Look underneath – grab and wiggle the back and middle parts (not when its hot obviously!). So long as its not about to fall off – a hole will make little difference.

Halfords do a temp / bodge repair for about £15.

Some folk pay extra for loud exhausts you know!

I took it bad when my dad passed away suddenly.

Recently my mum is a total pita (negative, racist, angry….). My view and reaction to this are now radically different to what it would have been before. Folks change massively as they age – they are still your folks though. The good thing is that we have an honest relationship and I tell her she is a pita. She tuts at me in return.

It only really gets to me when it involves my missus or any of her grandkids – even then its time for a deep breath and a firm but fair word.

Thanks guys! (and again especially mick!)

Mark – there may be some last minute bits. I’ll let you know if needed.

I’ve got 3 pairs (mk 1) between me and missus. Highly recommended. Only problem – one sprung a leak at the caliper seal. £25 for a replacement caliper. Still happy. Overall: squeal free, rub free and most important of all (for me): faff free.

    Time for an update:

Still lots to do – but now it looks like a bike!

Tyres: I use nobbly nics 2.25 and thats got room to spare. I dont have a minion to check.

Some other stuff that might be helpful:

    – front mech : conventional, bottom pull works best. One mech I had had the adjustment screws hidden behind the stays and was inaccesible. I got so fed up I got a new one from Merlin. They have them: SLX m661 for £16.95 now. It’s got the screws at an angle and is a whole lot easier.

    – The headset is integrated (I’m pretty sure but not positive thats the right term: the headset cups are part of the frame itself) and you need “campy style” headset bearings etc.

    – Buy some spare brake cable clips. Halfords do a pack of 5 or so for a pound. The one just beside the brake caliper seems to get pulled / popped out by the suspension moving. Or better still – cable tie the brake cable firmly to the stay.

Warm stuff does it for my beau! Buffs, head gear, ear covers, gloves.

And bags. A girl can never have too many apparently. Tiny, small, medium (any more than that – I’m the donkey).

    And going away somewhere together.

do I take it they decend very well at 120 then

Yep – I like mine a lot. Always grinning. Dont have a whole lot to compare it to – buts its lower and a more grounded feeling than my Yeti ASR. The back end has this “infinite” suspension feeling – it never seems to bottom out. The only downside to this are occasional pedal strikes (eg pedalling through a bomb hole). You’ll soon learn.

    small island in the Atlantic!

    Ireland?

As for the shock try and find one with the original tune (my original was an rp2 with compression 3, rebound 2).

I had uturns on the 09 : 110 – 140. I had the notion of winding them out going downhill. Only did it once – left it at 120. So when building this one I just stuck at 120.

what length fork are you running on there

    120. I also had an 09 frame with 100 but they seem happier at 120.

Matte red is nice. Remember to order some matte helitape-the usual stuff looks odd on the matte paint.

    Here’s mine (excuse the mudguards):

Used a few times. Usially arrived 3 days after ordering. Once the parcel was passed from DHL (I think) over to parcelforce so tracking no longer worked. Still turned up though.

Bosch ftw. Champion good too (available cheap from Sainsbury’s last time I looked). Avoid tesco own brand like the plague. Mine rusted after a month of squeaky use.

Beware of conterfeit / fake bosch – pretty common.

Flip all to do with Christmas. Over the last year it can take a week or more for CRC to “despatch” an in stock item. Or 10 mins. It’s not reliable ime.

Merlin, Rose (or other German sites) are the gold standard if you want swift delivery ime.

If yesterday was last month and you get snapped this month you are in big trouble.

    Only kidding.

I’ve taxed lots of cars / vans a few days late and as you have to back date the tax anyway (1st of the month) I dont think they can do you morally or legally.

Unless you declare SORN. Then one day on the road is a rash of litigation right there. I never did that – honest.

    You’ll be fine.

    Duane – IIRC – you’re in Edinburgh???

If so, there is a really wee place in Ocean terminal that trades online as http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/about_us.php

Nowt to do with me btw. But IF you ring them and chat about what you want and what you want to spend – they are super helpful ime. Then say “I can turn up” – et viola- a demo of some damn expensive and more mainstream gear.

