Thinner yes, but a quick scan it looks a good one. With all the content I want.

    Smells great too.

    No complaints here.

Yes that’s right, at the three way split.  Ill drop them an email.  It was only speculation that it was someone new in the farm given the fact that I was challenged for the first time ever, and that some significant work had been done to the track.

    Thanks for everyone’s input.

Sorry, may have been slightly out with the grid reference.  I was on the bridleway that goes through Bordley, we had come up the road from Malham moor, with the intention to go onto Lee Gate, in the end just turned North and went up to Mastiles Lane.  We were not on the FP.  Was just trying to get a grid to help from OS mapping from the Hug this morning.

I didn’t show the bloke the map, it was an easy alteration and there was no need to get into an argument.

The reason I mention it is that I have done this ride tens of times without a hitch, didn’t know if the farm had been bought out as the path going to it had just been re-tarmac’ed too.

Ill contact both later on today.

Not ones that haven’t been mentioned so far.

Juliette Elliotts content is good cycling, mainly road

Epic TV Climbing Daily for climbing

Nate Murphy Adventure Show just a good show. He’s grown on me.

Athena Mellor, only just found this. Easy watching some relatable adventures

Mark Felton Productions, interesting military history. Very well done

I know it’s a break from what’s being talked about but Alpkits sale is just about to finish with a decent saving off the Camino.

    It’s ok.

Listen to it a bit. There are some interesting destinations editions. Such as in Africa.

I use a chromecast for anything like this, they are a brilliant cheap bit of kit.

Cheers. Yes, time as ever is precious. However I really fancy trying and seeing just how far I can take it. But that many sessions a week is unrealistic for me.

Thanks fir the thoughts thus far.

My girlfriend charges 80 quid for the practice expedition. 100 for the actual assessed expedition.

There is the cost of the book on top of this. I think that’s 22 pounds.

    Hi

Does anyone use one of these for cycling.

    How do you find it?

Android apps I use for this are

OS mapfinder. It’s brilliant, if a little expensive compared to others for the mapping.  I’m committed to it now. You can import GPX into it easily.

GPX viewer is very good. The offline maps work well. But if your used to OS take some getting used to.

    Twice a day in basic.

Now every two days. So by my rough maths 15 times a month.

Shaving 3 times a month I’d save a fortune in razors

Put radmac back on radio 2 evenings. That show was brilliant. Just right . Still I see it being great on a weekend morning and what I’ll tune into now.

Quality coffee sat in a cafe abroad on a street cafe. Watching the people pass by.

A cool pint sat outside the Queen’s Arms in Littondale.

A whiskey in the winter sat by the window at Sykeside Pub at Brotherswater. Watching the snow, hearing the fire.

Eating a sausage and fried egg sandwich in a cafe. That you’ve not made or cleaned up after. Then walking home, the long way.

Sharp edge is good. Watch it in high winds. I’m sure your well experienced but there is an awkward notch about half way across with two off camber steps.  It’s a MR blackspot.

Id second getting the cicerone guides from eBay or the like. Think it’s scrambles in the lakes South that you’ll want.

I do have an issue buying old cicerone guides mind. Ha.

If you know where you want I can scan a few pages for you and email them over.

Saw a video of a Crank Brothers F15.  Bought one on the back of just thinking it looked really kinesthetically pleasing.

It’s good, a nice example of a good tool.

Worth having a look at if you don’t have one in mind.

The MTB podcast as put above should get another vote. It’s brilliant.

HookIt I think is really good, the EWS or bust are my favourite ones tbh!!

Vital are ok, but if I don’t have time these are the ones that are skipped.

The downtime I’ve listened to are good, but again I just don’t have the time.

The others mentioned above I’ve tried, but we’re not for me.

McNett tenacious tale is good. Make sure you cut a small bit however and know it’ll need replacing every now and again depending of where the tear is.

Podcast have come on so much.

The hookit podcast – great mountain bike podcast, with some good guests. (Enjoy this the most)

MTB podcast – done by one of the guys that does trainer road and his mate. Good technical discussion, if a little US centered.

Downtime MTB podcast – similar to hookit.

    Non-mountain biking ones.

Myths and Legends. Really high production and good stories.

Plastic weekly – indoors climbing, niche but interesting, US centered.

Case file – one of the better true crime podcasts.

Thinking Allowed – podcast of the radio 4 program.

The Outdoors Station – great UK outdoors podcasts.

Jam Crack Climbing podcast – good UK based climbing.

    Enjoy.

SingleTrack should really do a podcast in my mind. Would be great.

Other amendments I found over time:

    1. The Auchindrain loop basically does not exist as described due to new landrover tracks.
    2. As described the Devil’s Staircase route includes a lot of road and easy off-road. If you want to maximise bang for your buck either do it as an out and back or take in the Ciaran Path too.
    3. The Coire Mhic Nobuil loop (round liathach) involves quite a lot of road and quite a lot of carrying. The (excellent) descent can be done in less than 2 hrs as an out and back a suprising amount of which is rideable on the up.
    4. As described the Tollie Path involves a lot of road. The out and back is all good single track and fun in both directions.
    5. The Lochan Fhada loop from Kinlochewe is good but doing the descent of Glen Biannasdail completely clean would make it technically the hardest route in the book.(IMO)
    6. Cougie – Highly scenic but lots of landy track followed by a pretty muddy and slightly disappointing descent

    and

Think that the Glen Kinglass route also includes a whole heap of road… better as an oab Vic Bridge to Glen Etive…

The route out to Lochan Fada was brilliant but the descent of Gleann Branasdail was just nuts,,,,

Kennys book is great… its an adventure every time. I was told that he was a mountaineer fist and biker second so not averse to a short walk with a bike…. as we all know….

I can now confirm that the Bealach na Sgairne route is a cracker but I was glad it was dry on the couple of K of bog before the climb to the bealach.
