The stuff I came across was for Panasonic THnn PX70 and PX80’s. I dont know about others.

can’t you switch that feature off?

I dont know – that would involve reading the manual!

Hopefully it’s a bug that got fixed since mine. If might even have been sorted in an OTA update – but of course mine never received any.

But I’ve gone and bought one of those remote control Mains on / off thingies – that’ll kill it proper 🙂

Is there a crime until money changes hands? So I dont know what can be done?

I imaging the bike isnt stolen – it probably doesnt exist.

So he’s listing it in London, but the bike is in Shetland. Sounds similar to that BR thread / scam me.

Here’s the aligning site I mentioned (there may be others):

Yep – I did it as I didnt want the dish on the house so needed an unusual install. I guess I could have paid someone for it but I like the challenge.

If you’re ok at diy you should be fine. Routing the cable was the hardest bit for me. I’m borderline zone 2 / 3 so went for the larger size dish. Get some self amalgamating tape too (for the connectors).

I did use a website that uses google sat images to show you what direction to point the dish (for me a neighbours greenhouse). I then used that finder thing (screwfix have them and the kits too). Fiddling / pointing took about 30 mins. When connected to the freesat box some additional tweaking was required but all good.

mrbump – It’s not just me then. I’ve taken mine off (got a used hayes one on here and it’s now perfect in the same set up).

It appears that the centre of the rotor isnt in the proper centre. I get a mad abs type effect. It’s not warped and I tried everything. Eventually I noticed that the rotor gets nearer and further (vertically) from the caliper as it goes round so there’s more pad contact in some parts than others.

Of course I dont know if yours is the same?

Another Whyte 19 fan here. I much prefer it over my mmmBop for longer rides. Doesnt take such big rear tyres – otherwise great.

My dad’s anniversary is in a few days. Feb 1st. Always gets to me.

He had a long – long term problems. He was glad when he knew it was over. I dont know if that helps, but it does for me and my mum.

No – she does actually want a road bike. Seems that building up that Scandal for her has given her the bug again. I am happy with this.

So what youre saying is that you speak female, and the rest of us are all wrong. You do know that you’ll be innundated with requests to translate female for the rest of us!

Thing is, it’s a cheap basic Indisit that I got given 5 years a

In the nicest possible way – you;ve got your moneys worth out of it. Buy a new one – if you go down the same route a new one will cost about the same as a repair.

Shame about the environment etc etc.

We had a guy out under warranty to fix a real simple fault with an Inde **** and he hummed and hawwed, flaffed, wanted tea etc. Turns out he’s paid in full hours. A 5 min fix wasnt worth it – he spun it out to 65 mins.

Better still buy something with a longer warranty or something Which magazine reports are reliable. Basically, after a quick scan, oooh – I not allowed to reproduce their findings. It costs £4 a month for this knowledge 🙂

    Miele / Bosch / Siemens.

sbz – we went through the same business recently. I got lots of hints. It was all “thinking out loud”. None of it meant too much.

What she got in the end she got some jewelery made (a copy of something she’d lost years back) which she found really sweet. But the big thing – was that she’d said she didnt want a party. BIG thing! Of course in woman speak that meant she did. She was real disappointed there wasnt a big fuss on the day.

So I had a frantic week getting everyone organised, venue, flights – nightmare. Of course everyone couldnt make it on the night so folk were turning up a month later. Cost a bleeding fortune!

On the other hand she did the sweetish thing ever on my 40th. Im still amazed.

Hmm. I am thinking I should do one of these thread as opposed to spending money hiring a bike

    **** that: I’m starting threads –

Manchester- Can anyone lend me a partner for the weekend (notice the non sexist bit!)
Manchester- Can anyone lend me a car for the weekend
Manchester- Can anyone lend me a credit card for the weekend

I’m going to move to Manchester!

Nescafe = BSO in the coffee world.

I would echo what’s been said about the grind (We’ve got a Rancillio Silvia though).

As a really long shot / daft question: does a Classic come with a single and a double portafilter insert? If so- which one did you use?

    What do you mean

Screen size and battery life/ charging. Tbh I wouldn’t buy the phone just for maps.

    couldashouldawoulda

If you have something like an iphone you can download your own custom OS maps from memory map. You dont need a signal to use them, and although it has it’s limits and its not as nice to hold / use as a real map: I like it for £12.50 (for up to 25,000 sqkm at 1:50K from anywhere in GB or up to 750 sqkm at 1:25K from anywhere in GB)

Edit: as a guide I used about half of my 750 sqkm downloading the tweed valley bits I’m interested in. I’m keeping the rest til there’s somewhere I need it for.

So did you have Picasa already installed?

I believe Picasa suports that – but I’ve not done it. Upload the file and see what happens.

Buy a Hollowtech II crankset and you get a one size fits all BB and a crankset in one easy purchase

Good idea that – you’ll still need to measure it for spacers and that.

Yes is the answer. Tape measure is fine. Probably 68 or 73mm. I’d guess 68 looking at it from here 😉

The oil in my revs definito gets past the bushes. It also gets past the seals and leaves a small trickle of oil down the back of the outers. This happens in use every time since new.

I have to top them up regularly to compensate. And it’s not just mine – its a common “problem” (but not really a problem).

I dont know what black magic / voodoo gets the oil to move up – but it does.

    Safety Check – £10

    Basic Service – £25

    Standard Service – £45

    Full Service – £80

Taken from one of druidh’s (less good) COMPETITORS!

druidh is the expert here but I think it’s like getting your car serviced. They check what needs checked, adjust the things that need adjusting and then call you to tell you that the brake pads are done, the tyres are worn, the drivetrain needs X, the headset is rusted…. All good.

But the key thing is that an expert checks the bike over and knows if you’re about to have problems etc. I suspect that the increasing prices mean more things that actually get taken apart and cleaned / greased etc.

I dont think any listed “service” will include a fork service.

If you go with Druidh – to top it off he’ll recommend you put some cryptic stickers on your bike. 😉

Are you getting chainsuck under load pedalling forwards?

    As per: http://www.fagan.co.za/Bikes/Csuck/

    Have you changed anything recently?

Or is your problem only when backpedalling?

It’s it’s just backpedalling then 2 things: as per TJ, or the freehub is getting sticky / dying.

If you think the derailleur doesnt have enough tension are you sure you’ve got the B screw done properly?

Not quiet directly, but the easiest (near instant) way I’ve found with an iphone to do this is with picasa.

You set up your picasa account to accept email uploads. When you’ve take the photo on the iphone you email it from the phone to the address picassa has given you. You can then link to etc without ever going near a pc.

Here’s a sample I’ve just sent from my phone:

It might – maybe – be the cables – that’s where mine failed. Looked ok from the outside but when giggling the connector about the light would change modes or turn off. Charging became intermittent at the same time. I used one of their extension cables for the parts to fix.

As above and budget for a new headset – my Avalanche has an unusual type of headset (“oversized” iirc).

If still on the original BB you may now want to get an external / HT type (or buy the tool to get the orininal out if its the same width).

You’ll most likely need new cables (inners & outers) due to different runs / routing.

The front derailleur may need a different type (eg bottom pull).

    Edit – too slow!

Just to add: here is a chap on a fixie who does a manual, then a bunny, to avoid a crash, in a race, with no warning etc. He just jumps over the rider who crashes in front of him. Its just subtle movements over the saddle, and pushes with his heels. I dont know how to show this in slow motion but here it is (at 18 secs in):