And as a major bonus – they sell parts for stuff you buy from them 8 years later!

£12 for a £40 rrp item that has a famous history of counterfeits. I’m sceptical like.

I had a pair very like those and got fed up with the inners coming out and not going back in – have they sorted that yet ?

Me too. I thought the op was winding us up / being ironic? imo – endura waterproof gloves are absolute tat (well a from a few years back).

    Maybe they have learnt?

I’d guess 99% of freesat “customers” had sky and realised they could get the same channels for free. If you dont have sky currently you can install a sky dish for maybe £40 diy. Whatever you do get Freesat+ (record, pause, fast forward tv). Thouroughly recommended.

DIY a dish is easyish and a mega rewarding DIY project.

Freesat+ : Kids record whatever, missus watches whatever, all the good stuff is up to you. And freesat does iplayer etc (if you got a network connection nearby).

#Edit – the £40 is for the dish diy. You’ll need a freesat/freesat+ box on top of that: anything from £40 to £300 depending on what you want. Google Humax Direct for ex-demo boxes with superb backup and warranty – also a Which Mag recommended best buy. So top end – HD with record / pause etc – probably £300 ish.

I’m far from an expert (but have happily spend cash trying).

So – simple answer ime – No.

Softshell are ideal for warm / sweaty folk ime (yes – I’m sweaty) even on awful days. It can rain for 4 hours in a softshell before I get cold (proper Scots rain too!). Yep – they’re not waterproof – but even when wet not actually cold until you stop exercising.

Hardshell – Even with Event/Goretex – it’s boil in the bag time after one hour. I’m soaked after this and once I go downhill I’m freezing.

TBF – I do carry an Event jactet – It almost never gets used. Softshell / windproof for almost everything until I see Noah fuelling up the outboard 😉

I thought it was balanced. And that spaceship thing on the pole is co-named? I do think that we (mankind) are realistically there (and claiming to get along) because of money – land claims or minerals etc.

I liked the Colemans mustard, Fry’s chocolate 100 year old thing. We’ve not moved on that much eh?

Not a scotch drinker. What;s it like?

Talisker is “distinctive”. As a real broad generalisation – some folk love peaty, others non-peaty. For £20 you can find out for yourself. A proper bargain that is!

Far too much doom, gloom and moaning on here so .

Too true. And a party political propogandy thingy going on too (both sets of extemisits).

My good news story is that Wiggle have Wollie Bollies socks for £7ish a pair. Whooo hoo. Got me cosy for the next year for less than £30! Despatched same day too! Happy days. (I’m easily pleased)

Yep but tomorrow is a school “holiday”. I imagine GT will be busy.

As an aside I’m taking the day off to look after extended families kids so if anyone else is even thinking of going to pirate island tomorrow – be warned – your kids would be safer elsewhere!

Audible let’s you buy individual books (well it did for me last chrstmas). Otherwise the royal blind website has just about the biggest audio book library ever. I’ve never bought from them tho. Otherwise torrent and buy the paperback to ease your conscience.

    Not me.

But does anyone remember that post on here where a lady joined to warn one of the regulars on here about giving an interview to a red top (TJ and his roof or was it tv show???) ?

She moved from London to the lakes and was fed some bull about the story line re qualified female professionals leaving the capital and moving to the lake district – got her photo taken for the Mail(?)- and the eventual printed headline was along the grounds of “nymphos do the lakes”.

I’ve imagined they’ve always been that bad. I presume everything they print is made up.

Nothing could possibly go wrong running a rotor the wrong way?

Especially when a manufacturer accidentally / stupidly prints the arrow pointing the wrong way. 😉 TBF – probably combined with light weight / thin rotors.

I’m referring to a recentish post on here about a manufacturing error for these rotors that had the same problem but I was possibly lucky.

Search on here for ashima face plant (and more photos elsewhere). I will try and resurrect the photos. Once these rotors were fitted the right way they seemed fine.

    #Edit – photos:
