It looks like I’ll be able to make this one 🙂 See you at TBC for 6:30.

Gothandy: for the front top I drilled a small hole in the arch (the fork is such a piece of c***). Then big hoseclips with holes drilled in the protuding part for the bottom. Threadlock on the bolts. Not pretty but it works.

The frame already had a hole on the stay brace so I added some more drilled hoseclips near the dropouts.

The guards are these (65mm mtb):

More a case of the spare parts box bolted together with some seriously bodged mudguard mounts.

I had 8 to do some years back including 4 custom ones from somewhere in Portobello. I did a couple of the standard ones myself and learned that it was easy to get wrong. None of our frames were square or totally vertical.

email me if you want a number for an Edinburgh guy who did a great job for us.

They possibly got the number by random number genearator from a computer.

Problem is that the calls are probably over IP (over the internet)- and not originating from the UK so the TPS is of no use.

And once you’ve answered one – the overseas telesales will probably sell / swap your number.

If you dont use the phone – why not set the ringer volume to zero / off?

What’s up with their website –

seems like it’s expired or do they now use a different one?

@ Yeti – there was a SPAM poster before you who dragged this post back to life. He was selling fungal nail stuff. His post got reported and deleted – leaving your subsequent post.

Al- I’ve heard of this sense of humour thing 😉

Thing is when you’re in the middle of this splitting process it’s probably feels the same as something like being being raped. It’s truly awful.

And separation is one place where humour dont exist!

And random word combos add fuel to the fire.

LOL at “man” “boy” and “should” but not “bitch”.

I’m lost – in English would help – or are normal folks too slow – probably?.

No worries – Ive only met you once and I dont remember exactly what we chatted about but I remember thinking – he’s mad about his “physio”.

Zulus – I’ve met you once and got the impression you’re mad about your SO. And a decent bloke. Apart from being fitter than me – which makes you a bas***d 😉

So – if you decided to go off on a complete tangent career or woman wise (considering your history together), what would you do? Honestly.

Edit – This is probably the one post I’ll get on my high horse over. Simply as I relate to the OP from experience.

They signed a contract together. They took a chance. It didnt work.

If either one bails – they should do the right thing.

Should. Right thing. Real difficult concepts for a lot of folk 😉

    couldashouldawoulda

Al- there’s nothing sexist about it. They sign a contract together expecting it to be long term. One party wants to bail. Morally the bailer helps the other out.

If it was a business contract they’d signed – I would give exactly the same answer. If it was 2 blokes etc

Al- She probably doesnt want the place to herself. She thought they are doing this together etc etc. If they both bail from the contract they signed then the LL sues them both. Jointly and severally responsbile etc. That’s a different pile of dung best avoided.

Edit – I’m coming from this as a long time back I landed in your boat. It was a mess, probably worse than yours (just read your mountaineering post). She doesnt want to split. You do.

Most months 500mb is enough. Then one month you’re doing something important – looking for a job, landline broadband **** up, need a loan etc etc then you can get stung with major bills. Or on Tesco mobile – they dont give any warning – just cut your number off.

    All in my wifes experience.

I know it’s sh1tty but if you need to move on – you need to help out with the consquences too.

Be reasonable. Try to negotiate with the LL. If all else fails do the right thing. In the years to come you’ll sleep better. Honest.

Al short sleeve shirts are fine if you are –

    A. A car salesman

    B. A bus driver

    C. A policeman

    D: A scumbag at a job interview.

    E: The defendant.

This Edinburgh fiasco was badly commissioned (a new separate arms length company led by someone with no experience) the plan was really flawed (avoids the main train station, demolishes a dedicated busway, has a dubious route….) and a badly setup contract, lots of independent subcontractors etc….

I would love if it had been thought out and done properly. But from a project management and budget point of view it is so funny to actually be sad.

Should they get rid of it after spending so much – probably not at this stage imo. It’ll probably be a really short / rubbish setup to start with but hopefully when they come to extend the line to it’s original length (and the originally promised 2 lines!) hopefully they’ll have learnt their lesson and not let anyone from the council anywhere near contracts, budgets, planning and responsibility.

“I fully expect the Supertat product to be installed, ridden and completely fail by the time your CRC part arrives. “

You mightn’t even get that far! The SS brake mounts I got had bolts that were too long and interfered with the rivets(?) on my hope floating rotors. Luckily I had some old shimano bolts lying around.

The top one’s battery has carboard ends. You wont be putting it in a bucket of water too often 🙂 The fabric cover keeps most of normal rain etc off, but long term this is the neatest long term waterproof solution I’ve found:
    http://tinyurl.com/2u9c5kn

The O rings are fine for most. They can vibrate giving a strobe effect but a cheap solution I can vouch for is: http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/solutions-to-magicshine-vibrateshake-on-the-bars

    Just buy them!

I’m going out on a limb here and say:

    YOU PLONKER.

It sounds like you’ve routed the chain on the wrong side of the tab. It should go from one jockey to the next without touching the tab.

I will stand humbly corrected if I’m wrong.

Edit: I tried to include a diagram but formatting is fubar since the update.

I’m baffled as to why anyone would buy a brand new car, ever.

I used to think that too but it does depend on circumstances (credit vs savings etc) it can work out cheaper. Missus got a new car for £230pm on pcp that includes everything (depreciation, servicing, warranty etc) except petrol and consumables (tyres and brake pads….). We did have a scrap car to trade in for £2k.

For her it worked out less that buying a year old version of the same car on credit / a loan and at the end of 3 1/2 years she just hands it back (or more likely trades it in).

    Unfortunately it’s a bmw!

cynic-al : there have been a few posts on the connections. Here’s what I did to fix mine:
    http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/bastid-loose-connection

To stop it happening I’d recommend being “gentle” when connection/disconnecting.

@Geordynige – how do you know the problem is not with the light itself or the connectors?

Are you able to get your hands on a voltmeter / multimeter and check the voltage of the battery and charger?

btw – I’m 5″10. Average arms and short thighs. Suits me well! But 5″7?
I’ve only had it for a month with a 70mm stem. Never had a standover issue – I doubt you will either.

Well fontmoss – it sounds like you’re coming at this from the right place.

Ive had a few minor niggles with the classifieds here but all have been resolved “gentelmanly”.

Jeez – I didnt know he was from here – now that really surprises me. We cant fart (oops) on a trail up here without someone knowing.

In a previous life when I got really pissed off was when the police turned up at my house one day after I’d bought a motor bike from a bike shop in Maidstone. Turned out it was stolen from Spain. The legal fees soon spiraled to the point it wasnt worth it.
