 yards.

Still, good ride and decent crack with only a few comedy offs on the way down.

Can’t believe nobody has mentioned the world famous Frontier yet. Reason alone to live in Batley. Best night club in the land by far. They do an amazing laser show and Shirley Bassey once played there you know…………..

What Legend says. Ran them on the front for a while but after a few sketchy moments I swapped it out for a Minion.

    Great on the back though.

Also, Sunshine Underground worth a shout.

Look, lets be clear, this isn’t going to be the musical extravaganza that it was back in the late 90’s but lets be honest, how many people of our generation grew up wishing they’d seen the Roses live?

I know I did and given the rate at which the tickets sold it appears I’m not alone.

On the day, I’m sure that musically they won’t be quite the same but tbh its not quite the point is it. It will be a fantasitc gig – even if the music is shit (well, average maybe) and I’m glad I’ve got tickets. One of the few gigs I’ve got tickets for where price wasn’t really a factor.

I’ve put a 1 degree on my 2008 TNT and its made a noticable difference.

I previously ran it with Lyriks to try and slacken it out a bit but have been able to revert back to the Pikes.

150mm forks and 1.5 degrees slacker might be a bit much tbh.

They will of course be shit if they ever get back together. Too many over the hill (especially Brown) and oversized egos.

I’ve just got one of these

Only just arrived so too early to offer an informed opinion but for the money seems to tick a lot of boxes.

Got GD on mine and love it. Made more difference to my riding than any other purchase in the last few years. Once you’ve got one, it makes you realise just how much better/fun it is with the saddle out of the way

And in terms of reliability, the shims wear over time but are cheap as chips and a doddle to change. A bit of light grease once in a while and good to go. The bonding gave way which holds the pin for lowering while coming down Cut Gate – couple of zip ties held on place for about a year before i sent back to GD for foc repair and service. Picked mine up for £100 second hand 3 years ago – no regrets at all.

    Garage Bikes in Morley, Leeds.

More a workshop than a shop shop (although spares are available!)

Finally found someone I trust to repair my bike!

Really surprised at that weight Crofts. I know you gain a lb for the coil shock but thought it would be under the 30lb mark, makes me wonder what mine weighs in at – coil shock (with steel spring), coil Lyriks, gravity dropper etc etc. Dread to think! Still, pedals ok and doesn’t feel too sluggish.

For the amount of soft stuff you’re likely to encounter I can’t see the point of a mud tyre. With the exception of Arrasey and a few other short sections, the rest of the ride tends to weather really well.

Last time I rode it was 2008 and it lashed it down for weeks before. Rode it on Crossmarks and was fine.

Completely agree on the quality of deore kit.

I managed to bust an XT shifter and had a Deore kicking around in the potting shed. Shifting is every bit as good. Only downside is that the windows needed bastardising with a hacksaw to remove so I could get them in the right position.

I can’t see me replacing until it breaks.

How come Real are no longer dealing the Commies? Has Steve finally fallen out of Max’s arse?

Great bikes btw, but as others have said, avoid pre-2010 as all a bit ‘fragile’

    It’s quite a gamble buying a pre-2010 frame IMO.
Failure rate was quite bad before this. You may be fine but I wouldn’t be parting with my dough on a 2nd hand Commencal frame.

    Gravity Dropper have been fantastic.

I managed to split the clasp on the bar clamp. Emailed them to ask about spares. They told me to send it back to them in the states and they’d have a look at it for me.

Got it back within a fortnight with a new clasp and fully serviced post. All for price of postage. Top service and great company to deal with.

Print industry is on its arse and I can only see it getting worse as margins get tighter and capacity outstrips an already reducing demand.

    Thankfully just got out.
