I look around the world at it’s various leaders and genuinely wonder, is the best that humanity has to offer?

We got a Reform leaflet through the door this morning. Guy who posted it through is someone I’ve know for years. Thought he had some strange ideas but always seemed a decent kind of bloke. Never had him down as a complete thunderc**t.

Insider political betting doesn’t appear to be contrary to any law.
Naturally this story is being milked to the maximum by those sympathetic to the hammer & sickle brigade

Since his sacking from GBeebies it’s good to see that Dan Wootton is widening his spread on social media.

Not sure the cow was armed with a knife and threatening people though.

Spooked cow in an urban setting has the potential to escalate with serious damage being the outcome.

People can dress this up all they want to try and excuse it but it was barbaric and unnecessary.

Assuming that there were no cow-whisperers available, what would your foolproof solution to this problem have been? Genuine question albeit slightly sarcastically framed.

I used to do the 800(?) calories twice a week but…

I had to stop because it was making me too grumpy at work.

Currently don’t eat after 6pm nor before 8am. Don’t see this as fasting, more normal eating patterns.

Yup. Lots of stuff going on and the weather isn’t helping.

That’s like saying you’ve never heard any Beatles songs – nigh on impossible.

I’ve never knowingly heard any Taylor Swift stuff.

Do quite like Billie Eilish though.

As a Wigan fan I’d be lying if I said what a pleasure it was to watch him play against us. But what a player! Smallest guy out there with amazing skills and attitude. Absolutely awful what he had to endure but hopefully his family and friends can find some comfort that he’s suffering no more.

    RIP Rob.

Cant really advise on the Captur, but I’ve had 2 Meganes with the same 1.5 dci engine, and wouldnt hesitate at having another. 100k + miles on them with no problems apart from the usual service items.

Came here to pretty much say the same. Driven quite a few different makes and models over the years and the Meganes were up there.

Been a customer of Specsavers for a few years now, initially at Warrington but now Manchester Arndale. Always had exceptionally good service in terms of the options there. Choice was a bit overwhelming but usually found a pair or two to match. Went to Costco with my prescription this time and am very pleased with the results. Not cheap but as I wear varifocals I needed them to be right.

I think it’s the judge’s incredulity which gives the whole clip quality.

“So maybe I don’t understand something?”

    This. 🤣🤣🤣

Outside Downing St , Sunak riding on the shoulders of a bare chested Gullis challenges Starmer to a joust live on TV each night for 6 consecutive nights

This image made me chuckle far more than it should…

On the issue of private education I’m with grimep, I agree that it shouldn’t be the preserve of the wealthy. Decent education should be a right, not a privilege.

So it’s time that a privilege for a select few was abolished.

    I could not agree more!

So all those ordinary, average earning families who’s only hope of a decent school for the kids was scrimping, no holidays, no new car, make do and mend, to get them in a fee paying school will now be priced out of the sector and will have to find places in state schools (funded by taxes)

Are you a parody account or have you “started early”?

    #edit: Joe-m beat me to it…

Will they bring back the Dawg and the Stinky?

Oh, please, please, please!!! Rode several Stinky’s in BC when I had family over there, even shipped one over here. Always hankered after a Dawg but never had the disposable to justify the expense.

Really great news and I wish them every success!

    I’m sure he’s fundamentally a decent guy

Sunak? Fundamentally decent? Sorry but after watching the petulant, spoiled little shit excusing the devastation that his party has rained down on so many and then thoroughly believing that they should get another does not paint a picture of someone fundamentally decent.

Legally, morally, in literally every way imaginable the car owner is in the wrong.  The Car is King mentality is the only thing that is making people think otherwise.

This is very true. Some people are extremely entitled when it comes to parking regardless of the effect on others.

The type of property is irrelevant, if it didn’t belong to me and I or someone in my care damaged it then I’ll do what I can to sort it.

What other “property” will you leave wherever you see fit and expect people to fit around it.

None now. Sold most of my books (bit of life laundry) as they were just sitting on shelves unread and gathering dust. Got rid of all my CDs years ago. Use Kindle for books, Spotify for music, and don’t really bother with magazines.

Really miss Dirt as a magazine. Just cancelled my Gardeners World. Can get a bunch of mags for free in the foyer of the building where I work.

He was driving himself to work on a country lane, clipped a curb on a corner that pushed him off line enough to clip a tree right by the side of the road. Span the car round and put it on its side.

    There’s a lot to unpick here…

But now I’m wondering if that was really the right advice

Yes. The police were involved. There will be a record. If he didn’t let his insurance company know then this would probably come back to bite him in the future.

Has he now effectively made himself uninsurable?

No although the costs will go up.

Glad your son is OK, that is the main thing here. Most of us have had accidents in our driving careers, learn from it and move on.

It is important to listen to your body though

This, and I can’t stress enough THIS.

It’s about balance. You do need to push yourself but at the same time you need to understand your limits, marginal gains is the way and should avoid injury or general over doing it.

There is also a big difference between your body saying “can’t be arsed” and “no”. Understanding this was a massive step forward for me.

There doesn’t seem to be much traffic on the forum these days compared to a few years ago

Definitely not as fast paced as it used to be which is a real shame.

Killing Joke? were more like an unexpected mainstram hit to me! So dark and weird – Love Like Blood and Eighties were huge hits. Totally unexpected for one of the weirder post-punk bands.

But in terms of ‘mainstream’ that’s pretty much it. Outside of those hits, how many non Killing Joke fans could name another track?

Another band that hit mainstream too briefly for me are Garbage. They’ve done some amazing stuff but always seem to fly under the radar.

    Interesting question, define “unwarranted“.

Most of the bands mentioned in this thread have genuine talent, whether you like them or not. Never really got Simple Minds or Def Leppard but the members of those bands are far better musicians than I’ll ever be.

Oasis were a bit of a one trick pony but they have a big enough fan base to warrant their status, ditto the perennial  music snobs’ favourite targets Coldplay. Not sure how you can say someone’s success is unwarranted when they have built and more importantly maintained a loyal fan base.

“Hi. Sorry but I have priced this for a quick sale so don’t have much room for negotiation.”

It’s a pretty closed statement but set the expectation that stupid offers won’t be considered.

I’ve shifted quite a bit of stuff on Vinted and am constantly amazed by the offers made on already bargain prices.
