The very very best of luck to you mate!

You’re in the best of “hands”. See what I did there.

Anyway I ended up in ERI with parts of a hand still inside a glove after an RTC.

It’s genuinely amazing what they’ll do ( I think its better when you’re young) but it takes a long frustrating time to recover fully.

I phoned the garage without driving the car, the collected it via a truck

Now I know you’re pissed at all this, but a measure of a person or a company is what they do when they eventually / inevitably make a mistake.

Yours have done good! As have you by not driving it (by the sounds of things).

We’ve just had a brand new Octavia tdi for 2 weeks holiday rental. On day 2 we loved it but a few days later it seemed more and more tinny and plastically. 44mpg rural ave was good though. The boot in ours was impressive.

It wouldnt be our first choice to buy (or rent tbh).

Mmmmmm. Eventually I guess that’ll how things will be.

so assume connecting to projectors will be fine

The downfall of many experienced and well equipped presenters.

Anyway, does she do the presentations at the same place every time? If so do they ever change their screens / tech often? Can she always get on wifi where she goes?

Otherwise, can the tablet also do S-video? Or DVI / HDMI or display port?

Does / will she need any audio from the tablet? If so can the tablet split audio from the video (eg most HDMI / display port projectors dont have audio out/passthrough).

Whats her fallback when something doesnt work? Can she bring the laptop aswell?

Does her job / pay depend on this? Presenting to how many people?

Anyway that’s my 2p from a few very stressful situations with clients. If you’ve more questions feel free to ask.

Bottom line – for my missus – it would be a no.

Adam – welcome to the forum!

I recognised my old posts and instantly thought you must be a-spamming us, but obviously not.

Quiet the opposite: really – that kind of detail will get you friends round here!

Just maybe add an extra CR/paragraph here and there ;)

    Another happy-ish connect owner here.

Only real fly in the ointment is that some are really easy to “break” into (break is the wrong word: its easy to pop the locks) so additional security is needed.

If you want to borrow a mini digital one: like this:

then drop us a mail. About the size of an iphone. Just pay for return postage. No rush btw – gets used maybe twice a year.

Not perfect, but does most radio and car stuff pretty well.

I’m sure the insurance company will see it that way.

I havent heard any mention of insurance claims. It’s still terrible that folk in the UK think it’s excusable / ok to be the victim of crime.

I’ve used breadcrumbs a good few times on a 305. So assuming that’s similar, it beeps when you go off course. That happens withing say 10 meters if it’s say 90 degrees off course, but can be minutes if you’ve gone wrong at say a shallow Y and are running near parallel.

You can turn the beeps off in the settings.

Just a heads up: the Lime tree is nice and all (esp food wise!), but its built right on top of the winner of the Max Power “top 100 roundabouts to do donoughts on – all night long!”.

After a few beers its alright though. Eventually.

And – can you clarify / confirm what actual steerer your fork has. Not whats on the spec sheet. What you’ve actually got : top and bottom.

    In their order of 1= best – 10 =worst:

    Humax HDR Fox T2 review
    Humax HDR-1010S review
Sky Digital Sky+ HD 2TB review
    Humax HDR-1000S review

    5-10 are random.

All top 4 rated best buys (on different points). Which is kind of rare for which.

Now, I dont know this 100% but I dont think that what you’re looking at is a actually a DVD recorder. Its probably a PVR / a hard disk that records-pauses TV.

It’s probably a Sky+ replacement. But there’s not likely to be a DVD you can remove / share.

Anyway, what “Which” say (dont tell them Im a member and said this):

<<<The Humax HDR-1010S is a Freesat+ PVR that has a huge 1TB hard drive. As well as the standard Freesat channels, this Humax PVR also offers Freetime, a system that lets you easily access free catch-up TV, such as the BBC iPlayer. We found this a fantastically easy PVR to set up and use, but what about the picture quality? Read our review for the full results.

It’s a similar set up to the latest YouView PVRs, but can it match them when it comes to performance and ease of use?

    What is it?
It’s an updated version of the Humax HDR-1000S. There is a 1TB hard drive onboard, which Humax claim means you can record up to 600 hours of TV. The addition of built in wi-fi means you can access catch-up TV wirelessly, through Freetime, without having to buy a dongle.

It’s free to access the Freetime services and there’s no subscription. Though at the moment the only catch-up TV you can access using it is BBC iPlayer and ITV Player. Humax claim other channels such as 4oD and Demand 5 should be available by the end of the year.

What’s the picture and sound quality like?
The picture looks great on HD channels with a high resolution that will make your favourite film look fantastic. Standard-definition channels are not quite as clear but good nonetheless. For best results use an HDMI connection rather than Scart.

The sound quality leaves a little to be desired. It could do with more bass, particularly at the lower frequencies, but it’s no worse than many of its competitors.

    What’s it like to use?
The step-by-step installation wizard makes setting this PVR up a breeze and the well laid out interface is pretty simple to navigate around. The catch-up TV section is particularly straightforward, with links to programmes in the main electronic programme guide (EPG).

The remote control is sensibly set out and a dedicated ‘Recordings’ button makes it easy to access the library on the PVR. There are lots of sorting options and a search feature that comes in handy once the hard drive starts filling up.

Is there anything I should watch for?
This PVR excels in most areas. It can record two programmes at the same time while playing back a third and has extra features such as series link and conflict resolution. However, we did notice some slow loading speeds when scrolling through the EPG.

Is there anything else I should know?
It supports DNLA so you can share data with it from compatible devices (such as a tablet) using a home network. Plus, there are two USB ports which can be used to display photos saved on a memory stick, although you can’t play TVs, films or other media from them.

    Should I buy it?
Yes – it’s one of the best PVRs we’ve tested. The addition of Freetime is a bonus, though if you’re main priority is catch-up TV you should consider a YouView PVR which can already access 4oD and Demand 5.

Strangely, thule arent entirerly compatible with the bmw bars. bmw probably buy their oem bars from thule: I’d almost guarantee that they do, but mixing bars and bike holders isnt 1 for 1. They seem to deliberatly change the gap in the bmw bars. Sometimes theyll sell you longer bolts.

Im only chipping in as mixing isnt so simple.

Or go all thule. Or all bmw. Or ring roofbox.co.uk and they’ll know their onions.

The strip doesn’t hold much more detail than what’s stamped on the front of your card. I can’t recall but it may have address details to help with verification. But in the end its not much more different from what’s printed on the front.

You’re nearly right, but in the UK most card issuers adds numbers that are only known by the issuer (eg version and duration numbers). In some cases this is noise. But when the issuer gets the track 2 from the POS it compares it to what it knows it has written on the stripe originally.

You could guess these addition numbers, but it’s highly unlikey.

Some countries STILL dont insist on chip and PIN. Google suggests KL is one of these.

Any machine that swipes your card, or swallows your card temporarily can have a small doofer added that reads the mag stripe.

That then gets sold online and written to a “blank” card. The new user adds their own signature.

So automated machines for parking charges, tickets, that kind of thing can be modified locally.

alarms that don’t switch themselves off when someone unlocks the doors with a key (or pick).

I think that’s the Ford design flaw right there: once a mechanical device has told any of the door locks to open, all the electronic stuff just rolls over and asks for it’s tummy tickled.

    Dublin Area Rapid Transit.

Urban rail basically. Cheap, quick, main areas covered but after that it’s limited.

There’s also the LUAS. Which are trams basically. You’ll pick up on the acronyms when you’re there.
