I’m in for either or both (if I’m lucky) but it all depends on work and wont know til nearer the time (what with being self employed etc).

As a suggestion – what about the path next to “rocky road” – not that I ride it too often but it seems to attract a lot of branch throwers / “obstructers”?

You’re supposed to bleed them now? I think my oldest Deores are around 5 years old and they’ve never been done

Deores – bled once in 5 years, starting to feel a bit spongey so due again I think

it sounds like there’s something wrong with your brakes.

Plus one. ( I cant do the plus sign on my keyboard?)

    CSW, better?

    #Edit Yes.

I just realised that’s about the keyboard / paragraphs- not my injuries! (lol).

    Welcome.

I’ve got a keyboard going spare with the return key working – you can have it to help with paragraphs etc!

    Dumfries vs NZ?

I’d go to Dumfries for the vineyards, locals obsessed with boat owning, glacier trekking, volcanoes, tremors underfoot as you walk up mountains, sea kyaking in sunshine, nice locals, free camping, near some Pacific Islands for a change,… I could go on. Or have I compared them the wrong way round?

I’ve been to lots of parts of the world and NZ is one of my favourites. Just a long way to get there.

We hired a campervan for 6 weeks and a car for 2 weeks IIRC on our RTW trip and had a truly great time! We did get robbed when in Christchurch though (non valuables like swim suits, shoes etc which was a real shocker: like anywhere be careful with your stuff).

Dumfries is ok too – and has Kirroughtree!

Grant : I’ll meet you along the canal at the viaduct over the wol at say 6:35 ish. If it’s dry well head for the wee shop & Steven and whoever else.

Grant – I should be out tomorrow night if you fancy meeting up for a relaxed pace spin.

    Kit – get well soon!

Japan is after all a relatively wealthy nation, and is capable of sorting out a lot of issues by itself.

That’s my relaxed cut’n’paste of what you said.

    ASSHOLE.

Weren’t meant to sound like ‘sod Japan they can sort themselves out’, but I do think it’s important people

Well get out of your own arse then! For goodness sake, most normal and rightminded folks try and do the right thing (incl me with Haiti, Pakistan etc) but there are always whingers here.

Some folk want to help. You dont. Well shut the fuch up then!

It sounds exactly like what I had.

The pawl springs look fine but have micro cracks in them between the O bit and the straight bit (so I guess they dont press the pawls as stongly as they should). 4 New springs and it was fixed. £7 iirc – which is a rip off!

That’s a good idea Al. I’ve got some popular stuff in the garage that so far I cling on to in the vain hope I might use it.

So you’ve kicked me into action. I’m going to start my FS thread with

If you are the type of person that likes detail and plans then get a hrm and set yourself a plan. ime it’s unreal what you can achieve with a plan, a mix of activity (long and slow along with short and fast) combined with rest days. And a skills course for the downs!

Go for the biggest difference to what you have. Whatever that might be. And try not to buy new.

Well – I stood up in the initial few posts on here and said no way it’s CRC (probably related to why I no longer work in IT).

As luck would have it I got a new card today (new number, start / exp and c v v). I’ve no real need for it (or used the old one in months / years). Should I go and buy something from CRC and see what happens?

Sounds about right. Conti twister SS are £50 ish and are slightly heavier. And if a gamma ray, or any uv, IR, or pico-sieverts hit them then they puncture.

    Overall good value!

I’ve met most of the usuals (I think) and I’m still scared!

    Only joking. All are welcome.

I’ve tried the ebay bearing replacement thing and keep breaking the plastic “top hat”. It’s probably worth a shot though for a few quid.

No – but that reminds me something I did that should make a good thread!

LOL. I remember staring stupidly at a newly mounted tyre once as the inner tube slowly escaped through a gap and expanded into a football sized balloon before expoding and leaving my ears ringing for hours.

I found the enduro bearings to be pretty terrible, lasted about half as long as a cheapo deore BB… won’t waste time and money on that again

Actually I totally disagree. My Enduro lasted about 1/20th the life of a Shimano – 3 weeks in the winter. Never again. German sourced XT BB’s are 16euro. I cant argue with that.

Do Hope rotors work with XTR

I use mine with SLX (#Edit – and Oros) and they’re fine.

I’ve just done a google and the only 3 bolt choices are 160 or 180 variants(180/183/185). I guess you would get 160’s by default.

    couldashouldawoulda

    Where’d you order them from?

    couldashouldawoulda
    Free Member

I’ve got ProIII xc3 on 4.2d. Given that they are light xc (race) wheels, I’d recommend sticking with 160 or 180s. If you need more than that then you bought the wrong wheels 😉

IIRC they come with 3 bolt rotors incl – as they are only made by Hope. You should have been asked when you ordered them?

I might wander along to this.

But – why is the site so fast moving- maybe you dont want me there? I can hardly get through half a page before it flicks onto something else?

Also do I need to replace my spokes with disks? The photos make me wonder!

I did the IT ltd thing for 10 years. ir35 was in the last 4 of those. Out of maybe 50+ folk I know as contractors I know one guy who got investigated. He was a member of whats-it-called (unofficial ir35 group) and they stood up for him. He won in the end – but in the meantime he’d saved the NI difference in a savings account so his worst case wasnt too bad.

The clincher apparently was providing his own equipment / software for out of hours and weekend cover.

    Just do it.

Well done crccustomersupport for coming on here.

I’ve not been affected (touch wood) but it’s good to see companies communicating with its customers.

btw I had a spate over 2 years of cards being cloned every few months. It was a royal pita and it turned out to be a national company (think parking at airports).

    Right. Dont argue!

I’ve got an original MS bastid. a+

    A “mickey mouse” bastid. a++

    3 MTE SSC P7 torches (A) 2 mode and 5(A+) mode.

A recent MTE XLM(?) torch whose details I cant find anywhere (from kai domain). However it’s spill is so bright it wipes out all P7/Magicshines that I own.

Overall – P7 stuff is brill – but last year. If you can hold off til next autumn (our northern hemsisphere) you’ll get your moneys worth.

Why oh why dont my plus signs appear??

Or look at Spoke’s stuff. I’ve no experience with it.

Still not on the iplayer – getting annoyed now! The crap cooking programme that’s been on since on 2 is currently available! Discrimenation I tell you! Or maybe the BBC are using Mac’s and it’s all understandable 😉

The rockshox pressures stated on the fork sticker are generally way too low,

In the traditional stw spirit of disagreement all my forks suggest way too high pressures. I’m between 12-13 stone depending on previous laziness and gear carried in a pack. I always use same pressure or slightly higher in the neg.
